Radiographic positioning included in this video are the anteroposterior (AP) supine and upright abdomen. *Discuss radiographic techniques using anatomic and projection terminology for the anteroposterior (AP) supine and upright abdomen. *Apply patient positioning techniques for common abdomen radiographs. *List and identify the central ray location, image receptor (IR) size, marker placement, and image receptor placement. *Explain radiographic equipment manipulation for required radiographic examinations. *Describe procedural considerations for required radiographic examinations. *Discuss the relevance of pathology in radiographic procedures. *Explain the rationale for each projection. *Describe the positioning used to visualize anatomic structures.

    Never guess the collimation. Never use centring points. Use accurate collimation so the light from the collimator can be your guide. All you need is symphysis pubis on the bottom of the radiograph so you use judgement to ensure it is there. This will prevent men from getting a primary beam dose to the gonads. The example shown includes the whole pelvis which is never a requirement for an abdominal xray unless it is for a bone survey, but would be a primary beam dose to a mans gonads.
    In the AP erect positioning, why include 2/3rds of the chest in the primary beam? Collimation is open to the level of the arm pits rather than to the diaphragm. I would be inclined to include all of the abdomen from symphysis pubis up because that will show the diaphragms anyway. For the erect, see if you can use 110kV and drop the mAs to a very low level. This reduces dose while highlighting gas levels and constipation, particularly on obese patients.

    Why is the radiograph taken in Expiration & not Inspiration?

      In inspiration we not take x ray because when we take inspiration then in xray it show black hence we cant see clearly xray

      I don't think so. Inspiration helps bringing left kidney in the ROI.

    Ap abdomen and kub ap same?

      KUB you can collimate inside the skin edge. For repeats as with followthrough and IVPs further lateral collimation to the edge of the kidneys is possible.
