I loved it! No DIY grid, no pen tool and fully fleshed out the world too rather than just doing one building. I also enjoyed that you didn't build rectangular shapes.
I'd like to see all the process at the end including the ladder, the bridge, the beginning of the river, the shadows... but i love it anyway. Thanks for the great vids!
This is amazing! I created my own version of floating island last night and I didn't realize that there was an easier way like this. Your tutorial made my work easier. Thank you!
Thank you so much ma'am! This has been a wonderful tutorial! I'm gonna watch your tutorials more often. Your way of teaching is so simple and easy to understand!
Omg I’m so grateful to you for your wonderful tutorials. Even for me, Russian with bad English ur tutorials clear and simple. Thank you. ‘ll wait for new videos
Excellent session. I have taught this stuff for a long while and clarity with which you demonstrate is wonderful. My students will love your techniques and follow this channel. Thank you
IM HERE FOR THE ROCKS.... but, your videos are sharp and crisp. I have been looking for this for a while. WOULD YOU MIND TO MAKE A VIDEO JUST HOW TO MAKE ROCKS, BOULDERS, CLUSTERS OF ROCKS... ISOMETRIC CLIFFS.. THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE on tutorials...I have been trying with many different techniques with out achieving what I want... but i found your great channel. thank you so much...you got my subscription.
This is a great tutorial and I was able to follow almost everything except making the river. For some reason, when I try to make the clipping mask, it would disappear and the thing I was tying to make the clipping mask from turns blue. Or there is a pop-up saying I can't create a clipping mask with the path I selected.
For some reason I had the feeling in my mind like creating a floating island would be way more difficult than creating something like a house on land. (When really it's just moving pixels.) 😅
I created the rocks just like the island, with the 3d tools. After that, I expanded the appearance and added extra shapes with the Pen Tool in lighter or darker colors. Give it a try
select the grass shape and make a copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C) and then move it to the front (object-arrange-front), the. you select the river shapes and the copied grass and apply the clipping mask: Ctrl/Cmd + 7, or under object-clipping mask-make
Yash Beri, select the top grass shape and simply use the shortcut SHIFT+CMD+] to put it on top of everything (if all is on one layer), or you could go to Object>Arrange>Bring to Front
John van der v. Use the direct selection tool and select the grass shape. You can use the selection tool as well but your grass might be grouped and you want to select the top shape only. Then create a copy, use the shortcut cmd + c and paste it exactly in front, cmd + f. Keep it selected and make sure it’s on top of the other grass shapes and the river. Then select just the copied top grass shape and the river and make the clipping mask, cmd+7. Let me know if it works for you!
Hey! I'm a bit of a beginner with illustrator and I love your video so far but when I try to use the lasso tool on the extrude and bevelled island shape it doesn't let me select it the bottom half of the shape. I've turned illustrator off and on again and reset the workspace, just in case it was a software issue but its still not working. Does anyone have any idea why that might be? Thank you ! :)
Make sure to select the bottom with the direct selection tool (white arrow too) and make sure before you do that to expand the shape (object > expand )
Hi.. thanks for the great video but can you please help me? Every single time I try to make a copy of the grass on the top and paste it in front it never want to paste it in front of the river.. it's always on the top of everything except the river even if I did all as you explained. Thanks in advance.

That's a really interesting technique. It's especially nice for the lightning. Maybe I can replicate that in Affinity Designer.

hye , im still new here. i still dont get it how to create the rock like u did in 8:40 . can u give the guide ? thanks

Vectortwist i try . Thanks so much
my roughen tool box only shows absolute in "inches" and not pixels. any advice for me?
perfect from iran
Naice.
How to get the shadows? Mine are much darker than yours :(
You can adjust that in the 3D tools settings, or change the color after you expanded the shapes
Great
Клево! Thx a lot madam)
you are welcome!
Awsome
thanks :)
Thanks you a lot! It's an amazing lesson! But I have some problem: after expand appearance on 2:37 I have some little borders on the ground of island
that's probably due to a stroke you had around your shape. try with just a fill.
Vectortwist merci, my problem is solved :)
Ivan Kartsev bienvenue 🙂
I need help @ 6:51. How do I copy it and layer the clipping mask
select the grass shape and make a copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C) and then move it to the front (object-arrange-front), the. you select the river shapes and the copied grass and apply the clipping mask: Ctrl/Cmd + 7, or under object-clipping mask-make
What is T?
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you
@@olivermutalemumba2913 typing mistake, it means "it" :)
How do I select the river shapes and grass? Do I use selection tool or direct selection tool?
AT 6:47, how do you create that copy to the front?
Yash Beri, select the top grass shape and simply use the shortcut SHIFT+CMD+] to put it on top of everything (if all is on one layer), or you could go to Object>Arrange>Bring to Front
@ 6:51 this doesn;'t work. please explain what you did because you cut out some and it goes really fast at once. I'm just unable to make a mask.
How do you copy the grassland it to the front to clip the river?
object>arrange>brint to front

once I expand appearance, I cannot see any anchor points at all. can u help with this?
I am having similar issue

Abdullah Mohsen make sure your grass is on another layer below the river. Let me know if this helps you.
@@Vectortwistthank you, I did it already by just keep ungrouping things and it worked somehow, thank you again ^_^
@ArisGPvP just select the Iceland and then right click it then you can find ungroup
Wow
damn idk what happened to my lasso tool it cant trace my object what happened? or should i just restart or something else.
I have no clue, Illustrator glitch, just restart, it never happened to me, but also make sure you don't have any layers or objects locked
❤❤❤❤
Weldon,
Good tutorial but ending was too fast. I have no idea how to make bridge, ladder and tent.
Just another thing Photoshop cant do
