Sorry to say this, I'm extremely angry on people who wants to cut this scene... Clearly we can see, this scene is near the climax.. after he runs from Needamangalam... With heavy heart, he is leaving the village, and he sees a ruined temple. Even if there is no connection with that particular temple scene in the past, this scene could have elevated the emotions to another peak... Here I would say why, from my observation and emotional perspective. His heart wanted to go to the temple at first in Needamangalam, but he didn't go because he was drunk, not clean, with extreme guilt of not knowing the person who loved him with pure intentions but not knowing who he was.... He really wanted good for karthi, he gets down to pray for the well being of karthi. He gets down to visit how damaged maybe the temple is, there is still a hope that god lives there, they brought the statue outside, decorating it with flowers occasionally. He leaves his footwear to offer the prayer, respecting another one's belief, even though it was damaged, there is a hope of someone still resides and decorating the statue. In the close up shot, where he touches the goddess statue was phenomenal, In the previous scene he offered a fresh flower to the god in the well-built temple which is not a single percent less than, who kept the flower here in this scene. Belief is a Belief, in the previous scene, the florist women say, it is our god, cleanliness lies within our hearts. He touches the dried flowers and prays for them. A prayer is a prayer. Intention should be pure, it doesnt require a place, a name, a caste, a society.. if it is pure, true and within dharma, everything is Pleasant. 1.30 mins kooda porukka mudilana, I curse tamil audience, you will never get to witness something as pure as this cinema.
I dont understand. Why was this scene deleted. What an exquisite ruined old temple. Just watched Meiyazhagan last night, such a poignant, beautiful film. Surely deserves an award.

During that, karthi talks with birds, speaks about srilankan tamil killings, Thoothukudi Sterlite killings, and a history about a king who visited that specific temple
Reason for deleting this I feel is because of the "Aranilai thurai" , Their poor maintenance to many of the ancient temples and the ruling party is getting exposed in this scene.. They want every caste people to become archagar in major existing temples. Instead they can spend on such ancient beautiful temples and nominate any caste poojari and bring equality 😊
