So if I'm just doing my home garage I just need to wet the floor first and then run the buffer like machine over it.How many passes does it take on a never sealed or coated floor? Thanks
Using a 220-480v electric or gas powered Edco, Husqvarna, etc machine you have more weight and faster head-speed which will reduce grinding time significantly. For most standard home garages you can rent a floor maintainer with a Diamabrush pad. With a Diamabrush pad it will take you roughly 30 minutes of cross hatching for every 100ft² to achieve the proper surface profile (5-10 slow passes).

2:22 what pad do you guys use to get that finish?
with a standard floor maintainer you can mount a Diamabrush 40-60 grit pad.
