Sorry for Floor fans but Tarja is the soul of this song.
I am a big fan of Floor and love her version of this song but I have to agree with you. This is Tarja at her best.

I only discovered Nightwish about 5 years ago and is was Floor singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013. Fell in love with them and just had to see and hear more. Love Floor's version of this song but I will have to say yes Tarja is the best version.

I strongly recommend watching the official video--there are 2, so watch the one with the medieval battle. It is STUNNING and makes the song even more powerful.
This is Floor's favourite NW song. That she saw and does see Tarja as a role model she has shared. So yes Floor Jansen fans its ok to love Tarja's singing too. If you want to or need to compare the only real question were they better off with Anette? Floor had to be there temporarily. But permanently ? Tarja was already 7 years gone and doing her own thing so not coming back clearly.
I am not going there though.
Tarja was there at the founding of the metal band NE exists because She said yes to the challenge of taking her Church singing abd Germsn Lied training and tutnijg it to Metal. Mind you there was no Symohonic Metal singing for Dummies to study. She had to create the genre as she went.
I can not fault Floor for being impressed and falling in love with how Tarja sang this song. We all stand on the shoulders of those who went before.
Those who rejected excuses and refused to quit trying until they succeded.
Now that dress is from the 2nd remade version from Once. As Tarja was not satisfied with how the original sounded .
There is a lesson. Never give up and never settle when you know you can do better.

Yes, one of the most beautiful rock songs ever, IMHO, and definitely one which Tarja (fully angelic in this version) does even better than Floor. No disrespect to Floor, there are other songs which she does best, especially GLS.
One can argue whose ear each soloist fits, but the facts cannot be denied. The band in question started to make a historic and great way with Tarja's power. There may and may be other soloists, but I'm sorry, there is only one that I listen to as the soloist of this band.
Close to original and the best live of this with emotional performance.
