I agree completely, but the person I was reacting to said to 'step up and foster'. If they had said: 'step up and do the minimum you can, even if it's just donate a few dollars a month or give them blankets' I wouldn't have said anything :) Although, on the other hand, if you really, truly have nothing you can spare (and unfortunately there are still too many people who can't because they don't even have enough for themselves) complaining, or maybe a better description: making your voice heard to local government, for instance for more subsidies, can make a difference.
We found a kitten in a soccer field right before a freeze, we waited a while for the mom to come back but she never did. Her nose was scraped up since she was in the concrete. we took her home. he eyes were not open yet. but now she has been with us for 3 weeks now and is freaking adorable. this is my first time having a cat so im learning a lot from you. She suggests that if you are helping to save lives and ensure that the kittens are adopted out to forever homes then you're doing a better service to A) the community, B) yourself and C) Cat-dom. Or something like that. In other words, you're supposed to have the feels. Goodbye is the goal. But you're saving lives, not collecting a zoo :) Spread the love around. When I was 8 I had a baby kitten who didn't want to eat. I was deeply sad and wanted to help him but my parents didn't. They said he wasn't going to be better any soon. The took him to the vet who got my tiny kitten to sleep forever. After seeing your videos I was so sad and crying because we could have helped my little boy. The only problem was that we didn't know how to help a kitten in need. I wish I was older and have seen your videos before we got my little kitten and raised him a strong tomcat. I hope that I have the chance one day to provide a home for a kitten in need to sort of make the mistakes my family did any better 🙌🏼 you are such an inspiration

My parents didn't want me to get degrees to become a vet (which is what I wanted) so instead I have a bachelor's, master's and PhD is subjects that don't even come close to speaking to me the way animals do, especially kittens. I was infatuated with kittens from a very young age, and our family's first kitten was named Emily and I loved her so much. I would get home from school, get off the bus, and run to see her. She would suckle my ear lobe and as a first grader, it really calmed me down. I felt intense love for my baby kitten. My parents made sure she stayed outside, and even though I tried and tried to bring her in, it was an impossible feat for me. She would cuddle in the rafters of the garage. Well, one year, she was hanging around a pure white feral boy cat, and they built a nest together and then Emily got pregnant. I was so excited. But one night my brother and a friend got high on drugs and made a point to drive around the neighborhood to run over any cats. They ran over my pregnant Emily. I remember my dad cried when he told me, like a big belly cry. I was so shocked I couldn't see straight. I still can't imagine what my dad saw... had to see. And that poor pure white feral boy cat. For weeks he would pace around the house, meowing, looking for his love Emily. She was gone. And I was heartbroken. The brother? Well, that's a different story for another day, but he did grow up to be one of the most vicious, awful, abusive, psychologically dangerous people I know, but he's so good at it, that people actually think he's some sort of God or something. He's worshipped by his peers and does thing that make me question the sanity of the people around him. My dad died in 2008, and not once did he call out for that brother of mine. He called to me when he'd get confused. He wanted me to bring in the dogs to see them, he knew, and I was relieved that one person on this earth understood his psychosis. But then he died and I was alone. Now it's time to reclaim who I always wanted to be, and that person is someone who helps animals.. P.S. My cat, Frank, says hi. I got him at a shelter and he just looked like a Frankie. Again, thank you for what you do. I'm in awe.
I'm thankful for the local animal shelter I volunteer at. As far as shelters go, we're blessed with 700+ volunteers and a huge outpouring of community support. We have the resources to adopt out FIV+ cats, FLe cats, and we're able to keep animals for _years_ until they find the right home.
Thank you Kitten lady, because of your helpful videos me and my daughter were able to care for the tiny black runt of a litter (mum & babies were found abandoned in our garden!) who was very ill and needed antibiotic shots and hand rearing. Now, she's the most gorgeous little girl, just shy of 1 year old, healthy and happy! We have her and her sister (in my header pic) and our lives revolve around these flippin' cats - totally adore them!
We too took in countless neonatal kittens over the last 17 yrs. It was our specialty when it came to rescuing. And it was always rewarding when we saw each grow and get adopted by forever loving homes. All our personal cats were orphaned abd bottle raised. Thank you both for taking on neonatal kittens.
I have a cat her name is Maia and in June she had a baby , a boy . His eyes opened at 10 days and then his mother was beaten by my neighborhood she had her leg broken, her back it was not okay, her belly was covered with bruises and a really hard pain. I helped her to get well and her baby to grow up but...I tried and tried ,warm bad, good milk i was feeding on him about 1 and 1 hour everything but he died...

I can't thank you enough for the work you do. I live in a small town close to St. Louis and there are just not many resources for kittens or cats. It hurts my hurt to see the wide gap in treatment of kittens & cats compared to that of pups & dogs. We have so many feral colonies and dumped kittens it's unimaginable. The resources are stretched there just isn't enough help.

I agree we have had days at -40 degrees F & that was the high. Usually the teens is our low for the night in the winter. No matter if you can't regulate your body temp anything below 50F is cold.

I have a 3 1/2 week old preemie and mom was short on milk. I think she's going to make it. I can finally sleep more than 2 hours now. She's tiny but gaining weight every day. It's rewarding helping them. Also did physical therapy on 3 twistys and one flat chested kitten and it worked and vet couldn't tell there was anything wrong after awhile. The little angels are worth being a zombie.
Did they ever find the mom? I would have put a live catch feral trap out there with food in it where the babies were found. The mother probably would go in it to get some food and it would have safely trapped her. I hope she made it through the winter and was not too sad she lost her kittens. I have caught quite a few feral kittens and cats and have found them loving homes. I have kept some of them as pets. I wish I could save them all.

Kitten Lady i was wondering... When something like this happens (kittens found without their mother), is it still possible that the mother cat returns to the nest? Because when she returns and sees that her kittens aren't there, isn't that frustrating for her? Like a mother (human) "lost" her child while shopping (for instance). Now (thankfully) the kittens are taken care of, but will people also search (or keep an "close eye") for the mother?
Yes, they usually check the nest. The mom cat usually doesn't let the kitties alone for a long time when they are this young. So if they didn't find the mother, she likely abandoned them or died.

You're doing an amazing job with all those babies. I wish I could foster kittens in my community but my cat is FIV positive and I live in a one room studio. As soon as I upgrade to some place bigger I'll foster at least 500 kittens at once to make up for lost time ;) You're incredible and so inspiring!!

Aren't 32 °F, 0 °C? So basically 31 °F is barely just under 0 centigrades, so I can understand that that is not "cold" for an Irish person.
I agree we have had days at -40 degrees F & that was the high. Usually the teens is our low for the night in the winter. No matter if you can't regulate your body temp anything below 50F is cold.

thank you so much for helping me just by your videos and website, just by that you helped me prepare for helping kittens at shelters and pet shops. My dream was to become a kitten helper like you but my parents restricted me because they said i wasn't prepared,so because youtube and google was the only websites that i could rely on so i scrolled around and searched through hundreds of useless websites and videos until i came across kitten lady and imediatley got enough information to prepare for kittens. now i am waiting for my big day to rescue a kitten and keep them until they are old enough to be adopted. Thank you so much for your help through my emotional breakdowns about no kitten saving.

@@korokforest9395 I agree people should get their cats fixed but they probably found homes for the kittens so they weren't adding to street kittens (I'm assuming that's the problem you were talking about)
I have a 3 1/2 week old preemie and mom was short on milk. I think she's going to make it. I can finally sleep more than 2 hours now. She's tiny but gaining weight every day. It's rewarding helping them. Also did physical therapy on 3 twistys and one flat chested kitten and it worked and vet couldn't tell there was anything wrong after awhile. The little angels are worth being a zombie.
Did they ever find the mom? I would have put a live catch feral trap out there with food in it where the babies were found. The mother probably would go in it to get some food and it would have safely trapped her. I hope she made it through the winter and was not too sad she lost her kittens. I have caught quite a few feral kittens and cats and have found them loving homes. I have kept some of them as pets. I wish I could save them all.

Kitten Lady i was wondering... When something like this happens (kittens found without their mother), is it still possible that the mother cat returns to the nest? Because when she returns and sees that her kittens aren't there, isn't that frustrating for her? Like a mother (human) "lost" her child while shopping (for instance). Now (thankfully) the kittens are taken care of, but will people also search (or keep an "close eye") for the mother?
That is a difficult thing, but I think rescues usually assume that the mom abandoned them or has died.

Yes, they usually check the nest. The mom cat usually doesn't let the kitties alone for a long time when they are this young. So if they didn't find the mother, she likely abandoned them or died.
