There are like a dozen different types of apocalypses (Fire, Ice, Nuclear, Alien, Biblical, Zombie just to name a few) so just because you're prepared for 1 doesn't mean you're prepared for all of them.
Slamacat GT Yeah that’s absolutely ridiculous, it’s like believing in santa clause, which those dumbass believers make fun of but can’t realize their own hypocrisy.
Funny how these people are easily believed on zombie and alien Apocalypse but very cynical on bible scenario? Lol fyi, the worst is nuclear apocalypse.
My advice: gather other survivors, spend a year or so learning to drive and maintain a ship, get a ship, fill with supplies, sail to New Zealand. Things will be perfectly normal there because they will have closed their borders and locked down as soon as the virus appeared, rather than 6 weeks too late like the rest of the world.
The post apocalyptic era doesn't sound too bad. It actually sounds peaceful. I have some country land in Northern Louisiana that has a fresh water lake, great deer hunting, and fertile soil. In case things get too crazy, I plan on making my way to the country.
@new Leaf Yeah I know. My dad and my uncles have stocked up on rifles, gun , and ammunition. Hopefully we would be able to protect ourselves. Let the best man/ family win.
Dar Castro people are my biggest fear I was born and raised in the Mojave Desert between Vegas and LA I can survive in the desert but I’m going to have millions walking across my doorstep
If I survived, I guess it would be time to meet up with other survivors as soon as possible to build a new community in some remote place and make some babies. I’m gonna assume that the number of survivors is around 500,000-700,000 worldwide. So there’d probably be approximately 83,000-116,600 survivors on each continent.
As in almost all the survival pc games , you forgot during the night there is always attack from monsters, zombies or some other enemies . So building fences or defensive structures is very important
Wtf why does everyone think WWIII is gonna happen? It’s literally so stupid how people are honestly making memes and dumb jokes of it. The WWIII thing will probably just blow over in like a month or two and turn into a dead meme.
It's tough to survive in the USA. Tropical islands that are not major tourist attractions would be a go-to post-apocalyptic destination. Indonesia and the Philippines would be a good choice for their abundant biodiversity. Even southwestern China would be amazing in a post-apocalyptic world.
New Jersey? Nope. Too cold during winter. Go south. By the sea and next to a river. Gives you plenty of food. Not too hot during summer. Not too cold during winter. Also, corn is not a good idea. It requires too much water.
I Love Science Insider. Please considerate to put captions in Portuguese (Brazil). Several friends of mine always find very interesting the videos. All my friends say they're going to me when the end of the world comes. I've read so many survival books as a kid and love to go camping and such. I also study native Americans oral traditions and would love to live the way they did 100 or so years ago.
Thank you for telling everyone how many deer we have in New Jersey. I hope everyone now understands what kind of a *plague* they are, especially to gardens.
however, most nuclear reactors are PWR designs which means that should the coolant dry up, the mediator for the reaction goes away, hence the reaction ceases... It won't melt down as latent heat is slowly lost to the air around the reactor core along with other materials surrounding the reactor itself.
you actually want the food that will go off first. eat before it goes bad. and also what you described is actually during the apocalypse. and also you can survive without being lucky
You should NEVER drink from a bottle of water that has been sitting under direct sunlight for hours. And only some superglue that can be used to close wounds
I don't think reactors will blow up because they will shut down before they complete run out of energy. The idea of Chernobyl was if the remaining energy of the turbines delivers enough energy to shut it down iirc. So the much higher security standards of Western plants will prevent such melt down. "Nuclear power plants will be unlikely to go into a meltdown scenario in the event of operators' absence. After several days, most will shut themselves down if they have not received maintenance. However it is plausible that a lack of operators combined with some hitherto undiagnosed problem with the cooling cycle or systems could begin a series of events that lead to a meltdown.
First thing: try to locate and communicate with other human beings. Our species evolved as social and reliant on each other for help, cooperation and defense; and together humans have created culture, technology and society. Most of the advice given here is useless; most people have no idea about growing food, animal husbandry, connecting generators or setting a solar panels array; RUclips won't be available to watch tutorials, and the resource of libraries wasn't mentioned. Also, most libraries have no manuals of post-apocalyptic behavior. The only hope of lasting survival and recovery of civilization resides in sharing knowledge with each other and mutual cooperation. That's the fatal flaw of all the prepper idea. No matter how much you stock on food and weapons, that won't last for the rest of your life, and won't be an inheritance for your children.
There's a show on Amazon Prime - "the last man on Earth" it's kinda horrible though and they cancelled so left a cliff hanger at the end, very irritating. It's basically exactly this though, but the people who survived are idiots.

Can you do a realistic video on what a year around the world would look like around 2050, if you take into account all the research you know and all the estimated disasters that will happen? Because now, all channels only focus on 1 disaster or 1 consequence of climate change, but it would be nice to understand what a normal year in a person's life would look like when it comes to ALL of these pollutions and disasters. So how many floods per year, what is the effect of the flood on wildfire, how many wildfires, what if the wildfire is close to a fossil fuel place, what if the flooding is in combination with severe air pollution, ... Give me an overview here.
All of the food references don't take into account food going bad. You'd be lucky to last more than a few days off of one deer before it went bad. And that's assuming that you know how to preserve the food.
You could salt cure it. There would be plenty of time to read up on library books and things like salt would be in abundance because they'd be several supermarkets per person and salt doesn't go off.
Great video, but it doesn't instruct on how to deal with other hostile survivors. Or even how to deal with friendly ones! No mention of trade or barter systems? Still, pretty good information.
