In a 10 round fight draws are relatively common so it was easy for these 2 bought and paid for judges to manipulate their cards so Briggs didn't take a loss. Czyz was right in that it seemed like Botha's robbery was a foregone conclusion.
These two fighters are polar opposites in the ring. Botha has basic skill and was a bit sloppy but a ton of heart. Briggs was highly talented and greatly athletic, but he was more susceptible to folding under the pressure.
Very close fight, what a determination shown by Botha. Briggs landed the heavier punches, this is why I think the scorecards were so close. But Botha definitely did more in the rounds he won (especially the 7th and 10th). The two were very classy in the post-fight interview, especially Briggs who gave Botha the credit he deserved.
My 6th grade art teacher was an old white guy named Mr. Briggs. He had a poster of Botha/Briggs in the classroom lol
How Botha was not given the decision is a mystery. Despite the knockdown The White Buffalo should have been given the decision.
Rounds 8, 9, and 10 were pretty good IMO.
The White Buffalo against the Cannon!!!!!
And the Sniper was awesome from So Africa!!
What a robbery...amazing
Boxing yet again eating itself 🙄
