I’m sure there’s a lot I missed so let’s keep the conversation going in the comments- what did Utopia mean to you? Utopia is something that people feel is so far-fetched and out of reach, some perfect state of mind, But you create it yourself. There are people who achieve utopia every day. They may not be the richest people with the dopest cribs, but it’s a utopia wherever they are, and that’s the most you can have. With every album I live in these worlds in my mind - I’m trying to show people experiences where utopian things can exist, and you can enjoy yourself and have a good time. They can create energy that spews out magical things - new cures, new buildings, new avenues for people to move forward. People need to see that utopia is real."
@@FjKGKjF this is such a dumbass take. Music wouldn't be at the quality of music it is right now if artists didn't experiment on albums. One of the biggest reasons Kanye is one of the best rappers of all time is because of his constant experimentation that innovates the genre of rap as a whole.
When examining Utopia, it's crucial to acknowledge it as an antiquated concept, a vestige of a bygone era. We discerned in the dawn of the 20th century, during the age of modernism, the cataclysmic repercussions of utopian visions. The gruesome narrative of the world wars and Hitler's ascendancy emanated from these illusive utopian ideations. Post World War II, we have grown hesitant, as a collective society, in chasing this mirage of a perfect society - a utopia. We have discerned, that utopia is a paradox; it's an enticing chimera, a siren call that ultimately navigates us into a maelstrom of chaos and destruction. In our contemporary world, power and wealth are concentrated in the hands of mega corporations, which sway governmental policies and manipulate public consciousness with their intricate web of algorithms, psychological operations, and propaganda. These corporations are provided with the luxury of experiencing a pseudo-utopia (corporate utopia= unlimited profit, free from governmental regulations despite if they harm people or the environment) a capitalistic paradise in this mortal realm. In stark contrast, the rest of us are left grappling with a dystopian reality. We battle an onslaught of perils: soaring inflation, dwindling wages, environmental degradation, cancerous side effects, limited rights to protest, limited avenues to unify, screen-dominated lives, ceaseless wars, rampant mistrust in media and governmental institutions, and the gut-wrenching isolation instigated by social media. This dystopian existence is our collective struggle, and the list of its complexities is extensive. We must confront these challenges head-on, never succumbing to utopian illusions, but building a better society based on realism and shared responsibility.
I quickly realized that this album was much darker than I had expected it to be. I then understood that we aren’t witnessing utopia firsthand, we are observing Travis’ struggle to find utopia. This album goes deeper than we think and the wait was so worth it
@@Louis-yg3qr if you can’t find anything deeper, then maybe the music isn’t for you. Telling people how to resonate with music is wack, only boring people choose to judge others
This is the greatest breaking down of anything I have never seen. It crazy how people nowadays are blinded by anything they simply call evil influence and anything they judge from a distance but actually that thing is bright shiny. With this message Travis is giving on UTOPIA we shall conquer one day. Happiness is where you are, don't try to get happiness, be happy. UTOPIA is not a place, it is where you are.
that’s what the cover represents! As soon as I saw it I got gladiator vibes, as if Travis is fighting for his life in a colosseum, but to everyone watching it’s just a sport for entertainment, even looking similar to a boxer with his champion belt. It’s as if despite the triumph and glory, he’s still dehumanised, regardless of whether he made it out of going through hell, making you wonder if either were worth it
Its Acc crazy how you not only listened, understood, broke down and created a video about the concept of the album this fast. And you do it so well as well and so accurate.
I had a gut feeling when listening to his album that the conditions he describes are dystopian. The theme where Utopia is what he wants to achieve but he’s struggling to achieve it. Parts of his life is dystopian but other parts are utopian like his love for his daughter.
The Dark beats with the tinge of Light creeping in is so fire too. Emphasizes the point of how the subjective utopia is only that to the eyes of the beholder.
This albums vibe gives me chills its paint this picture of an almost anti-hero fighting for their right to exist in the spotlight. I was a lil upset to hear no cactus jack members. After listening a couple times it make sense as the other members have a more lovey or hype and approachable tone. This album feels like its revealing the ugly and is much darker with its emotion, the dystopia.
Bottom line is that there really is no utopia. Its impossible due to human nature. If there were a place that seemed utopian, chances are that it's dyspotian as in order to maintain "perfection", it most likely would require dirty work. Where there are winners, there are losers. One must fall, so that another may rise
kinda crayz how travis scott, an artist people deemed had "no substance" tackled and explained such an important theme and message to the youth people really need to give him his flowers
Well explained sir these artists know what they sign up for and if they don't after a couple months they start to figure it out so I don't feel sorry or bad for any of them you reap what you sow 🤷🏾♀️
Travis will build entire worlds, concepts and sonic landscapes just to not even really talk about it in his music. That's not a knock on the album, but he doesn't do much expanding on his concepts. He's kind of like "what if an album is about this?" and then the production itself paints the picture. Like he's scoring a movie rather than writing a script
My first listen I was confused, second listen I was pissed cause I didn’t like it more. But after taking a step back. On a third listen it clicked. You really gotta erase what you previously know about Travis Scott. This is his Yeezus definitely
Nah this is a mix of old and new Travis, Yeezus was a complete different sound from ye when it was released. Reminds me of a dark Astroworld where instead of a fun time you see a dead and abandoned place.
You hit it right on the head, but let’s call a spade a spade, all the artists we love today fell into that darkness of the industry , & have now seen that just as quickly as they’re receiving these royalties it can be taken faster than they received. The Devil Works Hard.
Brooo I was listening to the lyrics because I saw it on TikTok and I was wondering why evbdy so addicted to the song I’m a Christian I looked into the lyrics of “Telekinesis” and it’s literally demonic it was also talking about how they tried to clone door dealers and stuff and these lyrics “Might as well turn up now, He gon' pop up unannounced To the trumpets, do you like the way it sounds?” SAID IT ALL ik there’s more to the whole album I haven’t uncovered yet but this song alone tells a story y’all need to wake upp I know y’all have heard it so many times but I’m saying it again Yeshua is coming back real soon
