    Obi-Wan Figure: Of course I know him, he's me...

    Incredible likeness of one of my all-time favourite actors, especially that 3/4 angle and profile! I saw this figure for sale in a pop-shop in Chester years ago when it would've still been pretty new. I'd never thought about collecting Hot Toys back then, but I was tempted! Wish I had've bought it now! 😭 What an investment! Quality vid, mate! 👍

    This figure is a genuine work of art, just about the best creation of Ben Kenobi in a figure that one could even imagine, let alone be able to own. A Hot Toys classic, and like you perhaps TK421, the figure that really made me a collector. Saw that head sculpt, had to have it, next thing I know I'm shelling out the big bucks, lol. Mine is actually the only unused Hot Toy I have, the little piece of cellophane film on the name-plate was even still attached! Cost a few bob, but worth every penny.
    The figure is perfect in almost every way, the lightsaber is just an amazing recreation of the hilt used in ANH, really wonderful in something so small. It's a shame the robe comes out of the box rather wrinkled in the back, but I suspect those will fall out gradually with time if the figure stands up on display, (and if you're really brave or just handy about the house, lol, you can apparently take an iron to it.) Not sure if it is screen accurate, but that thinness of the inner robe makes sense to me, and goes with the tattiness of the outer robe. Remember these are clothes old Ben has been wearing for many years in that harsh desert environment, he's been patching them up repeatedly and cloth like that would have worn thin.

    • @TK421Collectibles
      @TK421Collectibles  Год назад +1

      Cool you managed to pick this one up brand new!! You're right he's an absolute classic! I am kinda liking the creased up robe tbh (just had a look after you and Daniel's discussion in the comments earlier 😀 I'm just thinkin if he's wearing the robe a lot of the time its going to get creased, especially if he tumble drys it 😅
      I've just been watching the scene in his home where he's talking to Luke and the white/cream under robe is definitely thicker than it's portrayed in 1/6 scale. But I can understand that at this scale you couldn't have a thick under robe and then a thick brown robe as he would probably look too bulky. And as he is on the shelf he looks absolutely perfect! Like you say, a genuine work of art!! Thanks for checking out the video mate! 😀🙌

    • @Raygo.
      @Raygo. Год назад

      @@TK421Collectibles Like I said to you, Chris, great minds think alike! I've just been watching the movie again too for the same reason. And you're right, the under robe doesn't look thin, except in one or two places. But the colour looks a shade darker than on our beloved figure, so he must have scorched it a bit in that tumble drier! 😁
      Great vid as always, my friend! Always a pleasure. ☺

    A firm favourite with so many collectors for sure and a real example of how good hot toys are with more mature characters shall we say😂. Alec Guinness all day long isn’t it? so impressive for a figure from back in the day. A must have for OG enthusiasts isn’t he and there will not be another one in terms of an Alec Guinness likeness. Continue to enjoy your trip down memory lane highlighting some of the very best figures hot toys have ever done in my opinion, do keep the videos coming , top notch seeing theses classics again🤩 . I always loved the head sculpt of this Obi-Wan. One of their best early works. Sadly, it’s a figure I’ve never owned as the aftermarket prices have always been ridiculous. Currently making do with a custom version made with the Sideshow Obi-Wan parts, which is fairly decent. 😊. Hope they do a version 2.0 someday.

    Fantastic figure, even if he doesn't have a genuine leather, fur-lined bomber jacket. 😂 (inside joke, to everyone else)
    You should take an iron to his brown robe - I've noticed they always end up with excessive wrinkles in the center after spending a long time in the box. I managed to get most of the wrinkles out of mine, but leave enough so it still has that worn look. Put a t-shirt between the robe and iron so you don't scorch the cloth.
    Great vid as always.

    • @Raygo.
      @Raygo. Год назад

      A good observation, those wrinkles in the robe are a shame, and stick out to a critical eye. But... take an iron? I think I might die from stress trying it! 😆
      Maybe just as well I don't own an iron. 😏

    • @daniel_sc1024
      @daniel_sc1024 Год назад +1

      @@Raygo. Mine was more wrinkled than this one, and it ironed out okay. Like I said, I put a t-shirt in between, as I didn't know how the fabric would react. It turned out just fine. The only time I have used my iron in the last ten years has been to iron sixth scale clothes. 🤣🤣

    • @TK421Collectibles
      @TK421Collectibles  Год назад

      I'm tempted to kit bash Kenobi with a bomber jacket now! 🤣
      To be honest I never noticed the wrinkles on the brown robe!! I guess I subconsciously just put it down to it being a tatty, creased up robe because of the amount of time he's spent in the Jundland Wastes! I have worse creases in my own clothes tbh mainly because I don't do ironing!! 🤣

His portrait is interesting to me because it’s definitely Alec Guinness, but he also looks a bit more hale and hearty to me, maybe a bit more heroic or idealized. Have you tried 99% hand sanitizer on the paint stains? I did on another figure and it wiped off. The paint on the figure should be fine but if the staining is just paint rub or from the dye in the robe it might just wipe off with the hand sanitizer. I was so lucky to get this figure, we got all our new hope figures for great deals and mostly used trade in credit too. Very underrated I think, people always rate the head sculpt but forget about the figure as a whole.
