Having a happy ending for Lily's Well is the most important narrative decision it makes. The audience is fully aware that in real life, there's usually no escaping from the situation that the game's horror represents. It would add nothing for the story to end with Lily hopelessly trapped. The ending plays with the fantasy we have of imagining what things would have been like if we could have saved ourselves, and as a result it engages with its themes so much more fully than it would have if it had just focused on hopelessness.
That is, if you were comparing it to anything real to begin with. Lilian taking a while because she's burning down the house felt like an untwist, though. Actually, I did process Lily as an "adopted child" several times. Still, this video is almost dedicated to the fact that they're different people. Yes, I was perturbed by you bring this up.
I love the idea of Lillian’s friends being supernatural beings which likely not only supported her through her own challenges, but now are there to help Lily make a life of her own despite her origins
It's nice to know that Lily is now in a pretty safe environment, although I thought it was really cool that the cast includes a lot of "demi-humans". Seeing this grown-up version of Lily really is cool. We only got a little preview on who Lillian is in the base game, I love her whole circle and how open she is to cuss a lot. Also her designs are actually so adorable, she has a great sense of fashion. And Lily too! She is just so cute, and I really hope she continues to have a semi-normal childhood without any more incidents. It's crazy to see her this happy after not even that long after the incident, but I'm glad she is somehow pulling through. I do wonder though, these unexplained powers of Lily... what will they be? Can she like do some voodoo homunculus type shit, that could be used as weapons? We saw what alchemy was able to do with some of the other Lily's back in Lily's Well, so is she able to maybe also transform into something to protect herself? Love all the references to the base game. That "frog phone or pipe phone" thingy made me remember how you got the frog outfit or... well, what happens after Lily enters the pipes. o.o Really well done video, I'd imagine it might have taken a lot of effort to really get it all together, especially that you work on so many projects at once, Ice! Thanks for giving us this great epilogue and I hope we can see more Lily's Well content in the future! Looking forward to the September update!
absolutely adorable. dialogue feels realistic, like what actual stupid 20-somethings would be saying to each other or how someone would actually comfort a little girl. lily's well is a very important game to me and getting to see her happy at the end ( + that paragraph at the end of the artbook ) have always made me weepy. getting to see her and li in a pretty low stakes scenario is everything i've ever wanted. i'll definitely be revisiting this next time i replay the game :)
My reaction on finding the Afterstory for the first time: "Oh hey cool an epilogue" *47 minutes long* "WHAT THE ACTUAL F-" Dude, seriously, my jaw dropped so far you could have fit a baseball in my mouth. Most indie RPG games' epilogue is a couple minutes and a few pictures. 5 minutes tops. But you literally went and made a full length animation with 100% believable dialogue that makes anybody with a heart want to reach through the screen and hug Lily's pain away. I hope you get discovered and go viral because this level of work from a small-time gamedev is almost unheard of.
It IS kinda funny, though I didn't laugh cause of the tears in her eyes taking away the humor at the time. I DID laugh though at her expression for the whole "I thought you fixed things not blew them up". Also neat fact, you can actually see lily down under the text at 27:35 when Lillian is mentioning dissecting a cadaver.

this is literally the cutest thing I have seen , I love these characters so much. Lily and Lillian's mutual healing through their finding each other and becoming a family with each other is just so sweet and wholesome, and I simply adore the themes of healing and found family in this amazing group of "monstrous" characters who are all just so fun and wonderful in their own way. Honestly I really want more of these characters and I want to see how these characters will continue to grow and heal and make new friendships and bonds. Lily's Well is one of my all time favorite horror games I've played, and seeing this and just how far these characters have come is just so sweet. I was both bawling and laughing hysterically the entire time I watched this. I will always love the message of this game and these characters. The emphasis on escaping from harmful relationships and building true families out of friends and loved ones who actually treat you well is just so well done, and seeing this concept developed further was just absolutely amazing. Honestly at this point I'm just talking myself into circles without actually saying anything new, so I just wanted to say that this story is one that I genuinely think helped the people who heard it, and seeing such a happy ending (or happy continuation is perhaps more accurate) is just heartwarming as well as hopeful and inspiring. Also I love that Lily is really into plumbing, just like how the narration in the main game seems to worship the toilet. Clearly she's had a hyperfixation on this for a while, and I am so here for her exploring her strange passions in a loving and safe environment

I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS, I LOVE HAPPY ENDINGS TO UNSPEAKABLE HORRORS 😭 It really gives me the same feeling as the Higurashi OVAs after the main series, especially with the sounds of cicadas in the beginning
I loved this afterstory and how it built off of some of the events of the game like the man on the couch and the frog costume you can get. It also built for a lot of world building potential with the introduction to mystical creature type people and the reasons why and how Lily's father could clone her. There was also some backstory hinting like her mother dying and the reasons as to why she is so good at being an alchemist. There was a lot of information we dont know about these characters but have a general basic understanding of them. I am just glad that we will probably see more great games coming from PureIceBlue

Lily's been through a lot and im glad that she's got another chance in life alongside friends that relate to her. She needs to be protected. Also, great job to everyone involved. wow this kind of long epilogue is som,ethign rare to see in a videogame, and is good to see lily get a new life and happyness after suffering and die a lot of times, so im glad for lily and her new life.

This setting and world gives me very strong World of Darkness vibes (ie Vampire the Masqurade, Werewolf the Apocolypse, Mage the Awakening to name a few) A world where every single supernatrual thing you can think of exists, where the rabbit hole of the strange and the unknown is nearly bottemless...that most people don't even know exists, and for the most part, everything we see is pretty much a world the same as ours. I love these kind of settings, and you play this one off perfectly, absolute kudos

Really awesome and wholesome video/game... Excited for the Lily's Well sequel when it eventually comes out. I'm not so sure that I'm as into the "mystical beings" like vampires and werewolves as I am the lore with the Italian alchemist father but the amount of depth and the levels of personality you put into the characters is engaging!
I cannot begin to say how wonderful and wholesome this was. This is exactly what I wanted for Lily after everything she went through: family and friends who will give her all the love and happiness she deserves. I would love to see more like this, honestly, but my gosh I bet a lot of work went into this. The sprites were all so good and I loved the facial expressions you gave everyone. Some of this probably comes from other works I haven't seen, but I'm assuming that Burgerman is a mermaid cause I think they said.. but what is Todd? Is he a ghost or a banshee or something? 👻(Oh, wait, just got to that part of the bonus book, my bad. You said to watch this first, haha...) Regardless, thank you so much for making this for Lily and Lillian. 💖

When I saw this my first thought was "oh! Hey! Someone made a fan animation for Lily's Well? I loved that game!" Then I saw that you made it and I was shocked. This was amazing! It made me so happy! This is exactly the type of content one for something as dark as the original
fucking christ, man, i was crying happy tears nonstop and i wasn't even halfway! i loved every single character here, no matter how little we saw of them. they're all absolute sweethearts and i can't wait until lily makes tons of friends at school!
I really like this world and characters and lore. It would be so cool to get another story within the same universe, honestly it has a lot of potential. Great stuff iceblue.

I recently streamed and beat Lily's Well for the first time just yesterday, and I'm really happy that I was told about this after story, because i absolutely loved the game, I was not expecting such a great little game to be free! It's so nice to see Lily living a nice (semi) normal life after the trauma that was all the events of the game, and all the new characters introduced are really fun too, i've known them all for less than an hour but I am already invested in this group and would love to see more of them!
i've been procrastinating on watching this since it came out, but i'm so glad i finally got around to it. lily's well easily became one of my favorite games after i played it, in part because of how touching the ending was, and getting to see how the relationship between the lilies developed past that was such a treat. not to mention all these new characters are super fun, and it's just great to see lily be able to integrate into a community with people who actually care about her. a super charming watch overall, and i'm very excited to play the new update :)

Ok, but when I saw the werewolf I was joking in my head "ha that must be her boyfriend"....I am pleased that it was indeed the case. This whole thing was so sweet and cute, I loved it.
This was awesome! I absolutely adored it. Just a question, but did anyone else notice the letters and symbols that would occasionally pop up throughout the video? I found all of these throughout the video. At 9:12 there's a j, 12:12 there's an i, at 16:03 there's a p, at 20:43 there's a J, at 26:56 there's a -, at 34:17 there's a k, at 36:18 there's a y, and at 37:40 there's an S (can't tell if it's capitalized or not). I suspect I missed something, because combining what I've found does not bring up a valid RUclips link. I think there's about one symbol per scene, and I have yet to find anything during the intro in the woods and car. A symbol probably pops up ever 3-6 minutes, so that means there's probably something hidden sometime between 26:56 and 34:17. Edit: @kidzanik4759 found an = at) 0:33, a G at 10:07, and an h at 11:50.

I love horror games but I can't play them. I have to watch other people play them so that I can turn the game's active entertainment into passive entertainment. Also, when I am able to buy the game for myself I'll still be able to enjoy the horror aspect without the unintended side effect of being too scared to play it. One final thing, Alt Ending Three is my favorite because it scared me the most. It's the only jumpscare I saw, it scared me so much that my phone dropped through the space in between my bed and the wall. I had to fish it back out with the video still playing😂 P.S. What you do is amazing, I love Lily's Well and I look forward to playing it someday.

I didn't play the game, just watched Manly, but oh man I thought this was just a random game of horror and that would be it, boy was I wrong, incredible story, interesting gameplay loop, insane attention to details and easter eggs, I loved it, I shouldn't compare games but tbh it made me think of Undertale when it was first released, great job and loved the story and happy ending!

I'm glad Lily is happy after the hell she went through, but I'm not sure how to feel about the expanded world. I felt like part of what made this world interesting was how both Lilys were relatively normal compared to where she was apparently stuck in. The only hints that the rest of the world was supernatural were from the GID folder bringing up merfolk flesh and Jeremy's "rip you limb from limb" threat, which were easy to gloss over. I don't know. To each their own, but this expanded world kinda felt out of the left field for me.
The inflatable plastic chair gift made me unreasonably happy.
Lily is coping extremely well for a child who died several times. Knowing you died and got brought back once is usually traumatic enough for most.

His gun's accounted for in the game proper, so it being in the safe would probably affect floor 10.

I'm not so sure that I'm as into the "mystical beings" like vampires and werewolves as I am the lore with the Italian alchemist father but the amount of depth and the levels of personality you put into the characters is engaging!
I cannot begin to say how wonderful and wholesome this was. This is exactly what I wanted for Lily after everything she went through: family and friends who will give her all the love and happiness she deserves. I would love to see more like this, honestly, but my gosh I bet a lot of work went into this. The sprites were all so good and I loved the facial expressions you gave everyone.
Some of this probably comes from other works I haven't seen, but I'm assuming that Burgerman is a mermaid cause I think they said.. but what is Todd? Is he a ghost or a banshee or something? 👻(Oh, wait, just got to that part of the bonus book, my bad. You said to watch this first, haha...)
Regardless, thank you so much for making this for Lily and Lillian. 💖

When I saw this my first thought was "oh! Hey! Someone made a fan animation for Lily's Well? I loved that game!" Then I saw that you made it and I was shocked. This was amazing! It made me so happy! This is exactly the type of content one for something as dark as the original

I recently streamed and beat Lily's Well for the first time just yesterday, and I'm really happy that I was told about this after story, because i absolutely loved the game, I was not expecting such a great little game to be free! It's so nice to see Lily living a nice (semi) normal life after the trauma that was all the events of the game, and all the new characters introduced are really fun too, i've known them all for less than an hour but I am already invested in this group and would love to see more of them!
So Lillian is dating a werewolf? Huh. Neat.
i've been procrastinating on watching this since it came out, but i'm so glad i finally got around to it. lily's well easily became one of my favorite games after i played it, in part because of how touching the ending was, and getting to see how the relationship between the lilies developed past that was such a treat. not to mention all these new characters are super fun, and it's just great to see lily be able to integrate into a community with people who actually care about her. a super charming watch overall, and i'm very excited to play the new update :)

Just a question, but did anyone else notice the letters and symbols that would occasionally pop up throughout the video?
I found all of these throughout the video. At 9:12 there's a j, 12:12 there's an i, at 16:03 there's a p, at 20:43 there's a J, at 26:56 there's a -, at 34:17 there's a k, at 36:18 there's a y, and at 37:40 there's an S (can't tell if it's capitalized or not).
I suspect I missed something, because combining what I've found does not bring up a valid RUclips link. I think there's about one symbol per scene, and I have yet to find anything during the intro in the woods and car. A symbol probably pops up ever 3-6 minutes, so that means there's probably something hidden sometime between 26:56 and 34:17.

저는 제레미를 보면 런던의 늑대인간이 생각나요. 그 영화를 나는 릴리 나이대 전후에 비디오로 운좋게 한번 봤어요. 더빙은 아주 긴 시간이구요. 당시 한국은 심의가 아주 정신이 나가서 릴리 나이대의 애들이 그런거 잘도 보고 살았던 광기의 시대였어요. 물론 검열이 없는건 아니었고.
I love horror games but I can't play them. I have to watch other people play them so that I can turn the game's active entertainment into passive entertainment. Also, when I am able to buy the game for myself I'll still be able to enjoy the horror aspect without the unintended side effect of being too scared to play it.
One final thing, Alt Ending Three is my favorite because it scared me the most. It's the only jumpscare I saw, it scared me so much that my phone dropped through the space in between my bed and the wall. I had to fish it back out with the video still playing😂

I didn't play the game, just watched Manly, but oh man I thought this was just a random game of horror and that would be it, boy was I wrong, incredible story, interesting gameplay loop, insane attention to details and easter eggs, I loved it, I shouldn't compare games but tbh it made me think of Undertale when it was first released, great job and loved the story and happy ending!

I'm glad Lily is happy after the hell she went through, but I'm not sure how to feel about the expanded world. I felt like part of what made this world interesting was how both Lilys were relatively normal compared to where she was apparently stuck in. The only hints that the rest of the world was supernatural were from the GID folder bringing up merfolk flesh and Jeremy's "rip you limb from limb" threat, which were easy to gloss over.
I don't know. To each their own, but this expanded world kinda felt out of the left field for me.
