The quote at the beginning and the basic plot at the hotel are from Midsummer Night's Dream. However, the love potion bit was pared down a bit for the show as in the original the obsessions were swapped around a couple times before the end. The Diana story line is borrowed from The Ransom of Redchief (complete with the father knowing that by the end the kidnapper will do anything for him to take the kid back).

The title of this video pretty much sums it up - this is the best episode. I LOVE Renard's reaction to Diana's kidnapping and I love Diana toying with her kidnapper. For me, that sub-plot is better than all the love-switching in the main plot (not that that wasn't great, too).

This episode was a perfect gift for us fans, in Grimm’s final season, before the “stuff that’s going to happen” happens 😜 Hank’s “love affair” was my favorite. Nick looked like the actor couldn’t keep a straight face and I wonder how many takes these scenes needed to get the final cut. When has Renard ever been a typical parent? All he thinks is, Diana is more powerful than him so she’ll be perfectly fine. Still funny as hell though.
I really like this episode, from the fake telenovela style wesen problem, to diana "fun time", to the introduction of the big bad of the last season. Everything in the episode was great.
I was waiting for this one. It’s an awesome episode. There must be some out takes from this one. I think Renard did the right thing by letting Diana deal with the kidnapper. It’s great to see a parent trust their kid to handle themselves. No helicopter parenting in this one - finally

the first time i watching this episode i was laughing my self dry with tears XD and so was second time and third and well you guessed it i rewatched this show 6 times at least XD love this episode XD
Honestly, Monroe and Rosalee (btw a beautiful, beautiful name!!) is the most un-toxic couple I've seen on tv history! And Vincenzo and Chayoung from the Kdrama 'Vincenzo' as well
This is one of my favorite episodes, even the terrible CGI when the guy falls makes me laugh. I did wonder if they did it on purpose but that's unlikely, still it looks so ridiculous that it manages to add to my enjoyment rather than taking away from it, mostly. And, yes, Renard should've been looking for Diana but as her father & a half Zauberbiest I suppose he knows just how powerful she is, he was certainly worried & racing out when he realized, before he stopped. The cast of Grimm really seemed to love working together, and their enjoyment in this episode felt very real, acting aside. Hope you're having a great week Dakara! Is that a Stargate jersey btw? I remember there was a Dakara weapon or object in Stargate SG-1.

Hello from the U.S. East Coast, where we have an Excessive Heat Warning.
Renard's reaction was a little off, I think it's easy to fix though, just have him frantic until he gets the call and then have Diana say she's fine & she's going to play now (followed by the man screaming)... Other than that it's just a fun/silly episode, the only thing they really introduced was Renard to the symbols & the appearance of skull-face in the mirror.

I looked to see why the fall CGI was so bad and I only found one person who didn't like the The Faces of the Wessen for the show but did like all the other CGI. I think he is ass-backward.
