Tyler Childers & High Wall - Cap'n Jerry

- On May 29, 2013, Red Barn Radio experienced a cancellation. Arthur Hancock filled in with his band, High wall, Arthur Hancock - banjo, Jesse Wells - fiddle, Scott Napier - mando, and Scott Wilmoth - bass. With the band there was a little known (at the time) Tyler Childers. This is first song of that show, his fist with Red Barn Radio, and as they say, the rest is history.

Enough to piss a guy off. This is incredible.
and think about how much more they have just sitting around
I'm right there with yall! Incredible
Right??!!!
This needs to be on Apple Music
hey guys if anyone is dying to learn Tylers part of this song on guitar I've posted a tab on Ultimate Guitar. I think it's pretty accurate and there's no other tabs ANYWHERE. But this is a hidden gem so I decided to tab it out chord for chord, along with the lyrics. Enjoy!
Just now learning this. Saw the tab first, now I see your comment. You’re the goat dude!
Thank you 🙏
Arthur coming in hot on that banjo!
I can listen to TC all day every day
Wow, that's a sound. Would love to see him with a bluegrass band.
Umm, this is a bluegrass band playing with him. I would love to see him do what Billy strings was able to do and play with Michael Cleveland. I was lucky enough to see Michael play when he was a kid at his cousin's house. It was among seeing the talent flow out of someone so young. I would love to see what he would be able to do with Tyler.
@@bobbylloyd9208 Is this bluegrass? I thought this was more of a techno style band. I'm aware it's bluegrass. I mean albums, touring, it's a good sound for his voice.
My daughter just turned 1 and I love to sing Tyler's songs to her. Really looking forward to learning this one and soon singing it to her
when you do would you do the world a favor and post it to Tabs? I love learning his stuff but I’m not good enough to pick it out from the vid
@@calahanprestwich2045 I'll try, tho I don't think I'm a very good singer lol
Sing her, Whitehouse Road 🤣 my 5 year old loves Childers, too

This is Music. Plain and simple.
This boy can sing it
Lyrics:
I roam these hills carrying the fox I found
And when I’m tired I’ll lay it down
And get myself a drink of water
But I will keep on through til I’ve reached your door
Lay the hide out on the floor
Give you Cap’n Jerry’s fifty dollars
He said he’s sorry he could not stay
But there were things that couldn’t wait
He’ll be back when he tends to business
But I’d fear you’d think the cap’n was an unjust man
So I thought I’d lend a hand
And bring back the debt he owed you
And who knows along the way
I might find myself a reason
As to why I live this way
Runnin’ up and down these dirty streets
Throwing my money so I don’t sleep alone
Look at straight ahead and he’s on his way
Ridin’ for the same old thing
I guess it was perfect timin’
Cause my heart is strong but my bones they ache
But they always do these days
For livin’ like a drunken heathen
And who knows along the way
I might find myself a reason
As to why I live this way
Runnin’ up and down these dirty streets
Throwing my money so I don’t sleep alone
Tyler Childers is the GOAT
This great song has a true timeless feel--thank you for this, Tyler.
Got me all excited when I saw this pop up. Thought Tyler was back…
me too !
He writing new music. Pretty sure he’s working on a new album.
He never left ..? His music has been been engraved in our souls for the rest of this life ... Is Hank gone ? Is Waylon ? No they will forever be here and a part of who we are ... I know what you mean tho ..
@@buddyturner4975 oh wow. You’re just so meta aren’t you?
Hank is dead. Waylon is dead. Dead people don’t make new music do they? You donut
You know what that meant. Tyler is a young man who has a lot more music he can put out should he want to.
@@colejames423 "you donut" is crazy
Here before this blows up like crazy
God I love this guy. Insanely talented.
Man after mounds of listens, this is my new favorite from Tyler
got me in my feels fr fr

Guys I’m looking for an old video of Childers singing White House road on acoustic on a front porch of a house with some buddies. I can’t seem to find it anymore but it’s an absolute must watch
The concert One?

Crazy they took it off and reposted it. I bet he was gonna put it on an album

I think 1,000 of the 19,000 views on this video are from me
Red barn I’m mad at you
Does anyone know what he's saying in the third verse after he says " Look straight ahead..."?
I reckon it’s “Arron is on his way, ridin for the same old thing”
LYRICS:
[Verse 1]

Lay the hide out on the floor
Give you Cap’n Jerry’s fifty dollars
[Verse 2]
He said he’s sorry he could not stay

He’ll be back when he tends to business
But I feared you’d think the Cap’n was an unjust man
So I thought I’d lend a hand
And bring back the debt he owed you

And who knows along the way
I might find myself a reason
As to why I live this way
Runnin’ up and down thesе dirty streets
Throwing my money so I don’t sleep alone
[Verse 3]

Someone give me the lyrics? Lol
I wish he would get back to making music like this. His new stuff isn’t near as good as this
Childers was better when he was on the booze, new stuff is trash
