I am 62 and beginning to take flute lessons, and the reason is that I grew up absolutely blown away by Ian Anderson's style of playing flute, and I will be doing my best to learn how to play that way. I love this band and will be listening to their music for the rest of my life. 💜
Ian Anderson, is a unique talent indeed. His breathing technique is on point, because to sing and hit the flute like that is incredible. I feel bad for what I'm about to say, but even though I can appreciate their trying to switch things up a bit I just cannot dig that different version with the stretched vocals...it makes me anxious for him to do that for some reason. Also Hymn 43 was such a hard & heavy song it clicked into place on album between more complex work with layers , vox and flute work and then Hymn 43 comes in, kicks you in the gut with a hard, driving, dark & heavy cadence and riff.
Interesting arrangement but the original is still my favorite. This sounds like a good song and the original sounded like it was sent by G*d for Ian Anderson. Just IMHO
Please Ian , give up the singing mate . Your voice is tucked . Carry on writing arranging but let Jethro Tull be an enduring memory , not the mockery you are making it now. This from a life long fan . Tull ended when Martin Barre called it a day from your arrogance.
This was recorded 15 years, you write as though he just recorded it! As his voice is weakening, he is not doing himself any favours by choosing a cheap old microphone! Any stage vocalist needs the best mic they can get, and the common-garden SM58 isn't the best! In Ian's case, his voice cords have aged and sound rough. Also his mid-range is laid back- the worst you can do to a vocalist! That why he sounds so 'hollow' and weak! I suggest he tries a variety of stage microphones in a large music shop and find one that produces his voice the best. Of the page, I would recommend one of the Neumann KMS series.
¡Qué creatividad! Ian Anderson tiene una gran capacidad para rehacer sus clásicos de forma fresca y renovada.

Thanks for the he confirmation that I should never see Jethro Tull live.

IMO, Ian Anderson blows most Classical Flute players away.

Would be even more controversial in today’s world….. 🤔 how ironic of all days… he was crucified to Save for all !!
Pans flute mocks the demic the band is paid and the crowd is dead.
Let's go Brandon
Seriously shut up!!!
Not as good as the studio version

That is one minuscule opinion Ian. Rock on and thank you. Since 2011 your recordings and shows have been treasured by millions!
