Pancharimelam, muthukkuda etc are primarily hindu customs. I can understand they are followed in Kerala, because we are basically converted christians and finding it difficult to leave old customs. Atleast when going to churches outside kerala, I used to feel more christian, and more peaceful , and more spirtual while being in church with no such adulteration. It is sad that now in Europe too this culture is brought in . Many of you may not like this comment. But I just wrote what I am feeling while going to all churches in Kerala & Kerala specifc syro malabar/ malakara churhces in outside Kerala. Really feeling sad that christianity has to be so much adultered & all fathers , bishops everyone supports that too. Are we worshipping Lord Jesus christ or our old hindu culture?

Which is in Europe asia border. The second Christian country in the world is Ethiopia. An African country. This was also an Oriental Orthadox country. If you look at the culture of both these countries they are very different from that of European culture. All the Christian, s in kerala followed chaledran Christianity under Church of the east centered in iraq until 15 th century. Now also syro malabar church is following the east Syriac liturgy. When you keep nilavilakku , chenda etc above christ surely it is a problem. As you told even in west Pagan culture got mixed with local christianity. When christianity evolved in early centuries, even Europe had different rites like syro malabar, malankara etc. Just like St. Thomas evengelised kerala, different apostles or others evangelized different parts of Europe. So every group obviously had different ways life. Everyone had different pagan cultures seperate to their specific region / community. But they evolved or matured to come together under one umbrella and single rite such that now you are saying it as European culture. It is not . They did not completely eliminated them, But surely eliminated most of the pagan rituals. That's exactly why when you go to a European church , listening to gregorian chant in their magnificient cathedrals, we feel more spirituals & aligned to God. Whereas going to a festival like one shown is video, we only get a party feeling. It feels more like showing off the community's power. Not like a worship. As we all agree, it is surely not worship.
Respect the country you are living now, don't show your faith and politics in this way. Within a no time, when you're children are grown up they will be following the system of this country.
