I'm also considered poor. Life has become money and it's evil as the saying goes. 😢

According to MY european country's standard, I'm poor. It only seem to get worse for regular civilians of european countries. The prices of food and other necessities are insane. The rich people become richer though...

Hi Just Brilliant. I wondered this, too. At 48:11, 2017 was mentioned for an Irish childcare incentive. Not sure this is a true date, but (don’t know if you felt this, too) there is no mention at all about Covid-19. And further mention of 2020 as the EU target to resolve their woes. This a very grim topic - reality sucks- but, that as ide, I hope, from one Earthling to another, for your life to be happy, safe, and healthful. When things are bleak, we still need to be kind to ourselves and each other.

mass immigration maybe? the fact that European countries have moved away from production to a service economy which tend to require a more educated work-force?

At the start of your episode, there is no mention of at-risk immigrant populations and their specific struggles. E.G.: It is great when one country helps another in crisis and open their doors for their refugees need who need a safe place to live. I worry, based on where i live, Canada, the cost of living is eroding, similar, in part, like places in this programme. So, commendable as it is, I wonder how is an immigrant going to survive in my city that has the most expensive housing in Canada. We have a shortage of medical professionals yet there are unnecessary barriers impeding or stopping an immigrant medical person from getting employment with their skillset. They end up doing low paying jobs. Resentment (anti-immigration, racism, sexism, poor-bashing, NIMBY, etc) can fester, fed by propaganda spewed by media, politicians, and the ignorant. Us versus Them. They are taking our jobs, homes, etc. We are born and raised here, why should They get * when government won’t help me with *.
Seeing this show is another scary reminder, yes, European and North American middle class (i don’t know about the rest of the world, but guess i’s the same) is disappearing; aging populations increasing, etc. etc. Plain and simple- the rich are soulless leeches getter richer and richer by sucking the rest of us dry, eroding humane-ness to each along the way. And thanks to Right wing politics and attitudes these are reinforcing the status quo.
