sure the storyline for this episode is referencing flowers for algernon’s basic premise (an intellectually disabled person gains temporary intelligence before reverting back)
but OP was explaining that george’s newfound intelligence was the sole reason he failed to remain abstinent (he calculated the mathematical improbability of having another opportunity to sleep with an attractive portuguese woman) ..thus the cruel irony

Jason Alexander is really showreeling his depth here. He is a completely different typecast once he stops having sex. His willingness to go all out no matter which direction they moved George is what made the show imho. Well, that and the immense gallery of stunning supporting cast over the years. Perfect show.
A lot of people say Elaine is the best in the show but George, Kramer, and Jerry did bring their own flair to the show that's what made it so good, everyone being their own allstar with what they did. Nobody was forgettable.

iirc, the only episode without George was 'The Pen', and not coincidentally the weakest in the show's history.

They did get it right... abstinence will make you smarter, but the point is you can't obsess over it. The point of abstaining is freeing your mind from the distraction of constantly obsessing over it.

This is one of the best episode of the entires series.
i've just started watching the series recently, and it's very strange to see these clips from later seasons; George was a fairly intelligent guy in the first/second seasons, now he comes off as an idiot basically. He was also slimmer, almost kinda handsome. Kramer also seems a bit different. But anyway, I absolutely love the series so far (will finish the second season soon), it's just interesting to catch glimpses of how the characters (d)evolved.
This is true and inevitable for any long running series.

This might have been my favorite episode
While a lot of the content is dated. Seinfeld's social talking points are always going to be relevant, making it the best sitcom ever. I don't know anyone who still watches Cheers, although that is a great show. For Friends, people love it, but it's clearly a 90's-00's show and will likely have a similar following to Cheers. Ultimately, Seinfeld will stand the test of time.
