I am in love with LeAnn she was the very first concert I seen live and every single chance I get to this day I see LeAnn as she dazzles and does it so effortless.

I’m her biggest fan. I’ve been obsessed with her since I was 14. I just saw her this past Christmas for the 23rd time. So the part in this video where you think she’s laughing, that’s her trying not to cry.
LeAnn has been my favorite singer since I was 5 in 1996, still love her! I love seeing others as enthusiastic about her as I was growing up.
Bobbie Gentry wrote this and did the first version of this song in 1969. I'm a Reba and LeAnn fan too!

You need to hear her sing BLUE. It's a song Bill Mack originally wrote for Patsy Cline. If I remember correctly, Patsy died before she could sing the song, and when Bill heard LeAnn sing, he offered it to her. She was 14yrs old at the time, I think. She yodels a lot with BLUE.
I saw this concert live during 2020 when she did it. She was trying not to cry during it because this song makes her emotional. That's why she said, "Sex, sex, sex" so she could stop herself from crying.

Hi Britt, LeAnn was a judge on the show Meet Your Maker Showdown. My daughter was on the show and ended up winning the top prize for one of the pieces she made. And LeAnn has one of the pieces that my daughter made on the show. Take care and God Bless you and your family.
An impeccable performance! A very difficult performance! As for the situation, it is easy to judge. I think it depends a lot on what you believe is possible to accomplish. I think I was raised with more hope in life than the woman in the song. I wouldn't want to judge someone like that because I have never had to be where they are.

LaAnn Rimes is an amazing singer whose career was torpedoed by the "morality police" when she had a very public affair with Eddie Cibrian. They were both married to other people at the time and it was ridiculous the way people behaved, She and Eddie have been married since 2011 for crying out loud!

I love (and I mean LOVE!) that she had the laughing breaks. It shows this truly is just her performing in a casual setting. I agree, LeAnn Rimes is one of the best singers of all time.
The mother in story sent her daughter out for a life of prostitution. (You probably didn't mean the double entendre when you said "she tricked her daughter." (Or maybe you did??)) I guess we'd have to consider the time when the story was taking place. Now? There really would be no excuse. But I suppose in the 50's, things would have been quite different.

Okay I wrote a paper on this very song, and while most would say it is terrible and horrible for a Mother to send her daughter into prostitution. However, this song is set is the Depression era , in New Orleans as they set the scene in the beginning. Her mama knows that there is no out for her as she is middle aged , and frail, so to make sure her most prized treasure does not fall in the same rut she sends her on a path that will ensure she have a chance to make something of herself. I think it was very courageous of her mama, as she loved Fancy enough to risk never seeing her again to ensure she make it in life. I also think she planned it carefully, as she didn't just send her with any ole man, when that car pulled up in the music video that man had means , and was a clear way for Fancy to make it out of poverty. So while the act itself was yes terrible, her mama is the reason she got the town house and ritzy homes, and was able to open that home for runaway girls. So she set her daughter up. Plus she gave her a out also, she said if you want out so be it, but I made this path for you. So no I do not in realms blame her Mama .
I think her momma did the best she could at the time. As far as the housewife thing…I was an avid watcher of the show (WAS) and yes, Leann and Eddie may not have handled things the right way but Brandy was not good for Eddie. Leann has been very good for Eddie and Eddie has been very good for Leann. I wish them the very best! She is a phenomenal singer!!

Fancy wouldn't have even gone into the system as she was 18, which her mama knew would probably mean she'd just end up on the streets struggling and subjected to the same poverty she was. So she did the only thing she could think of to possibly set her up for a better future, even if people looked down on the method.

Actually, it was LeAnn and Eddie Cibrian who had the affair but have now been happily married for many years. Sadly, there was fallout against LeAnn within the music industry but she’s a survivor and she’s come back stronger than ever.

I think her mom was doing the best thing she could for so she could have a good life because in life we we can’t always control what we’re handed and sometimes there’s no easy handling of it. You have to do what you really don’t wanna do just to get through that to make it better later And some people may give you a hard time for having to do certain things and there’s a lot of young women that have to do certain things just so they can provide and do for their self and their children if they when they have children and some people hold it against them, and I think it’s totally unfair
Interesting contrast between her voice and Auntie Reba's. I feel like Reba might have more raw POWER, but LeAnn Rimes puts her own magic on it. As to the story - sometimes there are no good options. It's not my RIGHT to judge, God knows the momma's heart, and Fancy's. I don't, so all I can do is try to understand.

As far as the content of the song......Its tough, if she had no family to help raise her after her passing there wasnt really an option in those times. Its the worlds oldest profession.
She really did cheat on her husband with the man she is now married too. But she d owes have a wonderful set of pipes . She and Carrie Underwood were both blessed by God with a great talent for singing . I think she is at the same level as Carrie .

In the theoretically situation, i see it as the girl was likely going to end up in a far worse situation, had her mother NOT set her on that path, probably doing the same thing, but in a much lower class of clientel. Do think thIs should ever be allowed to happen? NO, and with all the crap we have now, it's still better than prostituting yourself out. However, when this was set, there really wasn't a better option in the place & time where this was set...

I’m not a country music fan so the details have escaped me but LeAnn was definitely wrong, along with Eddie Cibrian for that whole mess. I believe the whole thing basically torpedoed her career. LeAnn was very prominent artist at one time and then she kind of just disappeared. She was kind of like blacklisted I guess? But really the whole thing has nothing to do with her outstanding talent. Can’t be denied.
Although she did well and I like Leane who is very talented, I just find Reba’s version better.
