I've played most of these. However, HELL LET LOOSE is probably my favorite (followed by ARMA 3 and SQUAD). Hell Let Loose simply has a good balance of realism, strategy and squad reliance on weapons, vehicles and modes that are fairly easy to learn.

I think it leans a little too heavily on the realism. I feel like there should be at least a kill log/kill sound and other quality of life improvements like shorter spawn times, smaller maps, shorter games etc. Not everyone(including myself) has the time to play 90 minute matches. It especially sucks when a vast majority of the match im running around just to get headshot and then I have to wait 35 seconds to spawn. And its even worse if my teammates aren't placing garrisons and I spawn at HQ. I personally think they need to add a causal mode and realism mode or even a co op mode.
thats true cod is more of an arcade shooter than a military game theres so much stuff in that game that wouldn’t be in the military like customising your weapon into a no scope sniper adding colourful camos and having a soldier with a ghost mask and the fact that an ar 15 needs to shoot someone with over 6 bullets to actually kill the person is insane
It should have honorable mentions: - Medal of Honor Allied Assault: MOHAA was the start of epic war games and it was absolutely amazing back then; - Battlefield 1942: Equally an oldie like the previously one, this brought an amazing option, a true battlefield were you could drive anything, even Aircraft Carriers; - Call of Duty 1: Amazing This three games bloomed in all war games we have today.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but Easy Red 2 is a fantastic game. Great dev support, has a lot of historical battles from WW2 and they've just recently released the invasion of normandy in a DLC. It's really cheap and plays a lot like the old star wars battlefront games. Just a simple warzone to have a lot of fun in. Plus there is a lot of mod support, and a lot of people create their own maps like Guadalcanal and Okinawa etc.
All I and many just want is a good solid Single Player Campaign. Most adults aren't interested in Multiplayer online. Seems to be a desert nowadays for good WW2 games.
Hell let loose is No 1 because: completely an open game. no one holds your hand and you have to forge your own happiness. minimal icons etc. on the screen and fantastic sound, often accompanied by the communication of desperate teams playing in the background. balanced sides, where outcomes are never given. the atmosphere is as if hand-picked from a basket consisting of beloved games and films, such as Band of Brothers, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty. maps are based on real locations, from real events. So that, as a subordinate, one is at the mercy of one's commander to make the right decisions. The majority of servers are open to all, friendly and large fan base.
Tannenberg is my fav. Because of intense competition and the fact that victory can not be predicted until very end your team can turn the tides and win. Also in Tannenberg really good timing, playing match you know that you spends no more than 30 minutes in a game unlike other games where you can be lost for hours.

I really like and still recommend WW1 Isonzo even after witnessing all of it's bugs at around 150 hrs of gameplay. Falling through the map floor, people's mics coming through in triplicate on occasion, etc etc. Recently considered giving HLL a try but I hear a lot of bad things about it performance wise and server connection wise that I'm on the fence about it. What Isonzo has that some don't is a single player mode and that alone gives it shelf life.
