Powered by Amlogic S905x CPU 4GB of ram and. Mali G31 Mp2 GPU Its defiantly not as good as the Nvidia Shield TV but this little box isn’t bad at all for a budget option and it even works with Geforce Now Steam link and Project xCloud!

I like the clock on front.
Not a gimmick, it's actually functional.
My family had a DVD player with an LED clock display. I would've prefered one over an LCD.

I like the clock on the front. Very few devices actually have that now, I'd bet most techy people don't have a clock in their livingroom at all unless they have one of those alexas/googlehomes with the touchscreen.
i have an ipad mini1 that i literally just use as a huge digital clock. any old-ish tablet of any size can be used for this purpose if its too old to be a meaningful regular use device, most of them will still run with permanent power applied even if the battery is shot.
that said, i do appreciate having a random clock to glance at most directions i would happen to look in the house.
Yeah, I really wish more set-top boxes (and even HTPC cases/RPi cases now that I think about it) had this functionality :(
This outperforms my Amazon Fire stick Gen 2 not only in performance but also comparing the price. The bundle I got for Christmas was $40. As a future replacement, I am SOOOO buying this! Thanks ETA 😬🙏

@Nolberto Cales oh has it been improved? Cool, that's good to know. Last video I watched said you couldn't do anything outside of the Amazon store with it.
Highly recommend getting this box. Got one last May. Still using it to this day to watch movies, football matches etc

So glad I bought the shield TV 2 years ago, best purchase I have done in years.
I installed retroarch from the Google play store on this, and everything runs so smoothly. I worried about N64 and PSP, but they run crisp
N64 runs like crap via emuelec, even though it uses retroarch cores. Weird.
@@thepcsurgery I skipped installing Emuelec, and went straight to Retroarch from the boxes Google Play store. Much better than tinkering
Emuelec is mostly done by 1 person, so if N64 runs ok on Android that means it may not be optimized yet on Emuelec.

I wouldn't call that clock on the front a gimmick. Cable boxes have them as well, and if this is replacing it...

I’m over the Raspberry Pi for retro gaming. I found my modded PS Classic much more enjoyable in the last year that I don’t even use my Pi anymore. I’m digging that this can run 2 operating systems and is under $50.

I like this one even the cheaper model with a cheap controller could be a fun little box for a kid to play a ton of older games (32GB would hold everything 16 bit and down and a selection of PS1 games no problem.) This one is tempting for me, might grab it for my grandson and spend a couple of days setting it up for him. Just need to grab a Xbox controller.... Still for what a little over a 100 bucks? Better than most of the "Classic" consoles combined :P
I have this box, on game streaming even ons ethernet, I get or with xcloud the video pauses but the audio stays, gfn runs perfectly fine, has a few stutters for me also and stadia works great too, cod mobile doesn't work for anyone wondering

Do you know if it runs the dreamcast and saturn cores in retroarch? Or stand alone emulators?
Most Dreamcast games run acceptably, but you will see some slowdown. Saturn isn't going to work well.

I ended up getting the a95x f3 air. Same GPU and CPU and more ram and ROM storage for about $10 to $20 more.
Can't wait to get steam link setup, on the raspberry pi 3b+ it works ok minus audio dropping out randomly but not excessively to get annoying and I have to use my Xbox one controller wirelessly connected to my PC or the input lag is horrendous 🤢
I picked one of these up after seeing your first video with emuelec on it and it runs pretty much everything I want it to. Would love to see a video of how to set it up for a few of the more complicated emulators
Just got this a few days ago. Have you had any bluetooth issues?
@@sweatbot5000 I've not tried to use the bluetooth yet. I've been using a 2.4ghz pad with a dongle and had no problems with that aside from needing to unplug the dongle each time I turn it off the back on again
@@RobLIVEukPSN thanks for your reply. I'm using a Ipega PG-9156 in the regular OS, and though I can pretty much connect the gamepad to every Android device in my home, it's connecting to the T95M+ with no button input. Have a great week and stay safe, RUclips.

What resolution are you running N64 games in? And are you in ricefast, or medium? Just nice details to know. Also would of been nice if FPS was enabled.

Yeah the explanation you made for emuelec didnt work, I did everything right but it just didn't work, not your fault, however, retro arch works great on it. Just need to configure the right buttons on Your controller. And you can still add roms via the SD card.
What are the chances, just yesterday I ordered a T95 Max too, for my mom's TV. Although I got myself the cheaper version (a TUREWELL with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage). I might test it as an emulation station too, since I have a pair of spare Dualshock 3s on my old controller box.

I given up on all this android devices, I figure just connect an hdmi cable to your computer and solve all your problems. You can't really beat x86/64 as general procces architecture in my opinion. But is nice to see progress.
Yes, the best approach is to install Batocera on a USB stick and boot it on a x86 PC or notebook, as it can run PS2, Wii, NDS games etc.
FYI....ViewPORT (as in the port you are viewing through) not viewpoint.

What controllers do you recommended for this box? Just picked it up and am having trouble with games. Also I’m having issues clicking on things in certain games like Pokémon tcg can’t get past log in screen and can’t play call of duty mobile

Eta, what I need is a box that'll let me play an Android app (from Google play store) in portrait(vertical) mode, and in multiple windows(two or three instances), using a PC mouse and keyboard. Is that doable?
I got one of these after seeing an earlier video. Pretty good for the money. The biggest issue for me is controller issues. I got a gamesir controller with dongle that didn't work, an 8bitdo Bluetooth controller that wouldn't connect. A 360 controller with dongle that won't connect. Only way I can play is with wired PS4 controller in emuelec. Oh, and I had to ram a cocktail stick in the AV Jack to get it to boot off the sd card.
For some reason, N64 games run like crap on emuelec on this box (well, some do. You need a calendar to measure the framerate on Rush 2049). Dreamcast works better, as do all the 8 and 16 bit systems I tried.
thats odd my wireless 360 works just like when using it on an Rpi.... is it a "real" 360 or knockoff?
Great video. Please confirm what is the latest Android security update this box accepts. Also, does it allow you to login with a Google G Suite account? I tested an Android box in 2019 which would allow logging in with a standard GMail account but not a G Suite account. We called Google G Suite and they said the problem was with the box, not with the account. Thank you.
The way I see it, this cheap China branded device is targeted for personal users that just wanted an Android TV Box that happens to play retro games decently, I would be surprised if it even supports regular security updates.
You may be better off paying more for US branded products knowing that the big companies will invest in security and certifications on their products.
How would this unit perform running virtual pinball games like Zen & Williams?

I believe you misspoke. If not I'm buying one of these immediately. You're saying that the remote that comes with this thing actually functions as an "air mouse"? I believe what you mean is that like most cheap Android boxes, it has a mouse mode where the d-pad will move your cursor around.

Compared to the X96 Max Plus. Which one do you recommend?
You must have gotten a good one, the 1 that I had didn't even have sound and all of the preinstalled apps were not supported by the device.
Is there performance differences between emuelec and android? And which one is better?
Both Android or Emuelec should have similar performance when running same emulator cores, if there's any difference it would be up to the developers to optimise the emulators.
The advantage of emuelec is that you boot directly into a nice frontend and straightaway select system and game.
Did you know the Remote is Programmable, Hold down the Blue Power Button until Solid, Now you can Press One of the Programmable Buttons while hold the TV Remote at it,
I have a T95Max+ and a R-TV Box X10 Max, same spec's i prefer the X10 Max
Does this have Chromecast built into the OS like the Shield? If so or if you could get that going, it could be a workaround for getting 1080p - 4K playback on "unlicensed" devices.
how i can connect this to a hometheater this box no have optical output .. if i use another way the hometheater will accept for 5.1 dts etc?

Any alternatives for 2021? really disappointed with my 2019 shield. It decided to take a crap yesterday and will not turn on anymore. Not relishing the thought of forking out another 150+ when this one didn't even last a year. I may just buy a cheap roku to replace the shield.

Shield had much higher performance, no contest at all. This is just a $40 box, don't expect it to be as good as the Shield.

I'm really interested in seeing the performace of the Ugoos AM6 Plus which uses S922X-J running at 2.2GHz. I think it's the highest performance TV box from China so far.
But for whatever reason I don't see anyone doing a retro gaming review on it. The only youtube videos I found are those from a russian youtuber and nothing else.

Apparently the Ugoos AM6 Plus performs much better than the GT King Pro.
I've preferred a NICELY specd, similarly priced android box over a Pi from DAY ONE. I never saw the appeal of those little Pis. Especially since Pis dont run MK arcade games well

i had a problem with the dtb file for x88 pro x 3 tv box amlogic franklin s905x3 ,and after trying many images i have found a dtb file that boots into emuelec and create partitions then a black screen for 120 seconds after that boots again and freezes at the emuelec loading page for ever

Not too bad for $45 but for 4k video on Amazon, Netflix and Hulu and better overall emulation it's worth paying the $130 for the Nvidia Shield TV.
Why did they not go with the UDOO RYZEN Bolt V1000 SBC maker board and would have been very functional maybe even better plus a 80x86 version of Raspbian.

Hi Would the box play the 4k/60 file if copied to the internal storage though?
It looks to be hardware processing limited and not storage transfer limited, if so, it should have no difference whether you run it from a USB drive or internal storage.
Yes. Just use @normal player@, like MX Player, ViMu or Kodi. Even USB2 HDD is more than enough. If You want use USB thumb drive, this drive must have read speed more than 20mb/s (most cheap drive cant).
You gonna do a full run down the TiVo 4K streaming device in a video coming up maybe it running EmuElec ( since it's running a version of S950 Amlogic ) using a memory card using a USB type c to USB and than using USB flash drive maybe u can do this on here also maybe using different interfaces aka launchers if that can be done and how is the emulation on it is it the new king under $60 ( as of now heard it's gonna go up on price later on to like $70 starting may 27 ) please and if u not can you comment on here saying you won't please yeah ?

How is the temperature management? I have a cheap android tv box (h96max+) and it overheat a lot even idle or when it's turned off. And because of the heat the cpu throttle and it slow down too much making it unusable. I opened and it has a really small heatsink.. It tried to fit s larger heatsink but it heats a lot too, then I used a 60mm 12v fan and then it worked fine, but it too much trouble so I want a new one that doesn't have this overheat problem.
so I made the purchase based on this video but discovered that physical keyboards are just not detected. I tried both an USB keyboard and Bluetooth keyboard. ETA Prime, or anyone, has encounter this issue?

But is it just me, that when you sideload Disney + there is no sound?? would love to know....
