Acrylic Pouring - New World - open cup technique

- I have a new favorite technique in acrylic pouring. The Open Cup technique! All you need is a lightweight mug. cut off the ground there.
At the beginning you prime the canvas with a base color, in this case it was white and then the opened cup is placed on the canvas. Now pour the individual colors into the cup from the top. I chose white, turquoise, green earth and dark ocher.
Try it!
Especially for beginners, the great technique can be used to create stunning pictures.

I think that what is so fascinating about the process, is the process. There are so many stages of beauty and intrigue, it is difficult to stop and say THAT!
the wait for the dry version is also very exciting. I always have to look in between.
Simply beautiful!!!! I’ve watched thousands of pouring videos & this has got to be one of my favorite finished paintings, if not my #1 favorite!!! I absolutely LOVED it when it looked like a dinosaur eye in the beginning, (you could’ve just left it like that, or stretched it by gently spinning it on a lazy suzan or swirling it) & I love the final product too!! It’s not often that you get 2 masterpieces from 1 piece!! Congrats!!

This is so gorgeous! I think you should try doing space themed colours, blacks, purples, pinks, blues, greens and yellows! I think you should do commissions because I’d love to have something like this hun up in my house
I will remember the color combination. It is not so easy with jobs, because you can not really control this kind of pictures. It's often a big coincidence.

Absolutely love this!! Just gave it a go, and it was a major fail. I used a (gesso'd) wooden panel instead of canvas, and it didn't seep out from under the cup. The end result had jagged/squiggly lines throughout the piece, like a hearbeat (if that makes sense) and not smooth flowing. I use my wood panels (Hobby Lobby) without an issue for resin pieces... maybe they don't work well with acrylic pours?
