    I was willing to hear them out after "2 kids living in orange county" but the minute they mentioned "we gutted our apartment in Tribeca" I went straight to comments. Truly rich people sh*t! Beautiful work nonetheless.

      Realistically speaking, unless you have a ton of money to fund your own business and a network of industry professionals working along side you, you'll need to get a design degree and work under others to get actual experience. Most states require you pass the NCIDQ exam to even label yourself as an interior designer anyways. (Coming from a senior in college studying interior design and also working at a large multidisciplinary firm) you need at minimum an associates degree in interior design (CIDA accredited is best). Interior *decorators* do not generally need formal education/licensing but their role is different from a designer.

    • @AgathusStudios
      @AgathusStudios  3 месяца назад

      This is a great question! Jerry and I are big on self-learning, so we did tons of reading, research, and consuming relevant content on platforms like RUclips. Most of our practical knowledge and expertise, however, stems from trial and error over years of designing and working on our own investment projects. I think this gives us a pretty unique perspective when working with clients since we have firsthand knowledge about the priorities and pain points of homeowners. And of course, we rely on and continue to learn from our network of experienced architects, contractors, and other designers. Fun fact -- California does not require an interior design license to be a professional interior designer (of course, there are other, more general, business licensing requirements).

Although posting about their life makes them vulnerable to such scrutiny, it doesn't mean you should, keyboard warriors. You'll never know the entire story of their "success", even if it seems obvious that they had the fortunate conditions to build what they have. They still work hard and are extremely productive, making and presenting beautiful art

    You guys have such great taste, and I'm inspired by your story (I'd like to start my own real estate company) but I'm curious about why this documentary is about your "bravery" when you two were clearly very privileged people who had a foundation to be able to pursuit a new career..... It's kind of arrogant to say that most people don't have an "aha moment" (3:41 lol what is this?) where they think about leaving their unfulfilling career, when the reality is that most don't have a $476k salary to support them. I assume you have spent most of your lives in elite institutions, and currently spend most of your time around very wealthy clients, which is why you have a skewed perspective as to your own privilege.
    You created a successful business. Why is that not enough? Why are you out here trying to prove how special you guys are? Why do successful people do this? Can you please just tell us more about your design philosophy, how you learned interior design, how you created your team? I would pay for a course about these things. And please be real about the insane amount of money and connections you need - don't be shy and don't lie about it! We're here because we want to learn, not worship at your alter.

    For me, there are two Cardinal Rules: 1) Every light on a dimmer switch. 2) No pot lights in the ceiling. An architect that uses pot lights is an architect that doesn't know how to control light... and then there is 3)...wishful thinking...No paint inside the house.

    Leaving 476k jobs is not brave or inspiring, when you have that much money. Inspiring is being a single mother and quitting your stable day job that pays the bills and xmas presents for your kids to follow your dream job as a freelancer. Or a crossing two oceans illegally to get to a country that doesn't want you just to get a job, any job. Check your privilige before coming to the internet promoting lifestyle nonsense in this cost of living crisis era.

      Disagree to the nth degree. You have not lived these people’s lives and you do not understand the complexity and risks these two have had to make. Do you know, whether they had hefty student loans? A life time of family and personal pressure to be high achieving? Discrimination at law firms because of their race? Difficulties to get into an ultra competitive and service oriented field? Managing the million details of hiring staff and making sure everyone’s pay checks are on time? Social media only show you the beautiful results but do not show you the struggle, fear, risks, conviction, struggle, failures, hard decisions someone have had to make to succeed in this story.

      @@joannabusinessaccount7293 No, I don't and neither do you. So everything you said has negative value because it's all speculation. If that was the truth, then maybe the videos should say something about it, and in that case I would definitely value their journey.

    • @joannabusinessaccount7293

      @@miguelrosado6348You are entitled to value or not value the value of this video, and RUclips should be a place where opinions can be expressed, and tolerated, agreed with or disagreed with. Why not try something you desperately want to do, that's almost too good to be true, that somehow doesn't seem 'fair' - and when you have succeeded, you can post it on RUclips. And I can forecast that no matter how successful you have overcome the challenges, and no matter how gruesome your challenges have been, there will always be someone who thinks 'you've had it easy,' and your journey may not be of value to them as much as to, someone who has had it worst than you. Say, a child born without legs and hands - you had a life of privilege. But like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinions on what is worth of their time and appreciation, and this is one of the best things about RUclips.
