Arba Minch got its name from the many springs in the area, which create a forest of groundwater. Arba Minch, which is situated at the foot of the western slope of the Great Rift Valley, is made up of the uptown administrative center of Shecha and the downtown business and residential districts of Sikela, which are connected by a paved road and are 4 kilometers away. The entrance to Nechisar National Park, which spans the isthmus between Lake Chamo to the south and Lake Abaya to the north, is located on the eastern side of Sikela. Uptown and downtown are connected by buses and taxis, and both areas feature educational institutions. The village is traversed by the Kulfo River, which empties into Lake Chamo.
