Natsuki Chronicles is a side scrolling shooter that was just released exclusively for the Xbox One on Christmas day. It was developed by Qute, who you may know for Eschatos, Ginga Force, Judgment Silversword, and Cardinal Sins. You can see lots of influences in Natsuki Chronicles from other classic shooters, like Darius, R-Type, Border Down and so on, and it all comes together to make a great game. If you like the genre and have an Xbone, then I definitely recommend buying it. Don't worry if this looks hard, there are two difficulties below this that are easy to get into.
This is my first clear of Hard mode. There are lots of mistakes all over the place, but the strategies are good enough to beat the game with. I'm getting an Xbox One X and a new capture card next week, so maybe I can upload a higher scoring video that'll look much nicer. I'm interested in seeing the difference in quality.

My first fav schmup, Escatos is also awesome and am gonna get Ginga Force so I've got the Qute trilogy. Great 1cc.

I’m close to getting the platinum trophy in the game, but I have one problem. I can get passed the 2nd training stage on hard as I always die near the end. Sure I can do it well mostly, but I die towards the last wave. Any solutions?

Maybe it's just me but I feel like there's something really off about this game. Like, it looks very fun and looks nice too but in terms of presentation and how long it took to make, it feels like Ginga Force would've been the game that would've been stuck in development hell for years because of the voice acting, over-the-top animations and bosses, neat shop system and other fun additions instead of Natsuki Chronicles that quite frankly looks more simplistic by comparison.
Either way, I'm still glad it's finally out after so many years.

i think that most shmups devs lately have to earn money by doing different jobs (contract work for other games or even business outside of games), so it's hard to judge how long it actually took if they didn't have opton to work fulltime on it.

You're looking at an alternate mode, Arcade Mode. The Story Mode has voice acting and the shop. Story Mode works a lot like Ginga Force's Story Mode, but with some tweaks.
