I think the best explanation for the Yiga Hideout being part of the zone in BotW was likely because you need to go there for progressing the Gerudo section of the main story.
Fuse the blue/green one with a sword, hit an enemy, and watch it yeet across the screen. Doesn't increase much damage, but it does knock the enemy far away.
I feel that its highly important to recognize your lack of self preservation when breaking rocks and killing mobs. I commend you my friend. thank you for your service.
Lol i purposely left some of those shots in bc they made me laugh while editing. Thanks for noticing. Having 100+ fairies in your inventory spoils a guy
And people say that the totk map is EXACTLY the same as the one of botw like copy and paste...both games take place in the same hyrule yes,but they are both very different in various ways like this amazing video has proved, just look how many differences there are in both games and this is only one region of the map... (Sorry for my bad english I'm italian)
One thing I wish was mentioned in the video was in BotW, Link wasn't affected by the heat until he got into Gerudo Desert proper, whereas in TotK, due to climate change, the heat affects Link in Gerudo Canyon as well.
The reason that the yiga clan hideout is in the wasteland region in botw is so that the player knows that that’s where you need to go for the main quest
Word. Yeah someone else helped me realize that too. Makes sense, but geographically it still seems like such an odd cutout. A sore thumb of the region lol
One other notable thing that has to do with weather and climate when it comes to Gerudo Desert is that in BOTW, desert weather (hot during the day and cold at night) doesn’t hit you until you actually enter the desert biome itself. But in TOTK, not only has that weather expanded into Gerudo Canyon and the surrounding hills and mountains, but it goes right up against the edge of the Taobab Grassland, which suggests that some desertification may be happening in the areas south of the Great Plateau between where the Gerudo Desert is now, and the mountains west of Lake Hylia. And I’d say that makes sense, especially when you take into account that where the Taobab Grassland is now actually was part of the Gerudo Desert when Hyrule was founded in this Zelda timeline.
My favorite ZeldaTubers are now 100 Percent Zelda, The Bread Pirate, Wolf Link, and The Tony Express. This series is so fun omg Tony ❤ keep up the good work! You are so underrated
The plan is to cover every region of the map, then also do other comparisons like sheikah vs zonai shrines, champion abilities vs ghost champ partner powers, runes vs arm magic, sheikah slate vs purrah pad, etc.
That is significant and you're the first to bring that one to my attention. I'm sad I missed that, bc I like to mention climate changes, but they're the most difficult to spot. Good catch, thanks!
Pretty good video overall! I do miss the lack of mention of the new shifting sands zones, and the big rift that breaks the path between the bazaar and gerudo town, though. But it was pretty interesting nonetheless
Yeah i totally missed that rift between gerudo town and kara kara bazaar. Was sad when i realized that, but i plan to eventually do a deeper dive on comparing all major cities, so i should mention that in the beginning of the gerudo town video. Gald you liked it
Minor point of clarity: it’s a cherry blossom (sakura) tree, not a cherry tree. Cherry blossom trees were bred specifically to produce beautiful flowers, and while some of them do produce cherries, they aren’t a cherry you’d want to eat. Cherry trees, on the other hand make delicious fruit but have fairly nondescript white flowers.
Spectacle Rock may have also been inspired by Spectacle Island in The Wind Waker. It's a small island west of Windfall that shares its shape with the original rock formation in the NES game and this structure in the Era of the Wild games. Sometimes the water level rises *just* high enough to briefly cover the central beach and make it look like two separate islands.
These videos are great. But I'm also interested in comparing Hyrule in these games to Age of Calamity. It'd be a very different beast to tackle given the very different playstyles, and that you can go inside many of the buildings and structures that are not accessible in BoTW or ToTK, but it would be interesting, nonetheless. The canonicity of Age of Calamity is questionable as it obviously deviates from the main series of events, but Nintendo had a far larger role in the development and story of the game than the previous Hyrule Warriors game, and there's still a lot to compare between games. Edit: Fixed mistake in second sentence, correcting Breath of the Wild to Age of Calamity.
Did you mean to say that youre interested in comparing hyrule in these games to age of calamity? The canonicity of AoC is not in question. It's a spinoff series that's not connected to the LoZ story anymore than works of fan fiction, so i stray away from ising any info from that game when making points in the scripts for these comparisons... i guess other than the fact that i did mention king rhoam's use of the royal claymore in the great plat vid
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast Yes, I did mean comparing these games to Age of Calamity. My bad. Edit: My personal takeaway of the game is that it's a timeline split (despite how much more complicated it makes the timeline, but I have no issue if anyone thinks otherwise. But a comparison in this level of detail still greatly interests me.
@@TheZeldaEnthusiastI know AOC isn’t technically canon but the Zelda team had a huge hand in the writing and cutscenes and I think they tried their best to make this a game that could be seen as an alternate timeline to BOTW’s past. It’s not the ACTUAL events of the great calamity but I feel like it gives you a certain hint of what could’ve happened as it’s easy to imagine certain things happened similarly but ended badly in the actual timeline. Plus I feel like too much work went into the design of past Hyrule I have to imagine Nintendo would consider that canon for how those areas of Hyrule did look
No vai set anymore sadge :( But we get the cece hat, frostbite shirt and several bits of legwear that just look like undergarments so femboy link isn't gone yet :)
Ive gotten 300+ hours in totk at this point, never having reaching that point in botw, so its great to see these comparisons and immediately recognizing some parts from totk and not botw. I really thank you for making these and feeding my addiction LMAO
Definitely! The game is enormous compared to botw. Triple layer map and way more stuff to do. This series is only covering the surface layer, but there's also the sky and depths below now. Probably bc botw had to be able to run on the wii u and totk is a Switch exclusive, so more power to work with
I'm BOTW, that long strip where the Yiga hideout is was probably done that way so you'd be able to see the objective. Desert tower was easier to find than highlands tower, so Devs didn't want a gerudo quest mission that was off in a dark portion of the map. That's my guess, at least
I plan to do a more thorough comparison of each town once i finish the regional comparisons. There's too much to talk about. I'll definitely include this bit of info in that video. Thanks!
Really? In American English you never hear ppl call glasses spectacles anymore, although the word is still used to refer to visually striking things, as in "making a big spectacle". I was wondering about British English when I wrote that though.
Not looking it up, but I’d guess it’s old fashioned, not Old English. Old English is essentially an entirely different language from what we speak now.
I was super let down yeah, that and every temple getting the same copy paste cutscene...never seen so little done with so much for no other reason than...meh, f story. But thats Miyamoto's fault.@@TheZeldaEnthusiast

That makes sense, bc geographicly I could never understand it lol. Thanks!
Also maybe because they are rivals with the Gerudo
Riju's room in ToTK now has adorable Sand Seal plushies you can fuse to your shield. That's the only thing you missed, I think. Nice job!

Thanks so much! I 100% agree. And your English is great. I would have assumed you were a native speaker if you didn't mention it.
As a fellow non-native, have more confidence. You write well.

It's because The yiga hideout is necessary and if the towers are not your priority, then you can still see where you are exactly on the map.
