Edit: make sure you block scripts again after you finish. Hi guys, little guide for understanding benchmarks: From 1ms to 0.5 (OG TIMER RES VIDEO) there is an average 1.42% average fps increase. and from 0.5 to my best value 0.506 (THIS VIDEO) it was another average 1.34 increase. So don't expect a million extra fps from timer res please :)
I actually did get two with the same delta and standard deviation lol. I have run through basically every guide of yours (and then some) to reduce system latency, so it doesn't surprise me. Keep up the good work Khorvie! I always look forward to your videos.
Most people aren’t on super old versions so I just said it didn’t work on 10, but I have a method coming soon that works for 10 then I’m never talking about timer res again lmao
You should make a Video testing Resizable Bar Bios/Nvidia and see if it helps or affects performance, Keep up the great work! the best at it since everyone talks about settings but no one takes the time to actually test them like you do.

For those who use custom os's some of them a preset timerres.exe file in the windows folder that you will have to delete before applying your custom res
korvie there is no need for all that to adjust timer resolution you can always adjust it from group policy editor its easy computer configuration-windows components- administrative templates network -qos packet scheduler just double click on set timer resolution policy and enable it and adjust it to 1 then close everything and run cmd as administrator and type gpupdate then press enter then just restart the pc and here you have it easy and quick and safer way because i think lower than 1 like 0.500 is killing the cpu and harm it
For me on windows 11, I had to run the following three commands to get timing resolution running properly: bcdedit /set useplatformtick yes bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock After a restart, I used the method shown in the video to get the most optimal timer value.
this helped me as well, once I put in those first 2 lines via admin cmd and rebooted, the sleep timings were no longer stuck at 15ms. for me 0.508 worked best. thanks a lot!
Wow, just impressive! I have a massive improvement doing this trick alone. Noted that I had set the timer resolution to 500ms since way back before you create the video last month. In fact, I had set my pc to this timer resolution since I first setup my current pc on December 2022 with all current hardware. Then, you just tell us to create an even tighter timing? Of course, I have to try it. Thus, I tried and the results shows as soon as possible. Even on general usage of pc, I could tell the improvement. I'm not even in game yet. The snappy response is real man.
Yo Khorvie, appreciate all of the content and I've been frequenting your channel since the internet optimizer from 7 months ago. I love the knowledge and discussion you provide, rather than just throwing out scripts and telling people exactly what to do. My best timer is .534 with a .065 Delta; .0015 STDEV. Doesn't that seem like quite a high delta and timer to be using?
So which one would you recommend? the third one has best lows but the timer is 0.526, would 0.508 be better then? i have no clue 😅 0.506, 0.015, 0.0068 0.508, 0.017, 0.0055 0.526, 0.05, 0.0008 0.53, 0.06, 0.0010
Love your vids! Thank you so much for this, but I have one small issue. Many games tend to set the timer themselves, and if they use the 0.500ms timer it will override whatever value you set, because it's lower. The custom timer works wonders in the games that it actually works in, but almost all the games I actually play seem to set it to 0.500ms. If you manage timo find a workaround for this, I will be forever grateful.
everytime i try to change my resolution value either it be 5010,5080,5010 etc the slept/delta value wont change (in cmd the first line of the resolution is the lowest slept/delta value but after the 2nd line of the resolution in cmd it defaults back to it like 6/7ms of slept/delta value so no matter what value i change the resolution the slept/delta value wont take effect and it just stays at 6/7ms how do i fix this?
For me its not working. Im still at 0.5000ms instead of the lowest for me 0.5560ms. I repeated the Powershell command without results. Seems like its still locked to 500ms. Please help :/
unfortunately I have the PRoblem as soon as I am ingame and run MeasureSleep.exe on the side, a normal timer of 0.5000 is displayed again... in decstop mode then 5060 as set. what am I doing wrong?
i done this on a fresh windows install, but all delta's were like 14.5000? resolution was 0.5020ms but for all the results the delta's were really high?
Use the command used to allow scripts and just type the answer to block them. If you put timer res in the startup folder it should open every time automatically
So, this is what I was talking about on the discord some days ago. Amit´s Timer Resolution seems to work as intended when at least the first Intel C state (C0) is enabled. While disabled, although you seem to get better frames and reduced input lag (subjectively), the deviation on the MeasureSleep program its soooo inconsistent. Could you test both cases for the best scenario?
Amit’s 0.507 working like a charm for AMD. Keeps my deviation inside the .008-0.01 range. Default .5 giving me a deviation between .5-2ms Tsc+tsc no desync Bcdedits: /deletevalue useplatformclock /deletevalue useplatformtick
Thanks for this. I set mine to .5080 ms. Works fine but everytime i play apex legends it overides the timer resolution to .5000ms and reverts back to previously set when apex legends is closed.
Valleyofdoom (amit) says you should only do the system wide timer res for debugging purposes, and that you should use a scheduled task instead. Is there any risk in setting the timer res system wide?
Just wanted to give a huge shoutout that this does indeed work if you have "timer related issues". Settled on the same 0.506ms value, but my results oscillated back and forth from 14.2-~14.8ms over a 20ms interval.
