Hi Marion! While I think all of the dresses are beautiful, my personal favorite is the light blue dress. I would order it in your size so that you can wear it comfortably. The other dresses might be cute for other events, like secular parties of some kind. Also, I love your idea about using the generational family wedding photos in a display. I did something similar when my mom gave me a kitchen apron that had belonged to her grandmother, my maternal great-grandmother. I found a picture of my great-grandmother and my grandma together, and then one of my mom and me. I put the four generation pictures side by side in frames next to where I hung up the apron in the kitchen. My mom had also written a poem for me on a card explaining the history of the apron, so I framed that as well. It's all displayed together in my kitchen, and I love how it tells a story of my family.

Definitely the last dress but I would make sure you are comfortable for the day even if it means sizing up and buying it elsewhere.

I love #1 on you. But, I understand your reservation. Number 2 is super cute but get it in a medium. Number 3 is too matronly. I am much older than you. And, you will have plenty of time to wear this type of clothing. Number 4 is very cute and fits criteria if you can't get Number 2 in size medium. Enjoy the party.

The 1st flower dress is hideous. The shoulders are too wide for too narrow hips. The 2nd is too short. The 3rd needs to be taken in. Yeah the last is best as is.
You are going to be active-running around, tending to guests, picking up your son when he has the inevitable meltdown, etc.
Number One is too short and the flower appliqués on the chest look weird. Number Two is too short and too low-cut. Number Three is too short. Number Four is also too short, but it’s the best of the group.
I found three possibilities from The Skirt Society, a small business in southern CA. I believe that all their clothes are made in the US, but that might have changed.

I am older. I don’t think any of the dresses are right. You are having a birthday party. Yes, special, but you have small children. You need to be able to bend over, no? A longer dress, not so formal fitting, would be way more practical. And you would get more use out of it.
3 and 4 Marion. Go classy, Just my humble opinion. No, #3 is not uber matronly.
I love the last 2. The one you think looks matronly looks very chic on you. The last dress with the pearls is perfect ONLY if you buy it in a larger size. You’ll just be uncomfortable and won’t enjoy yourself if you are wearing a too snug dress.

You picked the right dress, but I would get it in the correct size. You could wear it again for other events.
The ‘matronly’ one is very smart and suits you because it’s not matronly at all.

4 is the perfect dress. On camera it does not look tight , but you do not want to be uncomfortable if it feels too tight
The third one looks “ matronly” because on camera it looks too big for you , especially through your midsection.

This video popped up two different times on my RUclips app, not sure why but that's all right.
I prefer the third dress. I think of it as a classic style, not a matronly one. The second dress is a Big No for me. The fourth dress bothers me because I think the pearl trim cheapens it. The cut and color are pretty, but your own pearls would be much more elegant with it than the applied ones. I like the first dress but not for the occasion at hand. It's fine for something like a cocktail party.
