The FBI is concerned about keeping their own corruption and deception from getting out to the public. It has now become a matter of “national security” to keep Americans away from the real truth and in the dark. Therefore, anyone who cares about the truth are deemed as “terrorists” -even if they don’t even own any weapons and are totally non-violent.

It’s not that most Americans don’t care about a potential threat. We do. But, if our government is going to decimate millions of American businesses and marketing outlets for authors and artists, then we deserve definitive proof. The director seems very convinced but, should we just take his word for it? This has not always gone well in the past. I don’t like it but data collection and algorithms are standard practice in social media apps. When you say the parent company is beholden to the Chinese government, there begins the speculation and you say that because of the ownership chain they ‘could potentially’ or ‘might be’ and therefore ‘must be’ giving data to the Chinese government or using it to manipulate Americans. All this without offering us tangible proof of such activity. From our perspective, you are recommending action based on speculation and have congress so rattled they are sliding this right through. We want to believe and trust you but at a time when we are all struggling to find a way to make a living in an ever changing world, losing access to this app will be a gut punch to many of us. If this is real, show us.
Well, don't forget the FBI did sucessfully verify that a garage pull on a garage at NASCAR race was indeed a garage pull. So, they can do that pretty good. The FBI is good at identifying garage pulls.
You're too smart to play that game of show us. You know that if the Chinese gov. tells bytedance to tweak their algorithm to push an agenda for the chinese gov. they will do it. Unless you have been living under a rock you know that chinese businessmen routinely disappear when they don't do the government's bidding. Only to reappear months later with a new improved attitude. As far as killing millions of businesses all tictok has to do is sell and it won't be banned. Don't be so self serving and look at the big picture. The Chinese gov. is behind blatant hacking of US businesses and constant corporation espionage and everyone knows it so don't pretend like they won't use tiktok against us. You aren't that naive.

We have approximately 3.7 million teachers in the United States.
If we armed 10% that would be 370,000 gun safes that would need to be bought and installed, they would need to be decent safes. So let's say 2000 installed . Then the Teacher would need a decent gun, training , ammunition to practice with , money for permits , maintaine on the gun , the teachers time... nights at the gun range .
How does that fit into the Budget .

Actually what's the issue here? Just classify your data into different categories (public info, restricted, classified, secret, top secret etcs..) sensitive information definitely don't put in tik tok and you will be fine. The rest are open data

Social media access should be reciprocal. We'll permit TikTok, if China permits Fb (etc.).
Thats a myth.
China did not ban FB or Google. There was a set of Chinese laws and FB / Google refused to comply so they left China. Microsoft / Bing complied and stayed on.
On the other hand, Tik Tok compiled with all US laws and regulations, but the US law makers created new pathways to ban them.
Note the differences (something Western media will never talk about).

Yes, the government should decide what is bad for us and ban it. Americans should be only allowed to use government approved apps and media.
We need more transparency. What is the ability of the US based apps to do similar things as what Tiktok is accused of. What stops our government from misusing the social media to influence us in a way that is inconsistent with reality ?
