In this video we are testing out the "4 Inch Concrete Stone Ceramic Turbo Diamond Grinding Cup Wheel,12 Segs Heavy Duty Angle Grinder Wheels for Angle Grinder (Yellow)" from Amazon and grinding a drainage channel into concrete. This Grinder wheel is designed to cut concrete with a standard 4 inch or 4.5 inch angle grinder. The grinder I am using is a Porter Cable PC750AG 7.5 amp grinder. We are cutting concrete dry rather than wet cutting which creates a lot more dust and will require use of PPE like a 3M respirator. This is a relatively good way to fix a puddle in an old concrete driveway or shape concrete if necessary. - Наука
Thank You for the video. If you are using an angle grinder that does not have a side handle it is best to grip the top side of the grinder with your non dominant hand. In you case, you should place your left hand on top of the grinder behind the grinder's head rather than on the left hand side the way you are doing it. This allows you to provide greater stability and control of the tool making for a safer usage. It also provides an added layer of safety if you choose to use gloves while grinding because there is less chance of the grinder disc catching your gloved hand.
And as you are using a cup shaped grinding wheel, it is better to apply the grinding wheel at a shallow angle to maximise the life of the disc. Also, it is preferable to use a vacuum to suck up the dust. If you must use a fan, orient it with any wind to maximise the dispersion of the dust.
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
Brilliant disk eats concrete and great finishing iv used it on pools walls bad joints its one of the best gringing wheel .
Idea speed 3500 to 7000 rpm.
Requires dust mask ,protective shield & ear protector
Great tip! Just what I was looking for!
I’ve watched a lot of your winemaking vids and last year planted a 16 vine vineyard. After discovering this channel I’m blown away at all your skills and hobbies! I’m making maple syrup for the second time on a cinder block set up this year. Thanks for the great content!
Good work! Nice way to expose aggregate for its decorative appeal.
Thank you for giving us chance to watch your videos.very useful..hopefully someday i buy also a cement grinder here in philippines.
So I have a solid concrete porch slab. I need to get it down an inch or inch and a half to stay within code when I put trex down. What do you recommend
I have a not so large area that I want to grind to get water to drain. I wanted to see if an angle grinder can do it. Love the idea of the fan to blow away the dust. Thanks!
Liked your safety first initiative
thanks for demo
Thank you, I was about to go buy a concrete saw. When it rains heavy the new carport we had built guides the water right into the mf garage.
Hi - Came across this video after buying the same wheel and grinder. How did you attach that wheel without it spinning freely? The wheel I have doesn't have good contact with the wheel and locking nut. I noticed it's about half as thick as the wheel that came with the grinder, which I think is the issue. Did you have to add a washer or something else to get it to lock into place? Thanks
Have you tried turning the locking nut over? The locking nut on my angle grinder can be screwed on one side or the flip side. One side allows for a thicker disc or a slightly larger diameter hole.
@@nahladel that was it. I have a lot to learn about angle grinders.
Thanks
I need to slope the entrance to my garage... for some reason they made it flat ( or worse...) Thanks for the video~
Wish I saw this before I spent $80 today. Have to level the concrete to prep for a new toilet flange. I couldn't see chiseling it all out.
What’s the hardness of concrete? Can i use this grinder for agate and Quartz?
Yes....
Angle of the grinder was way too steep. Need to make contact with as much of that disc as possible. Otherwise you’ll just kill the outside edge
Looked fine to me. The surface he was grinding was at a steep angle so it makes sense.
Um dude, that's a cup stone grinding disc. It is used for concrete mate but more so for a flat application such as stripping glue off the surface or leveling the surface. You actually should have a proper floor shroud on the grinder attached to a h class vacuum.
With his PPE and setup it seems to have been functionally safe and worked well though, no?
I was hoping to see how much of the grinding wheel was used?
So long as you don't abuse them, they should last long enough to duplicate the video a couple of times. The longer they are used, the worse they are. Don't be too aggressive with your pressure.
You might be able to poor a new concrete slab over the existing surface.
Cement over cement
You should have shaved the edge of the concrete that was rising instead of making a concrete river😂
All masons laughin😂😂
Can this be used to remove oil paint concrete surface?? Thanks
No
@@nelsonfernandez7473 Why not?
Yes it would, but make sure you acid wash it after to clear out the pores.
Yes! Here's a guy cleaning a whole deck of oil paint with a grinder. ruclips.net/video/dah9VstYm5U/видео.html
All you really needed to do was to do the whole thing from start to the end with new concrete over the cement
Interesting wheel, but for 7 bucks and the same work you could just pour a bag of cement on the sinking paver.
work for youtube's sake!
Just shows how little you know about the topic
@@LogicalThinker. ok buddy
@@kkknotcool new cement won’t stick to the old walkway and will quickly chip and come off. You really don’t know much lol
@@DK-dm5bk Of course it's not gonna stick, that's why you pour a whole bag, it's not gonna chip if it's thick enough. 3/4 inch should be fine.
Better be careful with that one son going to get it in the face
I've had 3 harbor freight tools break during the first three uses. One came apart in my hand and the blade went flying. No warning signs. A $40-50 savings for a disc isn't worth the risk. I'm never buying that made in china no brand crap if it's anything that can hurt me when it fails.
Ive never had a 10$ grinder break. The discs however arent thr best, try diablo disca
Jack hammer that area out and poor new concrete that slopes away
FO with the lady stuff
I'm a serial fast forwarder ...but u saying this cuz he refers to his wife as my lady?
Lmffffffffaaa if so ....I 100 percent agree with you...
WHY TF ARE YOU WEARING GLOVES??? Do you want your hand ripped off by an angle grimder, cause thats how you get your hand ripped off
Using gloves for grinding is mandatory according to OSHA regulations.
@@eighthelement maybe with cutting disks, but with grinding discs its highly dangerous
@@mikevlek ??? How is it dangerous?
@@eighthelement gloves can get caught by turning wheels and rip you i to your piece/disc it can get you seriously hurt. Also a false sense of security is verry dangerous
@@mikevlek It is understood that gloves provide only minor protection from grinding injuries. That said, I spent several months grinding (mostly schools in summer), I cut myself slightly dozens of times but I never thought gloves created any danger. It seems they provide just a little bit of protection and that's it.
I do believe you should be using water with a wheel like this.
electrocution ??
@@mzafonte6840 Nope. Just did my sidewalk last fall. No electrocution.
