- Coheed and Cambria performing Key Entity Extraction III: Vic the Butcher and Key Entity Extraction IV: Evagria the Faithful live from The Afterman Tour at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, CA on February 22, 2013. This was recorded with a Sony Cyber-shot HX9V.
Legendary band, legendary music. Will always be my favorite.
The awesome thing is that CC give an experience. They can easily play every song dang near perfect, they've done it for years. With the lights, back tracks, themes, etc... It just adds to the experience. I wouldnt say they're dependent on anything other than being happy with what they do, which, if I were them, would take great pride in my work. Its amazing. I can understand some people dont dig the backing tracks, but when I saw them live, I felt like I was Sirus and The All Mother was speaking
For some reason I'm mesmerized by the left handed hi-hat. I cannot do that, I have to cross my right arm over or I lose my timing so easily. There's always something about these guys that makes me stop and appreciate their musicianship, evne the tiny things
I love both of these songs, hope they play them at the ATL show.

They sold out in like a week around my area, which is crazy because I wouldn't expect a Coheed concert to sell out in the DC area.
Josh is just SO DAMN entertaining to watch.

What part of Major didn't you comprehend? Emarosa is a group of nobodies, Kreator East Berlin 1990 has playback on it. Cursive uses playback @ Letterman 2009, I will give you John Prine though, I should have said Metal/Hardcore/Alt band.
They played that clip of knives being sharpened during the bridge. I don't know why that's a big deal though

My love for their music has only compounded over the years. I got into them in '08. Ascension is not really better they are different records. Ascension is definitely more progressive throughout the whole thing. Though Descension isn't as proggy it is an easier listen and more cohesive album. Both are about equal.
Is this current tour the best they've ever been live? I think so.

They've never played Mothers of Men live.
I still wouldn't go that far. Regardless of how you cut it, the sounds are big, and the shows are a hell of a lot of fun.
Oh sure I dont think I have im just saying. I know i dont feel the same as i did say three years ago. Dunno why just dont have that spark for them, maybe I need to give GA1 a listen again :)
They're still playing the song though. There are samples and such, but I think it's a real exaggeration to say they rely on it, the track is still almost entirely just the band playing, and if they played without any samples it would still hold up.

Their live show does rely a lot on studio sounds though. I would personally enjoy their shows more if they didn't use as many pre recorded vocals and effects. They could really benefit from a good keyboardist, in my opinion.
Name me a Major touring band that uses absolutely NO playback. I'll wait.
They've always had pop influence dude(Favor House, Suffering, Blood Red Summer), it makes them unique because most prog bands don't do that. nevertheless, Coheed don't rely on studio trickery to sell records. That's bullshit.

ive followed them since 2005. Descension is full of pop. Still ok but not as great as Ascension. Some epic tunes on it though! Number city, Hard Sell my favourites!
Linkin Park uses no playback. Paramore uses no playback. Papa Roach. Three Days Grace (before Adam left) a lot of bands I listen to dont use playback

Really? You took it upon yourself to be the "ONE" joker on youtube who has to attack this band for selling out when all they've ever done is create art? There is nothing commercial sounding about their latest albums, the effects and sounds make the records sound even more experimental and proggy. Apparently you're not hearing it right.
