This might seem quaint, but honestly? I just want Samus to feel like Prime Samus again. The Trilogy had many strengths, but one that I feel goes underappreciated is how effectively it portrayed her as a tragic hero. Intelligent, capable, respected, strongly characterized through body language... I miss this subtle version of her. Samus has, to me, always been a character who's comfortable in solitude but yearns for companionship, something she can never attain due to her line of work. And that's so compelling to me. I just want Prime 4 to understand its main character after Other M and Federation Force let her down. Samus is the heart of the series, after all.

This video was guest edited by the very awesome Yoshiller! Not only did he bring his own unique style to the project, but he used his wizardry to clean up green screen footage of something transparent that was shot under bad lighting conditions--something I would NOT have been able to do on my own. So be sure to thank him, and check out his channel while you're at it! ruclips.net/user/Yoshiller2
that would actually be a pretty fun plot twist. haha Honestly I love pikmin as well as much as arlo n i hope to see pikmin 4 someday but I can wait. :)
What if it was a crossover where at times you have to protect the pikmen and ship captain, while at other times you have to play as them to get materials and items needed to upgrade samus's equipment?
Hm, that makes me think of a big crossover of the all Nintendo-Franchises that are set in the future and, or space which all happen to be kind of neglected by Nintendo. I mean like F-Zero, Starfox, Pikmin and Metroid. It would probably be too much and annoying as gameplay styles might change constantly, but may be a great and efficient way for Nintendo to please the unfortunately more niche fanbases of those franchises while not going into the lengthy process of "reviving" the franchises one by one with probably low profit. The story could be a bit like the subspace emissary with the characters helping each other directly or indirectly against an eventually common enemy. Maybe you could put those characters in for them non-usual game styles too. While all of them racing wouldn't be much of a problem (except Olimar of course, but he could technically participate too with his Dolphin) and I could also think of Captain Falcon smashing Metroids, the "Pikmin"-Part would be a problem because of the size.
Imagine a AAA-game as big and impressive and beautiful masterpiece of cutting edge technology as DOOM Eternal, but for Metroid. Holy cow that'd be beautiful. This series has so much potential I hope the next game performs insanely well.
That was the first Metroid prime, people forget about that game. They will do a masterpiece again but with right tools, with the right team, and when the time is right. That's why we don't see a Metroid every 2 years. I prefer them to build it and have a lot of time get it right.
@@samuelmartinez1014 Doom 2016 game they were willing to sink ~$90 million and it payed off with making a masterpiece and was hugely successful. For Doom Eternal they took a four year gap and developed an entirely new engine upgrade, id Tech 7 which is one of the best in the industry; Digital Foundry has a good video on it. In the end they made another masterpiece, probably the 2nd best game of the year so far behind Animal Crossing. I hope Nintendo is willing to put in the same kind of effort, as we all know they're capable of making something special with this and that it being good leads to it being hugely successful.
@@happycamperds9917 *It. Or use one of the new gender neutral pronouns (It don't apply to monsters, since they're not people). Using "They" as a gender neutral pronoun is going to cause more confusion for people, considering the clusterfuck English already is, that's not a wise choice.
The motion control aiming was so good in Metroid Prime 3 and Trilogy that I said to myself I never wanted to play an FPS that didn't have that (obviously I do play them, but not the point). Being able to aim anywhere on screen without having to move where Samus is looking was so awesome! I'm fine with twin stick being an option for those who don't like motion aiming, but not at the expense of it. This is literally the only time I've ever thought motion controls we're better than traditional controls.
I’m pretty sure every Nintendo fan’s catchphrase to say “Really good graphics and a really high frame rate aren’t the most important thing in a game... but if it happened... well I wouldn’t mind”
paula IDK... Super Mario Galaxy was Nintendo’s best-looking game for a while so I kinda do expect Mario games to look good visually and run at 60fps. At least the 3D Mario games, anyway.
Well according to all of the mass hiring they are doing for special effects and textures this Retro is very much trying to live up to Metroid Prime standards.
@Joshua Suh Mario already worked with Bowser in SPM, and Peach was already possessed and the villain in Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. The plot is: Olivia's (who is like Kersti and Huey) brother or sister possesses Peach and try to take over the Kingdom and you gotta unpossess Peach. Bowser helps you for some reason, idk.
Arlo, THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Not for talking about Metroid (which I love, and am very excited for), but for showing us your big blue furry face again! My nearly 2 year old daughter is thrilled! There is little in this world that makes her so excited as your face.
I think Samus Returns was able to revitalize the 2D series in some aspects. It introduced some fresh, new mechanics, and even modernized some old ones to a minor degree. I also think the 2.5D style was unique and allowed for more detailed environments. If a new game were to build off of that and be on the Switch, I could see it doing really well.
Hey Arlo, Depression has really messed with me during this quarantine stuff. But your videos really cheer me up during all of this, I've been rewatching your stuff quite often because it eases my mind, and every time you upload I get super excited. Thanks a lot for everything you do, my cookie monster-esque friend
"Your video cured my depression." Hon, this ain't it If it did cure it, then it wasnt depression If it is depression, there are other ways to deal with it
10:24 Digital Foundry actually did a video talking about the technical side of the original Metroid Prime, and one reason why the game aged as well as it did for the time was the absolutely mind-boggling amount of polygons used in every room, the game only ever keeps two rooms loaded in memory at a time, so if you ever want to reset the enemies in a room (assuming they're enemies that always respawn) you just go through two doors and when you come back, the room will be reset. (Generally, the real answer is that you simply need to load another room, which doesn't always require going through a second door, but whatever) As a result of only keeping two rooms loaded, apparently that let Retro Studios absolutely saturate the polygon count, and boy does the game look good for it, and that's on top of keeping 60fps in just about 100% of cases (I've never really seen the game dip below 60 outside of using a particular glitch for a sequence break)
Many modern games do things called "loading gates" where your character will have to slowly crawl through a tunnel, or climb up a wall. When your character hits the beginning of the gate, it signals the game to close down a previous room and start opening up an approaching room. Sounds like Prime made shooting a door the signal to open and close a room.
@@johnleonard9102 indeed it did, and as a result it's been found that the game only ever keeps two rooms loaded at a time, speed runners in their attempts to find glitches have found ways to get out of bounds in individual rooms and even go between rooms, which requires unloading previous rooms in certain scenarios.
@@cristianjimenez3657 I can see him saying that in his video, but I think his raw reaction would be something different. He's such a big Paper Mario fan. It's gotta be more like "OMGGG adnfnaoidfnaojdfionadoifaodnf!" Lol
I actually came up with a few new abilities Samus could acquire in her exploration of whatever world she has dispatched to. These abilities would be based on older ones, but extend the range of things she can do with them. 1. Grapple Beam Advanced - The ability to grapple and pull herself to a distant target, and morph into the Morph-Ball during that pull to fit through areas that require the Morph-Ball. The ability to grapple an object that can then be pulled to her, or thrown at a target to either open a path or room, or hit and take out an enemy. The ability to deactivate the Grapple Beam in mid travel to get to hard to reach areas, and activate other abilities while still in midair. 2. Morph-Ball Advanced - The ability to hold down a certain button to charge up and then activate when released different abilities. A Button - Charges for a super burst of speed to blast through multiple targets, destroying each as they are hit. B button - Charges magnetic properties and allows speed while using the spider ball ability. This would also allow Samus to cling to any surface, rather than just the Spider Ball Tracks. L button - Allows Samus to change direction during midair Morph-Ball travel. Use this in tandem with the correct movement control. R button - Charges up a lot of energy, and with a directional control pressed as the button is released, fires the energy in plasma form in the direction desired. When the energy plasma reaches its target, it will do whatever is required for that target. Trigger button - In Morph-Ball form, Samus charges up a Super Bomb, which is five times as powerful as the Power Bomb. Press up on the directional control to make her rise into the air. Release all, and she drops to the surface below, leaving a Charged Super Bomb where she dropped from. Three seconds after that, the Super Bomb detonates and destroys all enemies in the room, despite their power level. 3. Beam Weapons Advanced - The ability to create Combination Beams that do more that any individual Beam type can do. Of course the Power Beam is the default Beam Weapon, but it can be combined with the Spazer, Wave, Wide, Fire, Ice, Gravity, Repel, or Plasma Beam. Combinations of any two or three Beam Weapons would also be possible and the Power Beam can be part of the combination or not. It depends on the situation you're dealing with as to what combination of Beams is needed. Combination example: Wave-Fire-Ice Combination Beam - The Beam become a Water Beam, and can do whatever water can do. 4. Repel Beam - Used to push large objects out of the way, or certain enemies away. Useful against enemies by allowing more time to prepare a more devastating attack, or allowing Samus to push her enemy into something that damages that enemy or destroys it. 5. Gravity Beam - Whatever is targeted with this Beam grows extremely massive, until it collapses in on itself to the point of becoming pure Neutronium! Firing the Gravity Beam at the resulting Neutronium allows Samus to use it as a devastating projectile that can destroy extremely difficult targets. You would need to lock onto the target you want the Neutronium to hit before firing the Gravity Beam at the resulting Neutronium. 6. Space Jump Advanced - Ability to jump more than twice using the ability of the Space Jump Boots. Ability to jump in multiple directions each time you Space Jump to get around obstacles you don't wish to touch. Ability to Space Jump to a midair enemy, and then destroy it by using the Space Jump off of it. 7. Wall Jump Advanced - Not just used to jump up a long shaft, but to jump along different angled shafts that Samus cannot run through. Also she would gain the ability to change direction during Wall Jumping to navigate through Wall Jump Mazes. 8. Scan Beams Advanced - As in Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, the Echo Scan would be available, as well as the other Scan Beams Samus could acquire. Additional Scan Beams would include Electronics Scan, Scent Scan, and Cloak Scan (use your imagination to determine what these new Scan Beams do). As with the Beam Weapons, these Scan Beams would be able to be combined to allow detection of things that cannot be found otherwise. The combinations could include up to three different Scan Beams. Combination Example: Infrared-Electronics Scan Combination Beam - Can see the heat signature and electrical charge of a scanned target. 9. Screw Attack Advanced - Ability to morph into the Morph-Ball during a Screw Attack, and use any Morph-Ball ability in combination with the Screw Attack. Ability to change direction in mid Screw Attack to head toward midair enemies and chase them down. Ability to enter Screw Attack Mode from any other mode that Samus is currently in, including Advanced Morph-Ball modes. Ability to fire weapons while in Screw Attack Mode. 10. Ability Discard - This would be an item Samus can pickup that will allow her to discard any ability and store it in whatever location she is in for later pickup. This would be needed because some tasks would require that she does not have a certain ability. In some cases she would be able to discard more than one or two abilities and store them together. 10. Discarded Ability Transport. Perhaps Samus cannot get through to a new area unless she discards an ability or two or three, but she will; need those abilities when she is in that new area. This ability would be how she can pick those abilities up again when she is where she needs them. By using the Discarded Ability Transport, she can send the abilities to where she will need them. 11. Morph-Ball Bounce and Super-Ball - Drop from a ledge in Morph-Ball Mode and hit the correct button to make Samus bounce as she reaches the ground. Do this multiple times to make her bounce progressively higher. Once you pickup the Super-Ball upgrade, you can use the Boost-Ball ability to make Samus bounce super fast around and through any room or corridor, taking out enemies as you go. If used with precision, the Super-Ball can get Samus to difficult to reach areas. These are all just wishful thinking on my part, about additional things that I think could make the already awesome Metroid series even more exciting. Of course just one of these things on my list would be awesome, if added and worked right. I am hoping the Retro Studios will use their own imagination to come up with some equally awesome additions of their own.
I’d love to see Retro take some inspiration from id software’s Doom reboot. 2D Metroid have always had fast platforming gameplay, and my one disappointment about the prime games was Samus’s low mobility. I don’t want to see another third person Other M, but if they could make Samus move like Doomguy - quick, dashes, ledge grabbing, etc. - that would be a big step forward.
I kind of agree, but I think it shouldn't be Doom levels of quick. Like maybe halfway between Doom and Metroid Prime, or like...an ability to temporarily speed up with like a cool down meter.
Doom is another type of shooter, fast paced filled with heart pumping action, which requires quick and agile moves from Doomguy for it to work. Metroid is about atmosphere and slowing things down to take in the landscape and look around with detail for exploration filled with unique puzzles on top of having combat, but the latter is not the primary focus of gameplay. Making it as fast-paced as Doom would be a mistake, but improving her mobility would be greatly appreciated. That I do agree with.
THIS! Exactly. Samus is supposed to be a speedy, leaping, shinesparking beast, and the Prime games, as good as they are, to me feel like they play at such molasses-level speed that I almost don't feel like there's enough Metroidness to them.
Now that you have acknowledged that catering specifically to your own tastes is perfectly acceptable, I would like to suggest that this channel caters to my specific tastes by making more Metroid videos, even if they're unsuccessful!
1. Morphball abilities I wanna see: Burrowing through the ground, bounces like a super ball, Build up a charge of static electricity that can transfer power or electric aquatic enemies. B. Take that beautiful Metroid Prime art style to the next level. Nintendo has done a lot of stylistic experimentation recently and I think a lot of them have paid off, keep it up. ¢. The worlds are separated in a new way. Maybe by size. Each section sees you shrinking down to the millimeter, micrometer and nanometer scale. Exploring the ecologies and ancient civilizations that live therin. %. Let us fly Samus's ship. Prime 3 made it seem like you could do awesome stuff with your ship but it never happened. What does the inside of her ship look like? I imagine it being all liquid gunmetal. I bet she's got a really cool lab. 5. Score by Radiohead. (I know this one is outlandish, but come on, it'd be awesome!)
"this game *needs* to do well. It *needs* to." Yes, so it should focus *only* on single player, sorry. It shouldn't split it's focus on making both single and mp work for everyone, it's not worth the risk. If Prime 4 sells good, *then* they can make the next game have a good mp.
@Halcyonacoustic I'm not saying the multiplayer is bad, just that it should be left for another metroid game once the franchise is up again. Right now it should focus on making an amazing single player experience so it brings new and old fans together.
@@chrisnguyen2316 small? Like the new games witch has player one plus player ones helper?! No thank you. I would love to see split screen campaign like in halo.
@@moral1481 if metroid were more successful, then sure, maybe nintendo could afford for the usual single player mode besides an online multiplayer with the likes of halo. but since prime 4 isn't a guaranteed success, retro has to either focus on the single player or online aspect of metroid. basically what kevin said
The original Primes were ahead of their time. Therefore it would be disgraceful to just rehash those forward thinking games. Prime 4 should feel like a game from 2030. (imb4 it actually comes out that year.)
It'll most likely come out after Metroid Prime: Sylux, a launch title for Nintendo's new VR System (Not Labo Vr) which ends up confirming prime 4's main plot elements, leaving the masses full of hype, so that prime 4 could blow their minds. I'm joking, of course.
The fact that Arlo used the Chozo Laboratory theme from Samus Returns in the background was amazing, it's in my opinion the best theme in Samus Returns so great choice there Arlo. Speaking of Prime 4, my hope is that it not only comes out not too far away, but it also pushes the envelope and combines all the great ideas that the Prime trilogy delivered in its three games. Prime 4 should have: 1- the awe and wonder of the landscapes of Prime creating a wonderful world full of atmosphere, 2- the difficulty and challenge that Prime 2 offered in its combat and bosses and 3- the scale and grandeur in its lore from Prime 3. On top of that, it'd be a really nice addition that Prime 4 has several progression paths increasing the replay value by a mile; that way players can traverse through the game in different ways when replaying it. Also, the inclusion of more intricate puzzles for more hidden and optional upgrades and also tricks that Samus can do from the start that the players really don't know anything about when they boot up the game for the first time would be massively appreciated (like bomb jumping, wall jumping, shinesparking, etc). Of course this would be both immensely challenging and tough to design given the nature of how complex level design is on metroidvanias. I certainly think that if Prime 4 were to be made this way, it would blow the market wide open and make Metroid a headline across the gaming world. I truly believe that.
This view count is very symbolic of the Metroid fan base as a whole. Smaller, but extremely appreciative. Please keep talking about Metroid when you want to, Arlo. It’s mind and many others favorite series under the sun, even if it doesn’t get the views Mario or Zelda might, it warms my heart to see someone else so passionate about such a beautiful and incredible series.
I will agree with you on the “passive story telling” point on one condition: the log entries are voiced and you can play them while still playing the game, kinda like in Bioshock. I don’t want to have to pause the game, take myself completely out of the action, and have to actually read tons and tons of paragraphs myself in order to get any kind of narrative from this game. I was only like 12 when the first game came out and I thought Metroid Prime didn’t even really have that much of a story the first time I played it because as a child, couldn’t be bothered to look that hard in the written parts of the menus. I want it be like in Bioshock, where the logs are AUDIO and you can LISTEN to them while exploring around and fighting baddies. This is a video game, not a book.
Hopes/thoughts: + Plz don't let this tear Retro apart. + Nintendo should leans as hard into MP4's marketing as they did for FE: Awakening; a great example of a massively successful make-or-break entry in a struggling series. + Perhaps, to appeal to those who complain about the scan visor bc they don't like reading, (an unfortunately large amount of ppl, from what I understand,) have lore entries take the form of audio logs. There's ways to encode audio within images IRL, so getting them from the scan visor could still make narrative sense. NOTE: THIS WOULD NOT LEAD TO GIVING SAMUS VOICE ACTING. The closest it might get would be to have them read by a JARVIS-esque AI voice. + Feel free to give Ridley a break. + Also, feel free to bring back some of the more tertiary Metroid bosses. One of the rare highlights of The Game That Shall Not Be Named were seeing Phantoon and Nightmare reimagined. + Make it speedrun-/sequence-break-friendly! + Maybe allow you to roll back your save beyond your most recent save point? + Refine the optional(!) hint system of Trilogy, maybe even giving it "level of detail" settings - ie, guide you to the right room vs. highlight an object in the room
Brody Challinor Dude you are describing the ideal metroid prime game. Also the quick save thing from Samus Returns. We desperately need that back. I still have a bad after taste after I have lost against the Spider Guardian multiple times
Metroid is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises, I love the immersion, the sci-fi concepts, the stories, and the sweet, rewarding, gameplay. There’s just something about exploring, and upgrading your powerups to get stronger; and just tearing through enemies. It’s so good. I’ve only played the 2D games, but I really need to play the prime series.
Ashish Bijumon yeah I have the trilogy on the Wii U, and I started playing the first Prime, but I got a little bit bored after the opening, which was fantastic. Maybe I’ll end up liking the sequels better, but I need to get back into playing the first one.
@@thegay I also hope they don't do the thing where the game comes out kinda complete and then they spend a year making free updates to make the game actually complete.
Arlo: Phew! That's another commentary video finished. I think I'll rest for a bit. Nintendo: Wrong answer. Right answer. It matters not. Your replies are all *paper* thin.
I hope that it’ll take a note from the 2D games, particularly Super, and add more opportunities for sequence breaks to add to the replay value. Not through glitches or anything, but through specifically designed obstacles that take a lot of practice to overcome without the traditionally expected item.
Id love a new 2d pixel perfect Metroid (along with prime 4 of course) that mixes super and fusion that allows sequence breaking for the players that are curious enough to figure it out
All I want in Metroid Prime 4 is a way to manually mark the map like Breath of the Wild. I can't tell you how many times I forget where Spider Ball tracks are.
Arlo, I am literally DYING waiting to see what you have to say about the New Paper Mario. I hope you’re freaking out. I can’t wait to see your reaction video, your in depth Breath of the Wild length review. I can’t wait.
I am in massive agreement with ye're suggestions. I honestly think that an increased amount of success is posible with the following factors: -As you said, an optional array of control schemes. -Graphics on par (not necessarily superior to) with other shooters at a silky smooth 60fps -Taking those multiplayer elements from Hunters, Prime 2 and Federation Force to make solid side modes and a new multiplayer mode with a decently good competitive meta (Say Halo/CoD esque team matches where you play as different-color teams of Federation Troopers and/or Space Pirates, and then a free-for-all type mode in the spirit of Smash where you choose an array of bounty hunters across the entire series, and then maybe that possible co-op mode you mentioned). If executed well and it was well-marketed, this could draw in a hefty number of new players who might be in the market for a really good sci-fi competitive shooter from Nintendo. If this is too much, maybe they could pack it in with the Trilogy remaster? -Give the story (hopefully a trilogy) not only a fresh and engaging premise, but maybe a new name to denote it as being a faithful continuation to the Prime series' core gameplay, aethetic, and satisfying feel. Maybe something else derived from Latin, like "Nova" or something, to give it a fresh presentation. -Maybe expand the universe by making each entry in the new series taking place in an area of the galaxy that the series has not properly explored yet. The hunters from Hunters were from an array of other galactic regions and planets, so I see a lot of lorebuilding possibility there to enrichen the universe. Heck, we could even get a glimpse of the inside of Space Pirate territories and see how life in Space Pirate territory actually is, something of depth that reveals some things very neat even if only brief. This might be asking a tad too much though, if it means we don't see it for another four years or something ;_:
Hey Arlo! I'm just one guy, but I love your content and I love Metroid, so I thoroughly love whatever content you make about Metroid. I'm rarely vocal, but here's one vote for you to complete and share your other Metroid video ideas. :)
I don’t care about MP4! I want the trilogy! I never got the chance to play the Prime series, so it would be nice to have a starting point in this version of the Metroid series. It would be nice to have it for people who want to revisit it, or get more people excited for MP4. The Switch has a HUGE player base, so it would be a missed opportunity to not do this! We know MP4 is coming, so let us play the first 3! Come on Nintendo! We want it. We really want it!
People want this so bad, even me. But I think they are focusing more on Prime 4. I think that if that sells well, they will do the trilogy after. Retro is working Prime 4 first. They may have the hd textures ready on trilogy, but they may be able to go back after Prime 4 and fix some stuff on the trilogy. (and NO, no remake, that's to much work and resources. It will be just like the wind waker hd)
Samuel Martinez I see your point, but wouldn’t you want the first few instalments of a game before making a new one. It’s kind of like movies: why would you watch the sequel to something if you didn’t watch the first one? You need an audience for the product otherwise it won’t make a profit, but in this case, Nintendō is missing an opportunity to increase their audience which would give them a bigger profit. The sales of the Metroid Prime Trilogy and the increased sales of Metroid Prime 4 would be more than enough to have paid for the cost of the Metroid Prime Trilogy (maybe even Metroid Prime 4). Overall, having the trilogy on Switch would just be a better business tactic. (For the record, I personally really liked Wind Waker HD.)
Okay but like, the paper mario trailer they just released, power suit helmet at the end, maybe, just maybe, hinting at some info on prime 4 coming soon?
Maybe a new 2D Metroid? That was rumored a while back, and would be a good way to whet our appetite. I don't see Metroid Prime 4 coming out anytime soon
Hex Since I’m tired of hoping for the Metroid Prime Trilogy this is what I’d like to see. Samus Returns was the first Metroid game I beat so I’d love to see that team either remake Fusion or just make a sequel to Fusion
Zak Thomas I would die for a sequel to fusion, but also a remake of fusion would be amazing that was my introduction to the series and is still my favorite.
Completed my first Metroid game today (Samus Returns) and I must say, I think I like Metroid now. And I can see why people want more Metroid. I even gave my Samus amiibo (which I had despite not being a Metroid fan when I got it) a place amongst my other amiibo. Where I’m going with all of this is this: If Nintendo doesn’t put the Prime trilogy on Switch, I will dig up my Wii U so I can play it on there.
YES Arlo! I want everything you want! ... Story wise - Time travel can fix the storyline, so technically Prime 4 could happen after Fusion... What if Samus gets sucked into a "Blue Hole" in space and reappears in post Fusion and must hunt Samus of that Time and a new Samus X!?? ... Prime 4 could also take place in another dimension/reality!! But yes Arlo! I want everything you want and then some!!!
Hello Howdy Arlo my man 1. YES make more metroid content, if this comment counts as a vote, thats my vote, metroid is my pikmin 2. This video is so relatable ;-; because I HAVE A LIST TOO!!! I pray and hope you will read it and enjoy it -I want specifically the multiplayer to be a modernized version of metroid prime hunters because it is unique, it's fun, trace is my main, fight me. Plus it makes more sense considering our top theory shows sylux being the main villain of prime 4. -prime 4 is distinct from the first 3 in that it is being made in an era where dark souls exists. This is also true for many other games but I like dark souls and this is my list so too bad. I think prime 4 should take major inspiration from the world building of dark souls but especially the actual world layout and exploration philosophy of dark souls 1, just a bit more metroidvania-ified. routes which lead to whole new areas, uncertainty ahead, and loops back to previous areas that serve as shortcuts for more expedient and efficient backtracking. I felt dark souls 1 was so well designed it didnt even need fast travel, and a world like that takes more work to compose but basically completely solves the backtracking issue metroid can have at least to a certain point. -Combat needs to be better. AI in the old prime games was pretty trash to be honest, to where it is hard for me to go back at times. I absolutely adore those games to death but this is a sore point for me. Shooting is a hard game type to get right and actually feel satisfying. It all depends on what route the developers take, my highest hope as someone who loves the aforementioned souls series, monster hunter, zelda botw, is that the AI is more interactive with visible tells and strategy to defeat the enemies, whether thats through the environment or by the tools samus is given. -last thing. I think this would be cool, moreso than an actual wish. Samus alone on a planet conveys isolation, but I think a narrative that conveys the feeling of social isolation even when surrounded by others could be cool. Certainly in metroid 5 whenever that comes out this would be cool as shes now on the run from the federation, i could see trying to blend into crowds but not really having anyone to turn to as an interesting take on isolation which appeals to I think pressing mental and emotional health difficulties people face today in the year 2020 Thats all.
@@cristiansaucedo4707 IMO they don't really necessarily need to delve into time travel. I'd be fine with just a more "what if THIS happened" alternate timeline, kinda like the Fallen Hero branch in Zelda. I'm definitely open to new elements like time travel, but I'd want them to be really well thought out, otherwise it just might not fit the tone of Metroid.

This might seem quaint, but honestly? I just want Samus to feel like Prime Samus again. Jake Randall What’s up I watch your channel 🤗
@Another1Gone yo!!!! What’s up man! Good to see ya!

Some people who use to work at id Software may be working at Retro Studios. So it could happen.

The motion control aiming was so good in Metroid Prime 3 and Trilogy that I said to myself I never wanted to play an FPS that didn't have that (obviously I do play them, but not the point). Being able to aim anywhere on screen without having to move where Samus is looking was so awesome! This is literally the only time I've ever thought motion controls we're better than traditional controls.

Don't tantalize us with that "how Nintendo could revitalize Metroid" video idea, I would watch the heck out of that
I think Samus Returns was able to revitalize the 2D series in some aspects. It introduced some fresh, new mechanics, and even modernized some old ones to a minor degree. I also think the 2.5D style was unique and allowed for more detailed environments. If a new game were to build off of that and be on the Switch, I could see it doing really well.

(Generally, the real answer is that you simply need to load another room, which doesn't always require going through a second door, but whatever)
As a result of only keeping two rooms loaded, apparently that let Retro Studios absolutely saturate the polygon count, and boy does the game look good for it, and that's on top of keeping 60fps in just about 100% of cases (I've never really seen the game dip below 60 outside of using a particular glitch for a sequence break)
Well done Yoshiller for editing the video... I feel like editors don’t get enough credit so well done Arlo for giving credit

Nah fuck that, imo the newer dooms are not true to OG doom at all and have aton of trash modern elements I wouldnt want in metroid.
PrimeMujica Agreed. I want my speed booster back. We haven’t seen the speed booster in 10 years
THIS! Exactly. Samus is supposed to be a speedy, leaping, shinesparking beast, and the Prime games, as good as they are, to me feel like they play at such molasses-level speed that I almost don't feel like there's enough Metroidness to them.
My hopes for Metroid Prime 4:
The game comes out
The game is good
“Metroid Prime 4” isn’t the final title
Metriod Prime: Samus' Awakening HD S with Dante from Devil May Cry, New Funky Kong Mode and Knuckles
Yeah its bad isnt it. Prime is dead(hopefully)

It *needs* to."
Yes, so it should focus *only* on single player, sorry. It shouldn't split it's focus on making both single and mp work for everyone, it's not worth the risk. If Prime 4 sells good, *then* they can make the next game have a good mp.
Nah, nintendo should always do multiplayer mode.
@Halcyonacoustic I'm not saying the multiplayer is bad, just that it should be left for another metroid game once the franchise is up again. Right now it should focus on making an amazing single player experience so it brings new and old fans together.
Perhaps just have a small extra online multiplayer element like Luigi’s mansion. Not like halo, something harmless to pass the time
@@chrisnguyen2316 small?
It should feel like a game from 2020.
KirbyMaster Good lord I would love a VR Metroid Prime. Trilogy, spinoff, whatever. Nintendo take my money!!!
My hope for Metroid Prime 4 is that it releases before I die!
This view count is very symbolic of the Metroid fan base as a whole. Smaller, but extremely appreciative.

Hopes/thoughts:
+ Plz don't let this tear Retro apart.

Arlo, I am literally DYING waiting to see what you have to say about the New Paper Mario. I hope you’re freaking out. I can’t wait to see your reaction video, your in depth Breath of the Wild length review. I can’t wait.
I am in massive agreement with ye're suggestions. I honestly think that an increased amount of success is posible with the following factors:
-As you said, an optional array of control schemes.
-Graphics on par (not necessarily superior to) with other shooters at a silky smooth 60fps
-Taking those multiplayer elements from Hunters, Prime 2 and Federation Force to make solid side modes and a new multiplayer mode with a decently good competitive meta (Say Halo/CoD esque team matches where you play as different-color teams of Federation Troopers and/or Space Pirates, and then a free-for-all type mode in the spirit of Smash where you choose an array of bounty hunters across the entire series, and then maybe that possible co-op mode you mentioned).
It is an easy cash grab that people want anyways. Frankly I don't see a reason not to make a collection or even a remake.
Chintex Agreed!
I'm just waiting for his Paper Mario video
Arlo must be freaking out now. (The paper Mario trailer dropped)
Yes, Arlo. Give us all the Metroids. I need to listen to people talk about it more. I need more Metroid in my life. Please.
Yus, more discussions please. I never was into the games, but I am very fascinated by the series and just YES PLEASE MORE OF THEM!
Bro.. I think you're gonna be happy at what they announced
Hex I could see that.
Zak Thomas I would die for a sequel to fusion, but also a remake of fusion would be amazing that was my introduction to the series and is still my favorite.
I post here to say I'm waiting for this paper mario video :D
Since Paper Mario got revealed, a 2D Metroid may be coming.
New trailer was hype
"Like every other shooter in the past decade." * Sad Splatoon noises
"Whaddya say we do some more testin'"
Now I really want an Arlo review of Portal.
Hopefully it gets ported to Switch.
This is the first Arlo video I've seen in 1080p.
My biggest hope for Metroid Prime 4 is that we actually get it...
My hopes for Metroid prime 4 is they finish and release the thing.
ARLOOOOOOO NINTENDO JUST REVEALED PAPER MARIO FOR SWITCH OMG 😨
Man, can't wait for two Arlo videos two days in a row! That Paper Mario trailer dropped at a great time
Arlo the paper Mario trailer must be blowing your mind right now.
Arlo manage to predict paper mario
New Paper Mario HYYYPEEE!! Are you still breathing, Arlo?
Hello Howdy Arlo my man
1. YES make more metroid content, if this comment counts as a vote, thats my vote, metroid is my pikmin
2. This video is so relatable ;-; because I HAVE A LIST TOO!!!
I pray and hope you will read it and enjoy it
-I want specifically the multiplayer to be a modernized version of metroid prime hunters because it is unique, it's fun, trace is my main, fight me.
Certainly in metroid 5 whenever that comes out this would be cool as shes now on the run from the federation, i could see trying to blend into crowds but not really having anyone to turn to as an interesting take on isolation which appeals to I think pressing mental and emotional health difficulties people face today in the year 2020
Thats all.
Yes PLEASE make the videos about the Metroid series! I would LOVE to see your take on them!
Arlo, your wish came true. Paper Mario Switch aka Paper Mario: Origami King is a thing and it looks amazing. July 27th 2020.
Let's all come back here in 20 years time, aka the day of release!
The day of production restarting*
@@thegay so true
Don't say that.......just......please don't
They should just pull an ocarina of time and create alternate timelines for more story freedom
Ya to be honest we're talking about what might be this series last shot (at least in 3d), really shouldn't have to limit themselves creatively
Time travel fits because of the sci-fi setting. How about dimensions? Maybe related to Samus' time on Aether in Metroid Prime 2.
Arlo, you are going to FLIP when you wake up this morning
you're going to love the new trailer for paper mario
