Taking me back on a trip to 2017,,, we won the last gameday our lgs had, playing naya marvel. we only had 1 ulamog so we went into Approach of the second sun instead, and man did people hate that
That seems….. much much worse no? Approach can’t even fulfill its second cast win the game clause bc you need to cast Approach from you hand to win the game. I guess you could spin, put second sun second from the top, then next turn upkeep spin to top the second sun and cast it. But then you need 7 mana and 12 energy which certainly doesn’t seem like the deck is designed to do without major revamping.
enormous amounts of lifegain between the puzzleknots, approaches, and ramp mono red and energy beatdown were top tier along with mardu vehicles, so being able to stall and gain life or hit that ulamog was enough 😭 casting from hand and holding priority to hit the second one with marvel worked well enough, but it was definitely a meta-call
i listen to your videos podcast style (because your narration is so good), and only rarely am able to watch. thus for the whole first match i kept hearing you say "ham tractor"; being behind on recent mtg releases, i just assumed it was a new universes beyond card i had never heard of...
I'm sure someone else has said it already but I didn't see it in a quick search of the comments (also didn't hear if you figured it out on your own...), Goblin Bombardment was put into modern with MH2.
Match 2 game 1 if you block just the double striker it doesn't die and you don't take lethal. If you get to untap and maybe hit emrakul then get 2 phlage attacks there a chance
Seeing this deck makes me wonder if there's a way to smush it together with the mono-W Collectors Cage deck, as the new MH3 Boros energy package fuels Marvel for free-ish, and with cards like Seasoned Pyromancer and Ocelot Pride (which this deck *could* be running), I feel like there's gotta be a way to run like 3-4 Marvels and like some split of like 4-6 Collector's Cage and Windbrisk Heights all tied together by the powerful energy core.
An early Suncleanser was sufficiently horrible that I wonder if it's worth dedicating some sideboard slots to it. What's the best answer, Flame Slash, something like that?
my immediate thought on seeing the emrakul strat, is instead of 5 emrakuls, i'd maybe try that new eldrazi chancellor? removal is definitely less splashy than emrakul's turn-taking effect, but it gives you a very powerful bit of card selection in the beginning and if you end up flooding out with removal and lands, but no threats, its something you actually have a reasonable chance of casting in the late-game

There's only 4 lands in this deck that generate colorless, so that card costing 7 doesn't actually make it castable.
