Exactly! The big thing that irked me about the first live action movie was that they made G.I. Joe an international organization. Kind of defeats the REAL AMERICA HERO premise. You're correct. With so much lore to draw from why can't they just take one of the miniseries (mass device, weather dominator, or pyramid of darkness) get these actors and be true to the source material. That would truly be EPIC!

Yet even within DC, you have Joker and The Dark Knight trilogy that are far superior to the rest of DC Universe. In the right hands, G.I. Joe has the potential to be better than both DC and Marvel. Superheroes have too much power so everything is inconsequential. G.I. Joe could be more like classic 90s action movies or thrillers. And when they used gadgets and vehicle science fiction, it will be grounded in the reality of plausible current world physics like in James Bond and the original Star Wars movie (excluding the Force).
