  • Recently, I was asked to do a video on forging scrolls so here you go! in this video I go through the basic technique I use to forge scrolls (influenced by Bill Carter) to forge three different scrolls: ribbon, roll up and whiplash.
I am by no means an expert but I hope this helps if you have been struggling!

This was excellent, old numpties like me need to watch this multiple times to take in all that you're doing especially the hammer skills. Please put some more up, we need you.

Oscar - I have been going about tapering flat bar all wrong - fighting to keep parallels while reducing the flats! You’ve shown me a cleaner and better way: create the taper on edge first THEN flatten. Voila! A beautiful ribbon taper ready to be the heart of the scroll! Awesome! Thanks!

Nice to see good hammer control and lighter hammers. Everyone on RUclips seems to bash around with monster rounding hammers.
    Nice video. Thanks

You don’t always need a heavy hammer! Control is more important.
