I agree with your assessment. As a ski shop boot fitter with a low volume foot I have skied in the Salomon X Max, Tecnica Mach I LV and just got my new Nordica Pro Machine boots. I am a big fan of the cork fit liner and skied it in the Nordica Strider as a backcountry boot. I like that Nordica gives you a second set of ISO 5355 ( DIN) Alpine soles with the Pro Machine in case you have non GripWalk bindings in your ski quiver which I do have.
Are the pro machines the best boot you’ve ridden? I just got a pair but I’m hesitant on them because i spent so much money on them getting the custom footbed with them, now I’m thinking I should get the k2 recon pro for way cheaper. Your input would be greatly appreciated
Some of the manufacturers mentioned in this review offer the same model in a HV like Tecnica, a Custom HD shell like Salomon X Pro that will heat mold out to 106 mm or the Nordica Machine series that are offered in different widths like the Sport Machine at 102 mm.
Good to chat on the live cast. Question I should have asked at the time, ski boot flex? I have 110 Atomic Hawx and 110 Techinca Cochise and the Atomics while older but are definitely softer. I ski a Brahma and a few Enforcers usually but a lighter weight skier at say 70kgs and 6ft tall. A lot of reviews say 110 is an intermediate level boot/flex and I feel I ski better than that. Interesting to hear your thoughts and if going to a 120 or more, would I notice any difference or improvement? Cheers, 2 beers owed now.....
Thanks for joining me on the stream! :) I hope it was a good time. Yeah I think if you were to go into the stiffer flexes you would notice the difference. Just may be a little time to adapt to it, but it would allow you to ski a bit more aggressively. Just gives you that feeling of confidence when you are getting after it!
@@PatriotFootbeds cheers, always hard to know as can't demo boots and it is so individual based. Presume when boot fitting from scratch, for the stiffness indication you start at their weight and have to ask how the person skis and hopefully they don't BS you? ..... also ignoring the boot pricing factor of course, as flex goes up so does the cost.
@@scollyutube Spot on! Yeah first conversation is about where and how people ski, generally before even taking shoes off. Also after a while you know how to ask the right questions to not be BS'd :)
@@halfskip1785 No, they have actually improved the fit with a better shape in the toe box. It is still a great boot, maybe I am becoming bias against Atomic. :) I wouldn't dissuade anyone from them, but am just liking some of the offerings ahead of these. I think it is time for some progression from them next year. Would like to see something new.
What do you think about the atomic hawx 120 ultra gw in the narrow fit? I have very narrow feet and legs and with the inserts put in the insoles and behind the calf especially
Maybe if I get one of these I can finally skii without being able to lift my heels, or having my skiis wobble like there is an earthquake under my skiis... My problem: Long feet, but skinny.
A lace-up liner will change your skiing life. Zipfit Gara LV or the Zipfit Worldcup Sidewinder with extra cork. If you ski 50 days a year, the liner will last you a decade and you can move it into any new boot you buy. It will be the best money you ever spend in your life on anything to do with skiing. Alternatively, I would suggest a 96 last Atomic Clubsport or their Team Issue 95-last boots

Nice Thomas! How has the winter build up been for you? Has it been a busy start? I hope things are cranking along.

Nice review. I hope narrow footers are helped out as much as I was with your wide foot video a couple years back. 👍👏😎🍻
Thanks for the list. On this list which boot would be the lowest VOLUME, not just width?
Thanks Joel,. new one coming soon! :) Fischer Curv would be the best lower volume in this list.
Are you going to do a top 5 high performance for wide feet/ high volume ?
Here is one I did a couple of years back, but yeah for sure I can do an updated list. Stay tuned! :) ruclips.net/video/kx_Nr-PWnPo/видео.html

Surprised that Atomic Hawx Ultra didn't make your top 5 since that got one of the highest scores you've given out. Soured on that?
Yeah not as psyched on the Ultra this year. It prob would have been number six if I was doing 10.
@@PatriotFootbeds Anything in particular that you did not like?

Fischer stopped with their vacuum boots, how does the new ones with this technology stack up to the old ones in terms of moldability and durability?
Yeah essentially the same plastic. I think a few of their boots are exceptional! However they do crank up the optionality, almost too much.
@@PatriotFootbeds thank you!

Yeah they are great. Very good narrow fitting and super customisable in almost every way. On this list in particular, they just missed the cut.
No Lange RS130 in your list? My preferred boot!
No Race boots in this list :) That will be later

And you need a liner sleeve! :) Game changer!

What about 100 mm last?
I will create a Medium fit list. Cheers!
Nordica Speed Machine and Tecnica Mach I MV and Salomon X Pro are 3 models with 100 mm. They have all the same features covered in this review.
Or 102 last please
Nordica Sport Machine 102mm or Salomon X Pro Custom Shell HD 100mm - 106mm when you heat mold shell. Tecnica does offer a Mach I HV 130 that’s 103 mm
