Yeah I started reading the manga (but kept watching the anime, too) back when Fishman Island was airing and I'm glad I did. First few post-timeskip arcs in the anime (not in the manga imo, they're mostly fine there) are downright bad, and Dressrosa (Doflamingo) in particular is one of the worst-paced arcs in the adaptation. I think it's also the first one that has more episodes than chapters, so you get less than 1 chapter's worth of story content per episode in an arc that was already a little slow and stretched-out even in the manga. That trend continues to this day and only gets worse with each new arc. People love to sing Wano's praises because it looks great (and yeah it does) but it still has unbearably slow pacing and everything still takes forever to get to the point. The only reason I can tolerate it is because I already read the manga so I don't need to think "oh come on get to the next part already, why are we still here?" every single episode. I loved watching One Piece and catching up with the story years ago, but I honestly don't know if I could do the same today. With Dressrosa, I'm really, really glad I followed it in the manga and not by watching the anime weekly. You wanna watch Rebecca's flashback for the 37th time? Of course you do! Also yeah, all the "peak fiction" stuff weirds me out too. I don't even know where it came from, people just suddenly started spamming this everywhere around the time Wano started. I don't think I ever saw a single person acting like this 10 years ago when Dressrosa was going on.
THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT! I thought I was the only one and thought I’d get a lot of hate on this video but it’s good to see there are other people who can tell this show is overhyped.
except of the newer art style and better animation for Wano and Wgghead arcs it's better to read it till then cauz then u can set your own pacing and the manga depicts the fights better.
Yeah fish man island through dressrosa is so bad in the anime. Definitely recommend reading it from whole cake onwards. There’s even a colored manga up to a certain point in Wano if you wanna look into that.

I think what you Anime lovers don't get about One Piece is that it is a MANGA, The Manga is the GOAT. ANY OTHER ADAPTION of it is just that a fun adaption to watch. I couldn't imagine watching the anime if I wasn't excited to see the manga turned into a video.
I love one piece, but I understand your issues with the pacing. I’d recommend watching one pace. It stays more true to the manga and cuts a lot of the bad pacing out. Also if I were you I’d just drop the show if one pace doesn’t make it better. It’s just not your thing at that point lol. Some like, some don’t. No big deal. Finishing a show you don’t want to finish just to make a review is only going to make you dislike it even more.
I feel you brother anyone acting like they didnt forced themself to watch through a couple episodes is lying I personally dont like the artstyle and pacing too but pushed through it because I invested time and eventually grew on me most of what I like is just lore hype and some characters but its aight.
When I got into One Piece I went straight to the manga. I knew the anime had terrible pacing beforehand. For the life of me I don't understand why fans tell people to watch the anime. Please give the manga a try. If that's not good then maybe the series isn't worth it
What's crazy is Netflix has One Piece for all pre time skip episodes. When I got to chrunchyroll and FIshman Island, I got so tired of hearing the named Hordy Jones! He was the most overhyped villian by FAR. Like, I started to show some respect for Mr. 3 during Impel Down, but I hated him as a villain. He felt corny and I thought the show was dragging back then. Hordy Jones was brutal for me. I had to take a break. Not to mention.... IF YOU ARE BLACK.... Watching that arc feels that much more worse. Like Seeing blaxploitation and what its good for, I can not help but feeling Hordy isn't an OP Dope Fiend. When I seen him locked in the cell looking old af, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was convinced with the slavery, and the racism towards the fish men that it felt black, but making him old from the steroids was pushing it. So I feel you. I had to take a 2 week break, and since then I struggle to watch 2-3 episodes a day when there was a time I could do 5-10 a day. I'm looking forward to Wano myself, but not even because I believe it is peak fiction. I am looking forward to watching more content getting other people's thoughts on theories and watching debates because I know the lore. In no way possible do I see the pacing getting better considering Mr. 5, Mr. 3, Crocodile, and Enel had horrible pacing pre time skip. Hordy was just the icing on the "whole cake" for me.
😂😂 yea but I think oda was trying to preach a good message during that fish man arc. I don’t believe he was trying to come off as racist but more like this is like things that have happened in real life
The thing about this arc is it’s really the only arc where I forget the name of Hordy Jones goons so damn easily. But I also think it sells oddly well the fact that they are only shells of human being possessed by intense rage and hatred. But I still can’t remember their names for very long which is impressive.

Why do I have to wait that long is kinda showing, you are missing the point. If you don't want to watch a weekly release which is depended on the progress of the manga so will contain filler, read the manga. But yeah One Piece is a journey, waiting is part of that. Not defending the Dressrosa arc in the slightest, but maybe it's just you overdid it with watching too much at the same time.
dressrosa almost made me quit the show i understand your pain but dont drop the show it gets better and there will be a time you would be glad that you didnt quit
one piece is like harry potter, it's not perfect, but story is well thought out. harry potter has lots of problem, but people love it. it's similar to that. take it easy and enjoy it at your own pace. if u r not enjoying it, no need to force yourself. not everyone has to like a particular thing. I would recommend trying manga. but don't think of it as a task you need to complete.
One piece makes part of my life for more than 15 years, i quit the anime dressrosa because of the pacing and the animation. It is really bad, i was wondering how there is anime only wachters. Since then i just reading the manga and watch the anime when i want to watch some fights/moments animated.
Can enjoy anime because it has animations (sometime good), good OSTs and good voice actors, and sometime bonus fun and almost clever additions. All it takes for me.
Dressrosa almost broke me in the anime too. Wano is just as bad if not worse. It's not the source material's fault. Toei should have made things seasonal. You could release everything thus far in only about 500 episodes if they released 25 episodes every year or two. Looking forward to The One Piece cause they could honestly do it all in 250 episodes.
I watch one piece all the time, I really don't mind the pacing. In my opinion it isn't that bad, I understand why people wouldn't want to watch 1000 episodes. But if you really think about it. 1000 isn't that much. It's 3 episodes a day for a year. Just instead of going on your phone watch a few episodes every day
Bro I watch the anime to see the good fights on the manga. Just read the manga totally different pacing . Anime pacing is trash bunch of running around of fodder for like 5 episodes . I totally get you. Just read the manga
I got to 900 something when the show was only at 950-ish and dropped it in 2021 (I got that caught up in about 2 months). I watched Dressrossa on 2x speed. And by now, I have caught up. I switched to the manga during Wano and retroactively watch the anime every handful of months. Also, people need to shut up about the egghead arc! ITS A WEEKLY ANIME AND WE’RE ALMOST CAUGHT UP TO THE MANGA! It’s going to end up another Dressrossa and Wano w/ bad pacing. The anime does add some details which I enjoy, but honestly they just need to either go back and animate the cover stories as “filler” (which they should’ve been doing this whole time) or do another good filler arc like the G-8 arc instead of making the show unwatchable.
@@kinggeno1 yup! Hence why I drop it until there’s like 20-40 episodes I haven’t seen and binge. I do regularly keep up with the manga every week though cus the story is still good
This makes no sense. If you can't handle the bad pacing why not swap to the manga? Why force yourself to the point where you need a 2 month break instead of reading 5 chapters to see if it's better 😂 And another thing. You keep putting down the show saying it's not that good, it's bad etc etc. but you literally never say why. The whole video, the only thing you do is complain about the pacing. How am I supposed to take you seriously? What about the characters? The arcs? The narrative? Like the racism aspects of fishman island and the generational hatred? The beautiful moment where Nami forgave Jimbe? The reveal of the ancient weapon and Joyboy? Literally anything else? Are you interested just in the fights? From the way you were saying that you just want the series to end, just be over with it, it sounds like you just hate the story. Do I know why? Nope. Do I know this is actually the case? Not rly, cuz again, you haven't talked about it. You are right, you definitely will get a lot of hate for this video but it's not for "speaking the truth". It's cuz you just complain about the one thing that can be fixed by swapping to the manga.
I’m saving the complaints for the review, I’m going to go in depth on all of those things just like I did for my review of the first 500 episodes. I think you should check that one out on my channel so you can see what I mean
@@kinggeno1 Yup. There's a new anime adaptation coming out sometime this year that pretty much fixes your concern about the dragging. It's a different animation studio running it, so instead of 1000+ episodes it'll be like 200. It'll hopefully be the "definitive" One Piece anime.
Nowhere was it ever stated “The One Piece” was coming out this year, it is a project carried by WIT Studio which made Spy x Family and AoT season 1 for some of the most notable ones. I don’t honestly believe it would be just 200 episodes to cramp up all that’s been made so far in 1000+ episodes unless they even cut stuff from the manga itself. If they seriously wanna shorten stuff, they can do AT MOST 4 chapters per episode which is very compacted, especially seeing as Oda nowadays is trying to put as much info as possible in his chapters. Good episodes could be made in the range of 2.5 to 3 chapters per episode. I’ve seen some people take a guess at just short of 400 episodes for all that’s been made so far and it seems more reasonable for the story it covers. 200 would be going just way wayyy too fast through everything.
@@vermelliwoolf8889 It wasn’t stated anywhere, but it’s a celebration of the 25th anniversary of One Piece. Which is this year. A fair, and likely fairly accurate guess. But yeah, the 200 episode thing was just some twitter user’s guess i suppose. Regardless, the filler should be majorly fixed w it.
Nah I wouldn’t say I want fast paced bc I’ve watched a ton of different anime’s. Slice of life and just regular anime’s. I just hope it starts getting good again like it was before the time skip

Good to know
Yeah fish man island through dressrosa is so bad in the anime. Definitely recommend reading it from whole cake onwards. There’s even a colored manga up to a certain point in Wano if you wanna look into that.
Yea everyone is saying to read it but I might still power through
@@kinggeno1 honestly, i don't like post time skip arcs that much. Only the current arc is good like pre time skip. best arc after time skip.
Rather wait for the remake, probably in 2025. Personally, I say if you find it boring at Baratie and beyond, it might not be for you.
Still gonna finish it to make a review
@@kinggeno1 If you could possibly do one right after wano.
Just noticed your pre time skip review, about to go watch!
LAST YEAR IT TOOK ME A WHOLE 2 MONTHS FROM NOVEMBER TO DECEMBER OF 2023 buttttt I did have no sleep every day so uhh thats probably the reason why I finished it so quickly
whatever people have there own opinions idc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still the show and manga is really good to me
Bro 2 months?😭are u insane?
Lmao I have had a lot of free time, I watched from 395 to current in 1 month from January 11th up to February 10-12th.
All you have to do to go so fast is being unemployed which is pretty easy imr? =w=‘
@@kinggeno1 Huh I thought that was average time or am I wrong?
@@vermelliwoolf8889 A whole month damn, well I'm going for round 2 and tryin to beat my score and yes just don't be unemployed pretty easy for me
Use One Pace. It cuts out all filler and saves you a TON of time
Summary: Whaahhh Whaahhh, its too long
Subscribe for the review so u don’t miss when I tear this show apart on everything it does wrong
I am the same as you. The pacing in dressrossa was really unbearable. So, I stop watching the anime and just read the manga.
I think what you Anime lovers don't get about One Piece is that it is a MANGA, The Manga is the GOAT. ANY OTHER ADAPTION of it is just that a fun adaption to watch. I couldn't imagine watching the anime if I wasn't excited to see the manga turned into a video.
you keep it up😂😂😂😂 you are really a nice comedian😂😂😂😂😂
Just drop it if you don’t like it. If you got past Marineford and still don’t enjoy it, you’re probably never going to.
Not gonna drop it I’m definitely gonna finish it so I can make a review on jt
Yeah, Dressrosa had me watching at 2x speed and skipping through each episode.
😂😂 about to try that
I love one piece, but I understand your issues with the pacing.
I have a feeling I might end up liking it once I’m all caught up 😂we’ll see if it’s worth it
I feel you brother anyone acting like they didnt forced themself to watch through a couple episodes is lying I personally dont like the artstyle and pacing too but pushed through it because I invested time and eventually grew on me most of what I like is just lore hype and some characters but its aight.
Thank you. A real comment
I don’t believe he was trying to come off as racist but more like this is like things that have happened in real life
@@kinggeno1 which is crazy cause as much as I agree it’s hard to not see it from the lens I identify with.
The thing about this arc is it’s really the only arc where I forget the name of Hordy Jones goons so damn easily. But I also think it sells oddly well the fact that they are only shells of human being possessed by intense rage and hatred. But I still can’t remember their names for very long which is impressive.
@@vermelliwoolf8889 you brought me to realize I typically only remember the main villain’s name.
@@diantem8235
I’ve been invested in following this story for more than 10 years now so I know most names. But damn these guys names are so forgettable it’s crazy lmao
Have you tried one pace or watching at 1.5x speed?
I could try that good idea I’ll see if Crunchyroll lets me
I was going to here you out but damn, I don’t think I can support your opinion. Also who said you had to catch up? Watch it at your own pace lol.
read it don't watch it
Might just do that
@@kinggeno1one pace it's so much better I rewatched it in 20 days
shitty take, the only benifit of reading is cos its a bit faster. its not worth losing all the action. a fight in a book will never the same as a show. no matter how good the story writing is
@@tacoking2125 pacing is unbearable after the timeskip so reading the manga is the only valid way to consume one piece. If you suggest the anime then you don't value time. One pace is a better option if you want the action
@@THEBOREDGUY249 another shitty take. If you aren't willing to spend the time, don't watch it. Like I just said. There is no action in reading a book.
Read thru Dressrosa and watch Katakuri 💯
Honestly, Dresrosa is a drag. It gets better after. The anime pacing is too much. Maybe check out One Pace or read the manga.
You hating because they're milking it is crazy tbh tho
Maybe it's not for you
I’m definitely going to finish the show
2 months ago I would’ve agreed with you 100 percent, and would’ve said worse. The pacing isn’t bad, it’s disgustingly dog crap! But funny thing tho…it’s the best piece of fiction ever created lol. I see the look of disbelief in peoples eyes when I tell them that One Piece is the best show ever created but I don’t recommend anyone to watch it. Seriously, your brother is right, after wano and into egghead, all those garbage fillers start to look like genius work of art. For someone who’s climbed the mountain, the view is unlike anything you’ve experienced in your entire life. Will I ever go through it again? HELLL NAHHH!! I aint leaving this view
I hope I feel like you after😂you’re the only one in this comment section that’s given me hope
Some valid points
Just drop it or watch the other version that has no fillers called One Pace. A lot of the fillers are trash and make the show unnecessarily long.
Imagine how different this video would be if he would just read the manga? LOL
I may do a manga vs anime adaptation video once I finish the show and manga
dressrosa almost made me quit the show i understand your pain but dont drop the show it gets better and there will be a time you would be glad that you didnt quit
I hope so 😂 watching right now
one piece is like harry potter, it's not perfect, but story is well thought out. harry potter has lots of problem, but people love it. it's similar to that. take it easy and enjoy it at your own pace. if u r not enjoying it, no need to force yourself. not everyone has to like a particular thing. I would recommend trying manga. but don't think of it as a task you need to complete.
Most level headed response
One piece makes part of my life for more than 15 years, i quit the anime dressrosa because of the pacing and the animation. It is really bad, i was wondering how there is anime only wachters.
Since then i just reading the manga and watch the anime when i want to watch some fights/moments animated.
Not a bad strategy
Can enjoy anime because it has animations (sometime good), good OSTs and good voice actors, and sometime bonus fun and almost clever additions. All it takes for me.
Dressrosa almost broke me in the anime too. Wano is just as bad if not worse.
It's not the source material's fault. Toei should have made things seasonal. You could release everything thus far in only about 500 episodes if they released 25 episodes every year or two.
Looking forward to The One Piece cause they could honestly do it all in 250 episodes.
I’m looking forward to that too
Is just not for you.
Still gonna power through and finish it tho 😂
yeah pacing gets so long and bad after time skip.
Hopefully it gets better
Oh God I don’t want to catch up and have to experience waiting every week for bad episodes
@@kinggeno1 yup! Hence why I drop it until there’s like 20-40 episodes I haven’t seen and binge. I do regularly keep up with the manga every week though cus the story is still good
read it
L take, except the pacing issue starting in dressrosa.
But thats why you should read it.
If I should just read it, who are they making the tv show for?
I understand. The manga is insanely good tho.
Man if y’ll don’t like it after watching 30 episodes just drop it, accept that it aint for everyone but its peak tho just sayin
That’s the thing. The first 30 episodes weren’t bad at all. It was enjoyable, it’s like the show waits for you to get invested then takes a dump😭
This makes no sense. If you can't handle the bad pacing why not swap to the manga? Why force yourself to the point where you need a 2 month break instead of reading 5 chapters to see if it's better 😂
And another thing.
It's okay bro just admit it...
... U weren't strong enough 🤷🏾♂️
I’m definitely going to finish it still 😂
400 episodes in a 6 Months? HA! Pathetic I did it in a month.
How do u have that much time!?😂
@@kinggeno1 I got injured at work so I had time off 😂
Peak fiction. Read it.
So basically you mean “peak fiction if you read it”😂
@@kinggeno1 Yup. There's a new anime adaptation coming out sometime this year that pretty much fixes your concern about the dragging. It's a different animation studio running it, so instead of 1000+ episodes it'll be like 200. It'll hopefully be the "definitive" One Piece anime.
I heard about that and can’t wait
Your used too over the top anime that has fast pacing i get it. But one piece is the best the best i’ve ever seen. And yes i have seen Aot and JJK.
Nah I wouldn’t say I want fast paced bc I’ve watched a ton of different anime’s. Slice of life and just regular anime’s. I just hope it starts getting good again like it was before the time skip
Just read the manga man.
Just read the manga or watched it in One Pace.
It is peak fiction it's only the anime that is trash ass.
The manga i the best thing ever ngl
