When I first saw this mv it hit me hard and had me mesmerized. The Korean version Goodbye was seen on many music shows. Taemin did win that round on Hit the Stage.
Hi there, thanks for the analysis. Ummmm, I hate to tell this to you but yes the performance is so different from the practice coz they're taken from two different time frames/occasions. The practice is from the Sayonara Hitori dance practice vid that's why there's still this a little awkwardness from taemin's since he still familiarized himself with the routine - Sayonara Hitori is the title track for his solo debut in Japan and he performed this first in his first Japan solo concert as well and this is a solo routine. The performance is performed much much later as part of his promotion activity while he's gearing up for his 2nd solo concert few months after the first one. You can sense how they throw and ingrained themselves into the dance, how believable and powerful the choreo has become. The reason why taemin performed with Koharu - the choreographer - was bcoz this stage was actually from Hit The Stage, a tv show where idols compete in a dance contest. The theme for the 1st eps was Evil and taemin thinking of showing the inner fight between the bad and good (and he has an already perfect song for the theme 🤭) that's why he asked her to dance with him as two assassins fight with each other

didn't taemin learn this in like a day and then filmed the dance practice. tbh i think this (the dance practice) is the weakest performance of his for this song (and it's so good). his live stages are wayy better in recent years of this song though hit the stage is one of my favourites taemins dance style went through some major evolutions once he started working with koharu
