Your boxes are very nicely made. I'm thinking about purchasing it and I have a question: if I wanted to use a maximum of one colony of adult insects, how many floors would I have to build and how big would the flock have to be to use the full laying cycle as in a flock, on this area of the box? ;)? I hope you understand what I mean ;)
Thanks for your feedback. With one colony in your Farm Top-Tray, you can use up to 4 additional trays with up to 1kg worms in each tray. The substrate height should be around 3cm in height.

What is the size of the net mesh that you used to separate the eggs from the mealworms? I am making one, but the net that I have is 1/20th of an inch, so I am worried that it is too small for the eggs and the baby mealworms to go through. So please let me know what sizes mesh I should use. Thank you. Please reply.

Do they smell?
Hi! It depends. I block the time of one hour for every two weeks. If you keep the substrate dry, they do not smell!
Hey, one last question, what mesh size did you use for separating the big mealworms from the frass, eggs and smaller mealworms?
0,5mm

If u want to keep it outside is there a certain temp it needs to be at
the optimal temperature is room temperature. but the most important thing is: keep it frost-protected, roofed and not sun-exposed!

what media to use for beetles and what to feed and drink for beetles and caterpillars
you can use oats or breadcrumbs. mealworms and beetles get there water out of vegetables and fruits.
I guess I will stick to lentils, seeds and beans for protein😅
Try Black soldier fly
Yeh me too
In your experience, what are the foods that bring the best results, such as bigger and fatter worms?
Wheaten bran as base substrate and some „wet food“ like carotts & potatoes. That‘s a good mix!
Do the beetles fly?
Basically they can, but they do not.
What about water requirement for larvae? dont they need any water source?
The worms and beetles get their water out of the fruit & vegetable scraps you feed them!
