    Deep secrets, hidden pain, suffering, abusive relationships, and vulnerability. Fear of opening herself to another. She's letting others they are not alone. Women or men. ⚘️

      Yes, I didn’t mention it in the video as it was very slapdash but major props to her for being this vulnerable with the world! A very brave collection that I think will help many. As I mentioned in the video, I am by no means the target audience but connected with it and genuinely encourage all to have it as part of their poetic library.

      Hey, thanks! I used to do these regularly but I’m a bit rusty now so was worried it was unwatchable! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 🙏🖤

      Hi Brittnee! Thank you so much for being here. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. It was genuinely an enjoyable read and glimpse into Fox’s space, but also a conscious choice to make sure I was being fair and considered. I haven’t always been in passed review videos, such as Gabbie Hanna. I’ll be talking about the need for better criticisms in the community on my livestream this Saturday, if you’re around and want to join in the conversation! Hop to see you there!

    "I really need to get back to being able to form sentences" haha! Nice to have some new content in the old style! Also, I think TWs are important. Sorry to hear of your struggles, but the more we talk about these things the more we can normalise it! I have been through a similar journey.

    20:31 was thinking "this could have been a tweet" and not in the mira Gonzalez tao lin selected tweets way, but kanye manic episode way. Re: trigger warning I do prefer to be warned and do not find the effect is dulled by it. Makes me think of how true crime content is advertised and consumed. The trigger warnings serve as sneak peeks of the horror that is to come, whetting one's appetite - unless one is triggered. Well done on your sobriety! I'm cheering u on!

      Ah thank you! Waking up to this comment was the best! I think there is something to be said about being sucker punched right in the feels without the TW… at least for me. But I think it is important to have TWs. Speaking from experience now. As I said in the video, I don’t tend to get triggered but now I know there is a possibility so I know to tread with caution… and therefore think they are probably important. I really appreciate your time watching and leaving a comment, and for being so supportive.
      I have a livestream this Saturday where I am planning to bring up the TW discussion. If you feel up to discussing further, please do stop by! 🖤🙏🖤

      I want to re-release my book but with better editing. Do you know where a small time writer like me could get an actual review? I haven't had much luck with beta readers or online editors. They just tell me it's an awesome collection and make a few small grammatical suggestions. I'm looking for brutal honesty lol

    Love your review. You're clearly very kind and considerate. Personally, this feels like a celebrity vanity project, and it discusses concerning themes of abuse. It clearly acknowledges abuse, but she seems to glamorise, romanticise, and justify it, which makes me uncomfortable. I think it makes me feel uncomfortable as she is part of pop culture, and people look up to her and could think what she is saying is somewhat 'cool'. I think she is mentally unstable and needs therapy, and I think there are far better books and poems that discuss themes of abuse but work through it both creatively but with honesty and integrity. Maya Angelou being my number 1.

    Yes you need trigger warnings. With more time you could work at not giving spoilers. But with Megan Fox a goggle search and the title is a spoiler.

    Personally, I am not with all this trigger warning business. I think all these millenial wooley cocoons need to be opened a bit more and expose people to the real world. I can understand it with people of a nervous disposition or young children when there is something perhaps a documentery in which some of the footage might be a little too graphic for some, and there might be such a warning, but as for topics or contents which might be a little unsavoury for some in literature,, poetry, and such, it's just not practical.
    As the saying goes one man's meat is another man's poison. I am speaking personally of course, others may disagree, but where do we stop? As poets we are reflecting life, our emotions, our experiences. Human existence encompasses an enormous expanse of totally unexpected and sometimes unexplainable happenings,, feelings, emotions, and introductions to sometimes very unsavoury situations and people, and let's face it, isn't this sometimes a real struggle to put these into words without having to tread on eggshells all the time in case somethiing might be a trigger for some reader out there?
    Poetry is life, and life does not equip us with trigger warnings. We have to face life full on with whatever it chucks at us. Aside from that, I have used the most unexpected in some of my works to really hit home a point like this, which resonnates with people who can identify with a particular experience. I understand your point Adam regarding alcohol, I really do, but then one has to do what you did.. You dealt with it, determined to keep yourself together and carried on. I hope I am coming across clear here, as I say this is just my own view of all this 'cancel culture' 'rewording so as not to offend' etc. I think your poetry reviews and videos are very good indeed. You are fair and give much to be thought about which I like very much and shall continue watching you even if you are at a loss to express things at times, but then, hey, when in the flow sometimes don't we all?

      way to announce that you're an inconsiderate egoist. you could have just said that - didn't have to use so many words 🤭

    • @dianehewston9700
      @dianehewston9700 4 месяца назад +1

      @@conquistadorrocket No, you've got it wrong! The EGOIST's are obviously YOUR camp (excuse the pun) it is all about being self centered victims of nature, of society, of everything but themselves, and yes, as you have demonstrated, the whole struggle is about words, changing their meanings and refusing to address REAL FACTS.

    What about all these toilet paper that you use? How does it goes along with your inviromental principals? Also what about your heater ? It's clearly use lot of energy... also, I used way too much energy of my phone while waiting for you to finely start reviewing her poems

    • @AdamGaryPoetry
      @AdamGaryPoetry  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Dana, thanks for stopping by, leaving a comment and asking about my toilet paper. I try to use bamboo loo roll and kitchen roll as often as possible. Heating currently only gets turned on when it’s cold in the house. And I mean cold, not chilly. Although, I do find it odd bringing those two necessities to the table when we are talking about a book of poetry here. That would kind of be like debating whether to get a kitten or a crocodile as a pet… you know? Like, you know you want one, but one makes far more sense than the other.
      Sorry you had to wait so long for the poetry section. I like to make my videos about the book in its entirety, not just the poetry. In future I’ll try to make video chapters so you can skip all the thoughts about the book itself and get straight to the words.
      Cheers,
      Adam 🙏

    • @DanaJaneWriter
      @DanaJaneWriter 7 месяцев назад

      @AdamGaryPoetry Thank you for your elaborate answer. I try to explain my point. You're right - the heater and the toilet paper are very different things than a poetry book. Poetry book , regardless of how great or mediocre the poetry itself is, is a work of art. Conceptually - it's important whether it's one sentence on the page or the page is full of words. If it was creatively important for a poet to have one particular page with a very short poem , you, as a reader, should respect this creative choice. This little page in this little book wont destroy our planet. Also. If Megan Fox used way too much toilet paper or was just throwing it away and would leave the heater on when she is out of the house - than it wouldn't be very good thing for her to do. But the poetry book and how the words are situated on a page - that's frankly is her creative freedom. I hope you got my point. Have a nice day, Adam.
