I honestly wasn't gonna go to this in the cinema but then a bunch of my friends watched it and said it was absolutely incredible so I decided to go after all. WHAT a movie. It's been a while since I've seen a movie with such compelling cast, action and storylines. I really really enjoyed it. The relationship between Maverick and Rooster and him as an (absent) father figure was really well done and I wanted to pay tribute to it in this video.

I love how Rooster's "talk to me, dad" is answered by Mav. Crying
I understand if they don't make a third film, Maverick was wrapped up in a nice bow, but I really want to see more centered around these two. Their relationship is the core of the franchise, and it's just so touching.

I couldn't agree more. They developed the relationship really well. There weren't any new flashbacks, but you get a sense that Mav was there for Carol and Bradley while Bradley grew up, and that their relationship only fell apart after Rooster applied to join the naval academy.
You get the feeling not just because of the photographs in the beginning, but through the dialogue and the acting. They did a good job.
Just remembered and watched a clip of the scene from TG about Mav's dad and that Mav didn't get into the academy at first because "he was Duke Mitchell's kid" (photos used in TG are also on his photo wall at the beginning of TG:M).
And there are a few other set ups as well, just like Mav's story in TG about his dad. For example the backstory of Rooster and Phoenix' relationship would be interesting. How did they become friends? Same goes for the conflict with Hangman. Same class? Previous mission?
@@CliohnaYessss would love backstory into the tension/chemistry between rooster and hangman. It seemed to me like they were exes that hate each other the entire film
@@tessskyeI definitely didn’t get exes vibe (not sure why/how you would), they just seemed like two guys that weren’t really friends because they’re quite different (and that is ok) but were also the two most likely to be picked for team leader (hence the added tension). But Hangman/Phoenix actually had more tension - the full script contained more scenes between those two but had to be cut back for the final film.
Totally agree. I don’t want them to do another film because I think Maverick’s story came full circle and I don’t want them to ruin it (and TG is Maverick’s story). But agree I wanted to see more of these two - their relationship was the core of the film (as you said).

The music is so beautiful
This is lovely. This dynamic is what made the movie worthwhile. It gave it heart. That picture of them on the sacred “Goose wall” at the end was the perfect emphasis. The actors really sold that bond without it going overboard. The bond was obvious. This is my favorite Maverick video.

This movie was so much better than it deserved to be and this is why. The emotional core of the story was so good. It wasn't just the action scenes or the plot, it was the respect given to the characters and their stories.

Very nicely put together. This edit brought the feeling of the entire movie back into focus.... if it ever was out of focus. Two minutes of video clips shows just how amazing this movie really is and it only shows one aspect of the relationships in this movie. Maverick and Rooster, Maverick and Goose, Maverick and Iceman, Maverick and Penny, Maverick and Authority and finally the relationships between each and every one of the top gun pilots. We haven't seen a movie so well put together since the Gen Z'ers were born.
As a Gen-Z kid, I agree. I wish I could have vesn alive for the time when cinema was all about a good story.
