Hoffman Hall reflects a traditional design of hallways with rooms on either side of the corridor. Most rooms are arranged in suites with two students to a room and two rooms sharing a bath. Residents are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their bathroom.
Hoffman Hall also has a kitchen facility with a microwave oven, vending services, study lounges, TV lounge, and laundry facilities. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the entire building.
Hoffman Hall was completed in 1964 and renovated in 2008. It was named in honor of Margaret Vance Hoffman, a member of the English department faculty for 43 years.
A typical room in Hoffman Hall has:
Two XL twin beds with innerspring mattresses (beds are bunkable and height adjustable; underneath clearance: 5" to 28")
Two individual desks with chairs
Two built-in closets
Two chests of drawers
Fluorescent/LED lighting
Roller shades
Wireless Internet
TV cable hookup
Bamboo wood floors
Cinderblock walls (white poster putty or commands strips recommended)
This building is air-conditioned
Cooling/Heating Instructions
This building will automatically switch between heating and cooling based on the outside air temperature. The outside temperature will need to be in the mid to low 50s for this change to occur. With this building, it is possible for the heat to be on at night and for cooling to be on during the day.
