  • In terms of art and culture Riga was one of the most important cities in the USSR, second only to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Its architectonical beauty and originality are undeniable. Admiring the stunning Art Nouveau buildings in the center of the city is an experience everyone should do.
    Half of Riga's population is ethnical Russian and the times couldn't be more complex for such a divided city. The importance of Riga is huge in the European chessboard. People know it and the worries of becoming part of Putin's expansionist plans are growing.

    Russophobia 💞

  • @ervinvonhimmel
    @ervinvonhimmel 3 месяца назад +1

    That is funny :) Well, you make me comment on this. Latvia has no russophobia or others, Latvia has a very strong response to people who want to robe, rape and behave like this in general. Is it clear? If these people are russians, they got it.
    Also, you quite misunderstand the term "russian", it's like everyone speaking Spanish in South America is Spanish :) A LOT of ethnic minorities had to speak russian during the occupation times in Latvia, so now we have a lot of russian speakers, me including ;)

    couple of things.. my understanding is that Buenos Aires is the "Art Nouveau capital of the world".. i mean Riga is just a big village.. second, a more pertinent question that should have asked (to reveal their russophobia).. why is the Russian language not an official language in Estonia after all more then 25 % of its population are ethnic russians. All countries in Europe that has a multi ethnic population, have their language recognized and enshrined in their constitution such as Switzerland, Belgium, spain etc etc.

      As much as I love Buenos Aires, Riga is unbeatable in terms of Art Nouveau. Can be because it's all concentrated in a smaller area, so you get overwhelmed by it.
      About the Russian language topic, obviously Latvian government wanted to cut all ties with the Soviet past and the relative Russian domination on the country. What I show in the video is way lighter than what I personally heard in private situations about the level of resentment Latvian have towards Russian.

      @@DannyRossellini thx for responding.. btw i was chocked when you said that you were from Argentina.. I am Argentine myself but grew up in Malmo sweden and 25 years ago moved to Tampa, FL. in regards to the russophobia again.. i seriously doubt they should rely on NATO.. this is more or less a security blanket.. American mother will not want their kids to die for a country they didn't even know existed... As for their "European allies" well they have their chance to shine in ukraine now.. to show some "testicular fortitude" so to say..

      @@leonardoorellano6652riga is more like a medium sized city, not too long ago it has a population of over 900.000 people so basically what you see today is a city made to support one million. Small compact city would be around 100.000 or less. Buenos Aires is a big city but not mega or massive like Tokyo or Jakarta

    Ask them whether, in order to 'de-Russify', whether they would destroy all the Art Nouveau buildings that were built under the Russian Empire. Or pull up any map made before 1850 or so and ask them to point out 'Latvia'.

      Also, how many Russian speakers they're willing to kill. I am sure soon the baltics will be celebrating the nazis as just people who wanted to spread the love for the German language. The Russians should take back the Baltics.
