James was definitely the most outgoing and calm in this interview. It might be because the rest of them are shy, or maybe less experienced- I don't really know... It didn't seem like they even listened to the questions, even though they were quite complicated and interesting

Yeah, Build Series' interviewers are very hit or miss. The only one that's actually good is the white guy with glasses (they never list his name--so apologies for the rough description).

No he's actually kinda boring. I've seen many interviews when he's more energized (which btw isn't much) but he just doesn't make anything sound exciting. He's got so much material with everything he does but he makes it seem bland. Shame.

Damn this host sucks! I don't think she remembers all the guests' name! That's so rude and unprofessional. She should cue the casts to speak by mouth but not some funny eye contact!! Not everyone of them is experienced like James or has the wit as Alex. I'd love to hear the young actors talk more about their characters, it should be fun if a PROPER host could open them up.

They cut all her scenes, lol. Not her fault. I was kinda mad at that, they cut the whole mall scene where she played a prominent role.

I agree. I mean I like her character and it's not her fault but like the actor who plays Kurt should be in so many interviews instead of her because he had a lot more roles in the movie than her.

Is it weird that I like those few patches of grey hair that James have? I think it just adds to his feature and really helps shows off just how handsome he is. Although it dose make me wonder if he has grey hair because of stress or if it's hereditary.
There are outliers, but a lot of folks start graying in their late 30s and early 40s.
It doesn't make any sense to make that kind of questions "what was your favorite part/scene?" IF THE AUDIENCE HASN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET! that's why my poor baby james did the mistake of telling an important scene of the movie.

There's a rumor that there will be a "X-Men: Apocalypse Jubilee cut." And I'm really hoping that its true, cause I feel like they wasted her in the movie... they didn't even showed her powers :(((((((
It's not gonna be like a Jubilee cut, like the Rogue cut of Days of Future Past which included plenty of scenes with Anna Paquin, But for sure we'll get to see the scene in which she uses her powers! Anyway, I think everyone loved her on this interviews and I hope they will give her more participation in future films

This is the most awkward interview I've watched. That woman needs a reality check.

They drastically changed Storms back story, cause she was never a street rat in Cairo , she was a part of an African tribe, and when she got her powers she became the leader and was seen as a goddess.
So the only thing the movie got right was when Apocalypse says "Your a Goddess".
I understand that they need to link the story somehow, but storm was not a good way of doing it, as it completely changes her back story.
You do have to remember that a lot of characters have multiple origin stories. I for example know the story of Xavier meeting Storm in Cairo after she tried to pickpocket him so from that one alone her origin in Apocalypse is not entirely wrong.
Wade Morales I see where your coming from, but wasn't Xavier also one of the 4 horsemen? I always thought it was; Magneto, Xavier, Storm and Mystique. But there was another variation where Angel was made into one of the 4 horsemen.
But as James said, they don't want to do what has already been done, so maybe the writers are taking it in a different direction
+Derek Millar Apocalypse has enslaved many. Gambit was once a Horsemen too as was Wolverine. They even said they were originally going to make Xavier a Horsemen which was why he was taken in the first place but they changed their mind at some point.
No, she was a street rat in Cairo, the stuff with the African tribes comes later on in her origin. She doesn't actually meet the X-men until she's a full grown adult. So obviously, the movie didn't have time to got through all of that. Apocalypse calling her a "goddess" was just a subtle reference to the part of Storm's original backstory that they couldn't show in the movie.

lordy i didn't even know rogue was ever supposed to be in DOFP (i didn't pay attention to the promo back then). that's such a shame i'd have loved her to be in it - the original character is one of my faves. even the watered down movie version is still awesome, just more manageable.
and yeah i know jubilee had a scene that was cut - which is clearly playing on lana's mind, especially when asked the "what's your favourite/most challenging scene" question....you can literally see her thinking "um, well apparently i'm not actually in this fucking movie, soooooo..." - but the end result is just ridiculous.
i do love alex as storm so far though, and think she has a lot of promise. sophie impressed me as jean grey too - though i'm biased as i also love jean and anything phoenix related was always going to give me chills!!! XD - but fuck me they just need to sack jen lawrence already. she blatently doesn't want to be there and couldn't give any shits about her performance, so let her just fuck off then. she can be as disinterested as she likes on her own time. i don't need that in one of my favourite movie franchises, playing one of the most iconic characters. rebecca romijn she ain't.
divide her screentime amongst all the other women and the movie would drastically improve.

i don't think they can lose charles and eric tbh - and nor should they want to. certainly not charles for sure!!! he is the absolute core heart and soul of the x-men franchise. he's the emotional resonance. he humanises everything and makes the stakes relatable. and as james says in the video above, his relationship with eric (and chemistry) is a massive part of that, and deeply symbolic of the warring, yet necessary, yin and yang elements of humanity. it's both the strife and the love between them which has always been one of the strongest throughlines of the movies. a balance between them is representative of a balance in human nature.
the symbolism in x-men has always been one of my favourite things about it, and it's that that sets it apart from standard comic fare. i wish they would take a step away from the big destructive apocalyptic stuff and remember that this series was a metaphor for fascism; racism, sexism, homophobia etc etc. threading through the very real human aspects will always be more compelling that another cgi greenscreen.
also, mcavoy and fassbender are by far their best actors and actually give a fuck about their characters, so their work is still outstanding. magneto as a villain is a difficult thing to repeat all the time, so i'd rather go the opposite route just for one movie and bring him back into the fold alongside charles, or at least as an anti-hero more than villain - an uneasy alliance where he helps do the right thing, even if it is for his own selfish, nefarious reasons.
hugh jackman's been great but i feel his time is done and they have no idea what to do with wolverine tbh. i think he's been overused to a huge degree actually - a half hour long segment where the movie detours completely for literally no reason at all other than to squeeze in a completely 100% pointless cameo from him isn't my idea of good writing, and i find that detracts more than it adds. wolverine's awesome when used correctly.....but at least he's officially stepping away now anyway.
like i said before - sack lawrence. she's the only person in these movies who i feel is legitimately shit. even the young newbie actors with no experience and less material to work with infuse more into their roles than she does. she does not want to be there and is clock watching the whole way through to fulfil contractual requirements and pick up her paycheck. i HATE that. get rid. mystique's not even necessary at this point anyway the character's now been bastardised so much, so losing her would be no loss at all. and hell, even if they wanted to keep mystique - she's a fucking shape shifter!!! just say her previous form was "too recognisable" and recast it with an actress who actually wants the damn job! and make her a secondary character.
(as a side note, even though jen's screaming to the rooftops that her, james and michael made a pact together that they would only return if they ALL returned [which sort of feels like a strategic move on her part, and throws them under the bus a little in the process], mcavoy's already linked to the new upcoming gen x stuff, and he's been very open about how much he loves charles and would absolutely return so long as the character still felt fresh to him - which he's also made a point of saying it does......i think he's totally on board to do it. michael also seems to genuinely love it, and also loves working with his best friend (james), though for him it might depend on whether it clashed with something else he wanted to do. jen wants the money though and that's it, so if she's holding out for a bigger check, throwing the core duo's names in there as a hostage situation helps her case greatly)
it will be interesting to see how they handle gambit. jubilee was so mishandled but he's getting a whole movie to himself....i wonder if this interpretation of the character will be strong enough to carry that, even with channing tatum.
There's only so many characters they can really throw in there and have an audience be able to follow and appreciate. I do think they film a whole bunch, see what works to make the movie cohesive and contained within the 2 hour time block, and then run with it. I heard about the "rogue cut" - haven't seen it yet...might even be really good, but I can see why they elected to delete it. with comics, they have a LOT off leeway to add to the series and be able to develop more characters. Personally, I'd love to see more focus on Rogue bc she's my favorite xman from the comics.
Aw, I thought they did a good job. I wasn't a fan of a lot of how the story went in the comics, but the premise was very good. The nice thing is everyone is at liberty to have their own creative license. Perhaps, at some point, a new movie will be made that ties in a storyline more consistent with the comics - perhaps one where Scott is the Xmen leader. Time will only tell. But I've enjoyed a good number - not all - of the movies.
