That was very brave in 1981. Remember on Y & R Katherine Chancellor had a "Friend" but the idea of them being a couple was scrapped. I remember being stunned when Maureen Garrett came out and admitted she had been married to a woman named Janet but they are no longer together and Janet's three sons didn't have a problem.
