Let’s take a moment and appreciate John Brenner’s poetry, he’s a maestro at writing and not only writing some of the most beautiful riffs.
    LYRICS:
    In the darkness of night
    The silence slowly takes form
    The black velvet of loneliness
Stealthily moves to envelope my mind
And I relive morbid scenes of my life's tragedies
The icy touch of regretful woes
The spectre that is past grips my heart
    Inflicting torture and deadly hindsight
    Demanding correction of my wrongs
I walk back in time on the path of despair
The memories seem so painfully real
Ever shackled thus to my present days
I reside in the shadow of depression
In the churning maelstrom of emotion
The spectre bears me along unrelentingly...

One of the best epic doom records ever recorded in my opinion! Wino and Dale Flood led the way and John followed and took it to the next level!

This turned into Against Nature right? It's heavy and groovy at the same time.

oh yes, undeniable. he's said as much. patrick even lifted the sledgehammer riffs in this very song for later use in 40 watt sun, it's unmistakable.

The greatest doom metal album of all time im my book . Yes i said it.
I remember in 1991 hearing the advance from Terry in Penance and was floored how to me that this album is the pure definition of doom in its purest form of life .

jayodoom, i like that you give a nod to this guitar solo.
so much emotion welling up inside john's fingers, here.
legit, personal expression. not technique aimed at impress.

He's a great player. My secret weapon influence. Ever hear the original solo on little faith, the "illusion of progress" version? It's even better if that's possible. He plays w a lot of soul.

i wanna vote for some kind of superdoom project aimed at duplicating (only better) place of skulls-type approach. think vic and wino but instead have john and kelly c. from internal void.
think about the trade-offs, the possibilities.
i think those two could really create some ultra-doom rock, complete with unheralded hooks.. and stripper.. john's

This guitar solo makes me think of sorrowful hallucinations I had when I was tiny. Not trendy.
