How to Make Bath Powder: Bubble Bath & Body Wash In One!

- Today I'm showing you how to make dry body wash & you can also use it as bubble bath. I call it "Scrub & Bubbles" (like the cleaner) for short. This stuff is awesome, easy to make, & you're going to love it!
I'm making avocado-themed scrub & bubbles, but make any kind that you want! This is a "soft" recipe (you don’t have to follow it exactly). Feel free to change ingredients & adjust amounts. I encourage it!
RECIPE: 30 grams baking soda, 30 grams citric acid, 30 grams [any type] clay (kaolin), 10 grams avocado powder, 10 grams sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSa) [or sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, or sodium coco sulfate] + 7 milliliters fragrance oil, 10 milliliters alcohol [aids in a drier/rougher texture], & 20 milliliters liquid surfactant [to activate mix] (I used castile soap, but Cocamidopropyl Betaine is better; it's a foam booster & makes bubbles last longer). *** I didn’t add polysorbate 80, but you should add 2-4 milliliters if adding mica, especially dark mica powder. * Only add small amounts of Ingredients that have a tendency to stick together, like coconut milk powder. This is why I only added 10 grams of Avocado powder. * The baking soda/citric acid are crucial- they create a coarse texture. The slsa creates rich foam, thick later, & bubbles.
DIRECTIONS: Sieve dry ingredients together. Mix fragrance & alcohol and add it to dry ingredients. Mix well. Lay it flat & spread it out. Dry 1 hour. Pour mixture into bowl. Add 20 milliliters liquid surfactant to make powder react & puff up. This will create a hard/rough texture once it's dry (a great pouring consistency). Mix everything together well. Lay the mixture flat on paper & spread it out. *Speed up drying time by periodically breaking up chunks throughout the drying process*. Dry it completely (24 - 48 hours). Once it's completely dry, sieve it. For a smoother consistency, blend it - but not too much; allow some rough texture to remain so it pours easily. To make sparkling & colorful layers, take about 1/3 - 1/4 of the mix & divide it. Add color/mica to each. Each time you pour powder in, pack the jar (pack at an angle for diagonal layers).
This recipe fills a 4.5 ounce jar. It should last a while (a year or more).
What if mixture isn't drying? Give it sufficient time to dry (this may take 2-3 days). After, try the following remedies: Re-wet the mixture with alcohol & allow it to dry. Re-wet the mixture with a liquid surfactant & allow it to dry. Add more dry ingredients, like citric acid (it's the perfect pouring texture). If it's still not drying, you may want to throw it out & start over.

Super excited to try this - thank you for the tutorial! Should I use rubbing alcohol, or does it have to be a specific kind?
I have been watching your channel you make me feel confident to make whipped sugar scrub

@@CreativeBathLab i'm in finland, maybe youtube doesn't get the time difference :)
Love this❤
This is so magical to me. I love it. However, do I have to use castile soap or can I use regular soap, like my homemade soap
Hey, Dora! Thank you for all your videos and tutorials. I LOVE watching your stuff! So, question for you-you use castile soap in this. Can I use the liquid goat milk soap I have on hand rather than castile?
I don't see why not.
Thanks for the promo codes
Thank you
You're welcome
Another awesome video, Dora. Thanks! Quick question...does the avocado powder add a scent or is it for another purpose? I'm just trying to figure out if I can use that universally no matter what fragrance oil I pick or if I need to change that portion of the receipt based on the scent.
I have a similar question. Is the avocado powder necessary? What is the purpose?
Can you use witch hazel instead?
What if i add polysorbat 80 insted of castle soup
Q excelente ,muchas gente Dora 👌🏼
Gracias
Where do you sell your stuff? I don't see a website above. Thanks
I haven’t made color powder in a while (too lazy) could I just add the color to the alcohol/fragrance oil mix?
Do I need all the ingredients you listed?
What did you use in place of the avocado powder for the other scents (lavender, rose, etc)? I’m really excited to try this!! What a great product!!!
in place of avocado powder, i used rose powder, pumpkin powder, etc. For lavender, i just used lavender sent & added a few lavender buds on top
Thanks, Dora! I love watching you make all these beautiful and useful products! You are always an inspiration!! Thanks for all your help and creativity!
i love this, but would like to see if i can add some rich oils and still get it to dry? something that would also moisturize? wish me luck.
Great idea! Try it & let me know!
so beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Can you sub out the avocado powder for something else I really want to make this but I am allergic to avocado
Nice demo. How do you make your labels?
click the icon or go to end of video & itll pop up
Do you sell your beautiful products? I’m new to your channel, so you have probably answered this question. I was just wondering.
Could you make a foot soak and or a solid foot scrub ??
Um, of course! lol I have made several scrubs
💚💚💚
Hi Dora. Is there a way that this can be placed into a bottle and reconstituted to make a body wash for pump packs?
Same question here . In case it is mixed with water does it give a thick consistency?
😍😍😍😍
What type of alcohol did you use in this recipe?
How do you keep the scrub dry while using it in the shower? Or even in the tub, unless you have someone else helping you by staying outside the water and sprinkling your washcloth with it when you ask? Powdered bubble bath is fine -- that used to be the most common form it came in -- but powdered body scrub looks impractical. The closest commercial product I've seen to that is Boraxo powdered hand soap; for washing just your hands over the sink a sprinkling dispenser is adequate. And since you have both baking soda and citric acid in your mixture, getting it damp is going to cause a real problem!
Alternate suggestion: Instead of keeping the scrub as a powder, how about suspending the powder in a solid and somewhat water-resistant matrix such as wax?
What else can be used if one does not have avocado powder (or any of the other powders like pumpkin and rose)? Or can one just adjust the recepe by adding more baking powder?
You got it, just skip it or add more baking soda
what can you use instead of avocado powder
any powder
❤ your nails
Thanks! I did them myself actually!
I think you should write a book 🎉❤
Me, too!
So, i made this recipe and substituted coconut milk powder for the avocado powder.... Something want right lol, it looks like wet concrete. I'm sure i messed it up but i don't recommend coconut milk powder😮
where do you sell your stuff? I don't see a website. thanks
