One of the best projects I have seen in this program for many years. So well thought through, so well executed and so natural in its blending of house, garden and pond… Brilliant
Being almost anywhere in England offers many potential experiences similar to this so don't give up on England. As a Canadian I can assure you, in my 40s, drawn to England from about age 5, England is 1,000x more amazing than I could have ever dreamed after two trips, both including the North and the South and in summer and winter. England's not perfect of course, but if you liked this video, please understand it's not something made in isolation; it's more the rule than the exception.

A truly beautiful home. Love this program, love how Kevin presents it too -often not pulling any punches (other builds), and I agree with the other comments - one of the best projects I've seen on GD.
This is one of the best home with a complete resort look. V innovative ideas n pond construction is a cherry on top of this cake. God bless u both with health happiness n loooooooooong life
In my opinion the best project I've ever seen on Grand Design: The Design, the Light, the space, everything is perfect. This awesome pool. Really great. But how could the house look so clean when you habe little kids? 😃 Some others wrote it here already. And I think the same: That's at least a home, where I want to live, too. Good luck to the owner family and to all of you watching Grand Design. I would like to watch the whole episode, but I can't. Greetings from Germany and please stay healthy
I have not seen another house as breath-taking as this one. The brightest house I have seen, so flooded with light. Glass windows and doors every where. A clean pool-pond, with water lilies. How they came up with this plan is beyond my imagination. A spectacular video. The couple must be having deep pockets, without which no one can accomplish this. Shows that good taste and money can go hand in hand in rare cases. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania

Could afford to build an amazing family home for his kids? Living somewhere a bit grim builds character, now they get to fully enjoy the new house having experienced how lot of less fortunate people are forced to live
This is the house i would want to live in if i were to win lotto. Its the type of design which lowers your heart rate by 20bpm 5 minutes after you arrive. Just magical
Such a hard yard to get a home erected that's thermally and passive leave Solar with the wood panels and read it in the recreational swamp that sort of filtrate selfish natural plants while living in an old damp needs demolishing
I like the house and see the connection between humans and nature. ANd it is definitely done with a great idea of symbiosis in head. But where is the sustainability in all of it? Is it the nature and the garden what they mean by sustainable home? Or the little recycling of materials? or did I miss some information in the documentary?
We are well into December now and we’ve only just turned on the heating on the Ground Floor only. The heat all comes from solar panels and a GSHP on site. All best, Dan
@@danielrowland6628 How 'smart-home' is it? In any case, it is magnificent. One thing I'd change is I would have showe/bidet toilets instead of normal and get one of those new tech lifts to really future proof it. Especially when elderly grandparents etc visit. I never get why so many expensive 2/3 floor homes in the UK have no lifts. New builds should all come prepared for solar panels/ smart home /lifts etc to future proof them.
A beautiful home. I would be a nervous wreck with children or the elderly near that lovely pond. Planners should be requiring, bigger plot sizes and house sizes. Too many plots have high density development, delivering huge profits for landowners and developers, it needs to end and restricting bank lending to construction costs only would be part of the solution.
Actually it’s very very warm.. into December and we’ve only just turned the heating on on the Ground Floor only.. 100% renewable energy heating mostly generated on site… also passive cooling strategies work brilliantly in the summer. 😀
lovely and innovative house. Really warm but why is size virtually the only definition of what is good. These houses waste so much space, empty and unused.
Stunning home - interiors are a little cheap looking though, sort of wannabe scandi - not quite big enough dimensions for some items to contest with the space

It's effectively an easement, basically the same as a historical right-of-way. You retain ownership over the land, but there is a public purpose to a part of it.

Amazing the imagination and tenacity of these two.

Absolutely stunning . The only thing that would worry me is the smell from the drainage pond .

They didn't need the pond on their site in the first place if they planned to build one. That's what's confusing.

Ah, this is the one on air BnB that costs a fortune to hire. What's the point of building such a place to then rent it out?
So confusing; local water drainage retention in here isn't municipal but free for people to appropriate land?.
