I was called by Ellen to help prevent animal control from coming to take Rosa away.

Cesar what if my dog starts pulling himself when I’m walking him but I’m walking slow as a calm state and what to do if he starts pulling himself to go with a dog while I’m telling him not too?
I am learning far more than just my behavior and energy, and how how dogs respond, but also how humans respond.
It honestly breaks my heart when owners at least TRY n fail and you can see it in their faces how heart broken they are cause they love their dogs but dont understand how to control it...

The moment he stood next to her, the dog calmed down. She ignored the other dog and stood close to Cesar.
That is purely because he radiates calmness. Most people stress out and are high in adrenaline when dogs behave badly.
That immediate change in Rosa's behavior was incredible. People have no idea that they are causing their dog's behavior
It's crazy that millions of people watch this show. And no one gets that THEY are the reason.
Sometimes its not the owner at fault because you get people like me that take on troubled dogs and rehabilitate them but some dogs that have had bad pasts just cant get past the trauma they have been through which was the case with my dog that recently had to be put down due to health issues he was fear aggressive with other dogs and certain types of people and no matter how much i tried to rehabilitate him nothing worked so all i could do was muzzle him and keep him on a chain leash when out on a walk as he could snap fabric leashes and i have grown up rehabilitating rescue dogs and never had that problem until i got him
Lots of us know.....and just have real trouble getting into cesars energy....it is hard! Of course my dog isnt nearly this bad, but he is definitely more reactive to things with me than my partner. Im tryin....the instructions cesar gives are hard to put into practice. Somwtimes im just tense! And sometimes i relax and dog doesnt!
@@stephw1363 the trick is to be calm, confident and walk with a purpose and also dont react and put tension on the lead if you see another dog before your dog does because if you do your sending that tension straight down the lead to your dog and then you have more chance of your dog becoming reactive hope that helps you
@@stephanierobinson3860 well....i do get the concept....but often he sees things before i do and runs to end of leash and pulls and barks....he is not really aggressive but more excited about meeting people and dogs....our neighborhood is very quiet and especially with the pandemic that is just a really novel thing that he doesnt usually see so hasnt any habituation really. Cars goin by he will still focus on me....but i do try to make sure im not tightening leash or changing my pace when i see someone in the distance....he tenses up anyway i think i may just be a bad leader!

Yup, somebody didn't pay attention, when Cesar said he trains owners (and rehabilitates dogs), so in this case, Linda was better, and the dog followed.

Cesar's handling of dogs is magical. There is no other way to describe the IMMEDIATE change when Cesar takes the leash. I am absolutely fascinated by him and his deep knowledge and understanding of animals.
And he is real and genuine, no fakeness about him whatsoever. Everything he does and says is from the heart. I would love to meet him in real life.
Even South Park couldn't make fun of him lol he just took the lead 😆

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting him in London when the flight both he and we were on got cancelled. He was so casual and relaxed and took his time to talk to us. Just so kind and calm and relaxing haha. As the huge fan I am I of course politely asked for a picture which we got. We lived close to his home in Santa Clarita and he said we were always welcome to come visit the DPC since we were “neighbors”. My only regret is not visiting before we left the US permanently. Maybe we’ll get a chance to visit some other time.
I like people on this show like this woman, she is not sure what shes doing wrong yet but shes grateful of the opportunity to learn and tries her best without whining

I have trained dogs for 20 plus years, I have watched pretty much everything cesar does, I think I can read dogs almost as well as him, BUT, his ability to calm a dog and have a conversation with it and in such a short space of time is truly incredible. I am humbled and in awe of his skill and ability and hope that I can attain even 10% of what he does in the time he does it. Amazing!

I find it interesting when the word energy is used, it is a good and simplistic way of talking about radiating your emotion. Dog language is strongly biased towards body language, in other words, as cesar describes "head up, shoulders back, walk tall and calm or as he would say calm assertive energy" this body language is show the dog that you are the pack leader and they can be.. Well just happy go lucky because the pack leader has everything under control. It's not necessarily emitting energy but about how your dog and other dogs read your body language.
I totally agree Steve ...Ive been training GSDS for 50 yrs..and Im in total awe of Cesar and what he does..To all the people who bash him and say his methods are abusive.... they dont know WTH they're talking about!!!! The man is amazing !!
Its all about your energy/demeanor with the dog.. dogs can read human energy in a way that's un explainable. Most owners tense up, get nervous and give their dog the wrong signals when they expect a problem. The dog reads that nervous energy and usually thinks they're protecting the human. Or the human gets frustrated and then the dog feels like you're angry with them. That's the reason caesar is ALWAYS telling owners to be Calm, confident & 100% sure..
Its scary ironic that by avoiding proper training and consistent boundaries (what some call abuse) is more harmful for the dog.
@@darkcellador idk some people on cesars show have no idea of the basics of dog training or training any domesticated animal. if you literally don't know the simplest tactics how you even getting a dog
@@darkcellador Even more scary ironic: people will talk smack about Cesar's way, calling it abuse, shunning anyone who is a fan of Cesar. These people have taken over at shelters with political correctness & cliques. They run off *a lot* of good people who would foster/volunteer. That leads to more dogs in the shelter longer, fewer spaces (more euthanasia to make room). It's like letting perfection be the enemy of good(!).
That's a best-case analysis -- assuming their way is perfection. But, it's not. These people tend to have the least balanced dogs. They hold everyone else to high standard, and then they can't even foster themselves because they have dogs who don't get along with each other. They celebrate that they rescued these dogs, "that's just how he is." Oblivious to how their perfectionism (about all-positive training) leads to more dogs sitting in shelters waiting for outlet. (As well as running off good people who could foster and find outlets.).
I remember one who complained how, after 6 months her foster still remained in the bedroom hiding. I asked if she used a leash to keep the dog nearby while in the house (prevent hiding). She said that would be like abuse. The dog has to choose on its own. No amount of treats and coo'ing "it's ok, it's ok..." was working.
Which is abuse? Giving a dog rules/boundaries/limitations so it can move on to a different way of existing more balanced? Or, being obsessed with a principle that doesn't work? Letting the dog not move on for months just because the principle (all positive) is more important? (While more dogs pile up at the shelter.).
It's nuts. They'l use hyperbole to say Cesar "hits and kicks" dogs, deliberately misrepresenting what's happening (and how Cesar says there should never be impatience/frustration/anger). It's just correcting the dog with enough energy for it to hear. If the dog is a higher level of activity/focus, it needs more intensity to hear the leader's correct. It's like a vibrating collar's 1-10 dial. Different dogs need more. (A timid dog would be startled by a mild leash pop. An intensely focused aggressive dog wouldn't feel it.). If you were talking to someone hard of hearing, these people would say "you were yelling & screaming at them. No, no... don't argue with me. It doesn't matter what you say you were doing, it looked like yelling & screaming so that's what it is. I know more about it than you do."
It's an ugly personality where they push others down to feel better about themselves. Read Aesop's fable about "the dog in the manger." That's exactly the personality involved. They're motivated to maintain an "us vs them" identity, all bad, all good (splitting, "black/white think" in psychology) than they are about being honest.
I always ask: if Cesar's way is so bad, invalid, worth of "call out & cancel," why hasn't someone created a multi-season series showing something vastly better? At best there are other styles showing the same results. Cesar's way can't be that bad if it's getting the same results. How can it be bad, but work so well? If it's that bad, you'd think it would be glaringly obvious. Not just people insisting it's bad because it "looks bad." Or, "studies say..."

My puppy has been aggressive and after taking him to the vet, the vet explained to me it was me handling him and spoiling him that would heighten him, ever since I started being calm and assertive, it's like I have a completely different dog. Watching this video solifies that

@@bethbloom4428 The mistake of many puppy owners is to remove them if a suspicious dog appears. In fact, dogs do not bite puppies (puppy - up to about 1.5-2 years). Therefore, in order for your puppies to have no aggression, you do not need to drag them away from large dogs.

Check any kind of negative (frustrating,anxious,nervous) energy out the door before handling the dog. You are talking with your BODY and ENERGY. if the dogs sensing your in "distress" or feeling upset/not well they react in a "heightened/alert /protective" way. Picture your listening to waves on a beach or hearing light rain ..whatever visually to calm and not feel anything but CALM.
Same here. I have two dogs and they both are aggressive towards other dogs. I need to keep studying this video and practicing.
Practice makes perfection. I have a 4year old boy and girl boxers, thanks to Cesar's advices they're more well behaved. But we still have room for improvement
Keep at it! Just by working to get better you're showing that you care for your dog(s) and it's great that you're making the effort.

I can relate when she said she doesn’t know what she does exactly to cause Rosa to react that way. It’s actually really hard to figure out what the trigger is for some, especially if you’re not mindful about yourself.
You can see the anticipation she has of a dog attack the way she walked after getting the dog out of the car.
It’s not the dog it’s the human. The human needs therapy to calm their own internal struggles. It’s not about learning how to teach the dog. Teach yourself how to calm your anxiety and stress.
I agree - my dog will have a fun hour of chasing the ball, swimming etc, then we walk by another dog while on the way home and he goes crazy! I guess it’s my energy. However I also think my dog thinks he’s the boss.

You have to think about it like "we are together and I trust you'll follow me." Not "we're strolling along me, me and dog, all hunky dorey" till some stimulus comes around. You are in charge, you are the leader, you put the food on their table, you decide when they can leave, when they pee, where they poo, who they meet. It's having confidence in yourself to be first with that dog because you are the alpha of their pack. If you put yourself in front they will stand right with you no matter what. That's the best part of dogs, if you love them they will love you. The best part of having a dog with you is if you lead them it's because you have the confidence to lead them and they're simple enough to get that and follow you because they love you. Dogs make you believe in yourself.
Leadership is not something you just decide you are going to do. It takes practice. I dare say parents mislead their kids all the time and get into problems. Patience and commitment fueled by love is what everyone needs.

I would think of it like this " How many humans has this man helped?" The change comes from the human first to change the dogs behaviour. If human doesn't change so doesn't the dog.

I have a boxer/pitbull mix we got as a puppy. He was the sweetest dog that loved just about everyone and friendly with other dogs & cats. Then when he was 3 yrs old while we were on a walk, someones pitbull broke out of their poorly built fence and jumped on our dog instantly. Our dog was biting back but has an underbite & just couldn't hardly defend himself plus the attacking dog was solid rock. My husband was finally able to break it up and our dog came away with minor injuries physically but it completely changed him. It's been nearly 2 years since and he still gets highly aggressive and lunges at any dogs we walk by or that walk by our fence. We had to quit taking our RV out camping because he is to aggressive at parks and we have to walk him very late (like 11pm -1am) when nobody else is out and about. Our veterinarian doesn't even like when we have appointments because even with a muzzle it takes 3 to 4 people just to give him a shot. Maybe it's just me that's tense but I don't feel tense until he starts to lunge.
What I actually learned from Cesar video’s is that the dog does not need training but the owner needs plenty of dog training

Cesar changed my life in 2006. I got to enjoy the best dog in the world ho was my best friend. Cesars techniques taught me how to build trust and rapport w my animal. He past away right before his 16th bday. Miss him everyday.

The key word to understand what Cesar is trying to communicate to Linda is "authority". If there is no leader, ultimately someone will take that role, either from inside the group (Domestic Violence Center) or outside of it (in this case Rosa took it).
Yeah, really broke my heart to see that woman try so darn hard to do all that Cesar is asking but fall short. To no real fault of her own. She was just being her sweet, demur self. Unfortunately when dogs sense that they will take over. That is animal nature. Wish I could have seen the outcome of this episode.
It's wonderful to see how Cesar changes the dog's behavior so quickly with his calm and confident energy, but I would like to see a video where the human that he is training has success and we get to see the change in the relationship with the dog.

I just adopted my first dog today! He is a big excited boy almost the same weight as me. I love him but it was quite hard at first when he was jumping all over me. My non-leader instinct told me to back off but I kept calm and followed every rule Cesar taught us. It worked amazingly well! After only one day he already knows to wait for food and not going into our bedroom. I’m so grateful towards Cesar for all those precious knowledge. Thank you so so much Cesar!

Rosa wants to take charge and protect her pack. If Linda can connect to her own style of body language of confidence then Rosa will see a confident alpha whom Rosa can trust to take back the lead. Energy is a real thing, people!! :-)

Ceaser is so handsome he never ages I would watch him on animal planet he is still a wonderful person and a strong leader despite life's setbacks he is my hero.
It’s amazing how much they respond to energy-also funny that Cesar ran at a lady whose whole life no doubt involves being scared of men attacking women...I’m sure she carries that-as we all do with different things-around all the time and the dog becomes it sorta. Ceasar is a really powerful, energetically aware man!

I've been watching you since I was in the 5th grade and I'm 23 years old now. My mom never allowed me to have a dog but just around a year ago my girlfriend and I just adopted a beautiful Pitbull Terrier. I'm so happy that all those years of watching I'm finally getting to apply your wisdom!

Every single episode is always the exact same problem. Everyone knows and loves Cesar, and no one does what he teaches. It's incomprehensible to me.
I guess people have a really hard time leading without speaking and leading in general.

There's a gap between taking what he teaches and putting it into practice...but it's great that she's very open to making herself a better owner.

I just want to know why your videos are soo short this days; No longer like before when they last like 30 minutes with a specific case and the details. @@dropkoo - That is not true. Most bushcraft channels have much longer videos than this. I follow many of them. And if the videos are too short to learn anything from them, people will unsubscribe. But comments are disappearing everywhere, and it must be RUclips doing that. They need competition..

Yeah, Linda understood that her behavior might be interpreted by the dog as being excited. That's a great achievement already.
I thank you Cesar Milan. Since over this last year my sweet Hazel has become slightly aggressive towards other dogs. New area more dog walkers and ME definitely tension on leash. Your videos and reminders of what it once was; can be again.
My fear not hers.
She goes absolutely everywhere with me doctors, buses, stores. She helps me when I fall I know she has lost her way a bit and so have I. I know if WE work, train, and play together we will find out structure and grove again. Thank you again Hazel and I will keep watching.

In shows the filming crew will do a lot of recording without cesar ever being there so that's why they are surprised when they see him without being told he'd be there that day.

@@theylive2749 An irresponsible dog owner would make absolutely no effort to correct the issue. As you can obviously blatantly see here, she is making an effort to correct the problem. With professional help. So no, she is not an irresponsible dog owner. She is an owner acknowledging a problem and trying to fix it. How do you expect to correct this behavior without being outside around other dogs? You can't. Evaluate a situation before you bash someone.

You can feel Linda's energy of mild nervousness/confidence thru the screen. Rosa is responding to THAT and the tension on the leash. Linda is a strong energy that needs to really chill, like- zen out/meditate. Then she will understand the level if calm she needs to be for Rosa to understand.
I’ve got my 19 mth old chihuahua trained to the point where she’ll sit on command during a walk. All the while I hear Cesar’s voice in my head....she’ll be pulling on the leash and I’ll jerk it, then hear Cesar in my head say, no, give it a pop. Lol I didn’t want a a little terror ruling the roost. She’s still learning but I’m confident she’s gonna be awesome.
I’m tense just watching. I can see how excited and tense Linda is each time she has the leash.
Bravo to the lady dog owner for owning it and be open about criticism. Often productive criticism is not welcomed and are taken personal. First step is to recognize the problem. Cesar is the best. I respect and follow everything he teaches. Have been for over 15 years. ♥️
Hey Cesar, my dog is fear based reactive and I love watching your videos. Today we managed to walk past a Labrador and a Greyhound both less then 10 meters away and he’s doing amazing! It’s hard especially with all the verbal abuse we get but he’s my best friend and I would (and will) do it all again.
Yes we have a similar situation (not always but the Shepherds across the street - definitely) with our German Shepherd. I have to work on this, thank you.

Wow Cesar, I can't even begin to describe how u do it, but this is like magic. It doesn't matter how dangerous the dog might b, but the way u handle them, is priceless.

My dog almost always flips on male dogs too, no matter how confidently I try to walk him. Would love to see more of this.

It purely depends on the dog! Both my dogs have different attitude towards things
One is very hyper and aggressive
Other is calm and easy going

It's also not every male. My dog usually tries to get a sense of the other dog's personality. First they smell each other, and then they lock eyes, what happens during this eye lock is what defines what comes next. If the other dog is submissive, it's all good, but if he's confrontational in any way, my dog gets triggered.

I have learned so much by these videos. Your energy and everything Cesar teaches is so true! There is a dog that charges the fence ad barks that we walk by when I walk my dog's, and when I was not in control my dogs would pull me over to that dog, BUT this time I was calm positive and in control. My dogs didn't pull at all, in fact that dog didn't even bark at us and my dogs ignored him! I'm amazed! I love Cesar! 💘 And I have told everyone I know that has a dog to watch him. Thank you Cesar!
