Henry, you found the “Valentine’s shot”…. At the “heart lake” of course….Congratulations!
Henry, I have been watching you for about 2 years. I found your channel shortly after I started one, myself. I was so taken in with what you were doing because it was similar to my idea - to take people along with me as I find inspiration for my pastel paintings. You have done so well. I often watch and wonder just how the mindset of a photographer differs from that of a painter. Every now and then you remark that your photo looks like a painting, and painters are often trying to get their paintings to look photographic. When you are sizing up the landscape, and talking about what you are looking for, I can relate. Sometimes, I marvel at your ability to just focus on one or two images. I tend to see too much at times, and can come home with far too many shots. In this video, you seemed to be trying to look for more images. I also am noticing something new in your videos. It seems that you are making the video, itself, a work of art. With your drone shots, and maybe more close ups and other cinematic elements, you are creating some very beautiful video moments. I wish that I could have a chat with you someday, to just compare notes between a photographer and a pastel artist. I appreciate what you do, and I know full well how much time you put into each video, since I do that, too. I have not been a prolific as you, however. It amazes me that you can create one a week. You are working so very hard. Oh, one more thing…I do so appreciate that I never have to be shocked by your language. Your language is so gentle and not crude - no foul language. That is rare these days, but I really think it makes for a super comfortable and enjoyable experience. Thank you for all you do! Debbie
Thanks so much Debbie
The dramatic voiceover and cinematic reveal has me riveted and I’m just one minute in.
Haha thanks mate!!
Henry, mate I’ve watched every RUclips video of yours but you have just stepped up the mark, really great video, so impressed with your presentation, it just flowed and fell into place, no rave ons just a great video, 10 points my friend, please keep up that style of presentation . All your followers must also be impressed. Regards Allan B.
This leaf photo is sublime, capturing nature in all its wonderful tones.Your right Henry best we open our eyes wide and see what’s really there for us as photographers 👍
The record scratch when you show an animal never fails to get a chuckle out of me.
Hi Henry, at last you have remembered to turn left at Dumfries, most visitors to Scotland don't. I was fortunate before I retired I used to work in Scotland for six weeks every year, two of them in Dumfries, my work took me from Dumfries all the way to the coast, unfortunately in my pre-digital photography days.
Thank you for your great posts. You will be 500k before long!
I like D&G so much I moved here 11 years ago. 🏴 . Thank you. All the best. 👍📷😎
Nice, thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of Scotland. Cheers from the Netherlands, Bart
Another great vlog, with some awesome shots....well done Henry..👍
Goes somewhere epic and photographs a pile of leaves 😂 this is exactly something I’ve done. My husband thinks I’m insane when I do that. But you’re right sometimes you just need a few images to get out of your own head and be present in the new place.
Really enjoyed this!
The river photo you’ve totally captured the beauty of the water and brought it to life for the viewer excellent 👍
As usual henry another awsome video and definitely great shots of your pano. Take care cheers.
The second water fall image is amazing, beautiful light a fantastic picture 👍
Thanks Henry. Particularly liked the small waterfall shot.
Fantastic info, great locations. Will definitely head out to a number of the sites in this vid when I visit Scotland this year.
I absolutely love your enthusiasm and your photography is wonderful!
I absolutely love the logo
Love the still waters. wow
I was SO amazed at the landscape in Dumfries and Galloway when I went there... its SO overlooked, but perfect because of that, its never as over populated by tourists for us photographers - gosh I could give you a list of places there to stop off at! Worth you getting a list for yourself so you can make regular stops at places on your way home from the north, or if you fancy a drive just up a bit from the lakes... and thank you for the sheep! I'm gonna look out for them on every video just for the ongoing chuckle I get from those...😂
Thanks for the comment, yes it’s a heck of a place! Lovely towns as well
That panno at the end was definitely worth the effort. Beautiful!
Brilliant location Henry, it’s all about looking at the smaller picture as well as the big one! Loved the Robin and the oak leaf. Overall a wonderful video again thanks mate!!👍👍👍
The pano you took is simply brilliant 👍
Glad you got to Galloway, definitely one of the under-appreciated areas of Scotland. And there is such variety, not only in the landscape but also seascapes and quaint villages, ancient castles and monuments. I go down there at least once every year.
Totally agree!
nice one. being disabled and rather unsteady on my feet means I quite often see those low-down detailed cameos that I used to miss when hiking to some majestic scene. It's actually fast becoming my favourite kind of photography.
Beautiful images! Always watch your videos and love them. You are honest, funny, creative and inspiring.
Wolfgang
Thank you very much!
Love watching your videos. Really inspiring. Thank you.
What a beautiful and amazing to start the video. I got drawn in right away and I loved it
Thank you so much 😀
Welcome to my part of the country. 👍
Love the intimate scenes you photographed. It can be so hard sometimes to forget about the big vistas and concentrate on the smaller things in the landscape. And they make for such interesting subjects! But talking about big vistas, that waterfall image at 19:45 is just stunning, and so is the pano!! The heart shaped lake is so interesting! It really is the perfect heart shape. Nature is wonderful!
Just a beautifully stunning place Henry
Good on you for not giving up on the day. You are a master of inspiration. I just got the Z 24-200, and it has been a challenge for me in being consistent, but I’m not going to quit on it. I’m going to get out in the desert hills, relax, and take photos where I have never gone before.
Superb Henry...jealous 😊
I grew up in Dumfriesshire and would have told you long ago how beautiful it can be - if only you'd asked - great video
Some more great pictures Henry, especially the pano shot, also loved your Robin and waterfall shots. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Sarah!!
Stunning pictures Henry thank u for taking us along. Looking forward to the next
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice hike to a great reward Henry. Another week well done.
A TV producer needs to spot you. A photography series would be so nice to watch and you’d make such a great presenter.
I love that small waterfall in the foreground picture. It’s nice too that you can spot the more intimate shots. As you say, there’s always something to photograph.
Wow, thank you!
Fully agree, he should be on TV,
You're actually right, he appears very natural and authentic.
However on TV you get annoying over producing and exaggerated emotions to enforce drama.
I seldom see TV, but it's right in my face when I see some TV content online.
my homeland!! Spent all my younger years in Dumfries and Galloway - I hope you are heading across to the Mull of Galloway too! Van looks MINT. Images just gorgeous.
amazing landscape !!
greats from germany
Another cracking film Henry. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us. Absolutely belting images; my favourite has to the the waterfall at 19.30. Just love the milky water with the lovely mountainous background. Wonderful.
Thanks! 👍
Tough one but we’ll worth it! 👍👏
The drone shot is beautiful. I’ve been considering purchasing a drone for some time now. The shot you took Henry looking over the hills of the lock as made my mind up to make that purchase.I love how you use your drone in your video presentations too all of us 👍
Great shots
Great intro to the video Henry and was nice to see a bit of D&G, as it’s often overlooked compared to the highlands. Really liked your selection of images today and really captured the essence of your day
Glad you enjoyed it mate thanks so much, what a spot it is
Wow that robbin so beautiful 😍
There was a great shot just after you left the first Loch and before you reach the first river - of holly and berries great for a Christmas card. Impressive shots from up the hill Henry. No wonder you were nackered when you got back. I look forward to your next vid.
Just love your enthusiasm Henry!! When doing the pano were all the shots taken with same settings as I noticed the light changing a bit.
Same setting mate yes! Thanks so much
Another awesome video Henry! I like the shots with your drone also.
Glad you like them!
Visiting this beautiful place for the 2nd time just last Autumn, as soon as you said you were going on a 'short/medium' hike up to the loughs I had a chuckle. I made that same mistake and ended up trudging through bog and overgrown tick infested bracken for hours! But the area and it's wild vistas are worth it! Can't wait to get back out there, loved the video and being able to reminisce on the incredible area.
Another great video. Love Dumfries and Galloway, hills, forest and a great coast too (especially round the Mull). Do wish you’d show a little enthusiasm now and again though. Haha. Is there nothing you can’t get excited about?
Great job Henry! You captured some great images. I loved your basic leaf photo! Thanks for taking me along!
Thanks 👍
Henry, I loved the B&W shot but ADORED the pano - so much so, I want it hanging on my wall. ❤
Thanks very much Tim!!!
What a plus to be able to hang about because you have that nice camper van. Anyway, you came away with some nice images. But I really responded to your remarks concerning writing off a location for it's photographic potential without really taking some time to take it all in. Such a good reminder for me. Thanks. Fine video, Henry. Cheers!
Thanks 👍
enjoyed this amazing pano shot cant wait for the next 1
Thanks Bryan
Great vlog Henry, love your enthusiasm and the Blue Jay.Good tip about looking for the intimate shots.
Thanks 👍
Your energy is just captivating. Great vlog and as always magnificent images
Thank you so much!
I want a camper van now
Henry, wow another great adventure. Beautiful shots. We all need to look around and realize the multiple of shots all around us waiting to be discovered.😊
Absolutely
Another excellent video! If you want to get a more isolated shot, you need that 100-400 lens ;-)
Another great video Henry.
You captured some really nice image's as usual mate.
Look forward to seeing the follow up video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very enjoyable video, that scenery is beautiful. Absolutely love your new logo!!!😊
Thank you very much Verlene! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Loved the pano. Thnx Henry. Cheers.
My pleasure!
One word..... superb.
Thank you so much 😀
Sssshhh Henry - keep Dumfries and Galloway secret - amazing part of Scotland- long may the tourists stay on the road to the Highlands and pass us by
😂
Thanks Henry for sharing your adventure in great locations.... the hills look magnificent with tranquil lakes & woodland....yes looking deeper certainly helps to really see more than initially thought.... great results... cheers from Australia 😀
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the new logo at the start! Beautiful images! Well done, rest well!
Many thanks!
Hi Henry, another grand day out and thanks for sharing... You looked pretty goosed at the end of that one mate, but the photos were well worth the effort. Looking forward to next week's video already!
Thanks!! 👍
Great opening overhead drone video and loved the oak leaf shot! Whenever you drop a photo it is a good day as your enthusiastic spirit is contagious! Was going to ask what you think of your new boots. Are they turning out to be a worthy investment? Cheers!
Thanks Darren! New boots are 10/10 so far, very comfortable and still waterproof but I have been looking after them a lot better
You certainly made a great day out of that trip Henry. That panorama was great and the cascading water around 19 mins in was stunning with the background you got in. Really appreciate the work you must have to put in to get the finished video.
Agree with an earlier comment, you should have your own mini TV series, your presentation is in my opinion spot on ( not too dissimilar to that guy who goes around on his canal barge on tv).
Thanks 👍
Amazing photography mmm i love the leaf photograph 🙂
Thanks so much 😊
Hi Henry, another one great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Ooohh I get awfully excited when I see that you have ventured up here! Really pleased to see that you are taking advantage of the lesser well trodden areas of this beautiful country, I don't know if you have the time to watch any other you tubers but I can highly recommend Simon Booth if you want inspiration and intimate shots - I don't know how he sees the stunning photos that he gets. Really loved the photos from this adventure (the robin on your tripod!) and look forward to more next week. take care
Thanks Jill!! Loved it round there
I had the pleasure of visiting Dumfries & Galloway in 2021, what a beautiful place! Back then I was absolutely brand new to photography, and didn’t have too much of a clue about what I was doing, so certainly didn’t manage to take advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves. It’s a place I can’t wait to visit again. I wonder if your next stop is at Loch Doon 🤔😁 that was our absolute ‘corny’ stop - we went to Loch Doon after lock down. A great vlog again Henry, one that makes you stop and think about the ‘there’s no shot here’ mentality which I’ve definitely been guilty of for sure. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks Martin. Yes, I’ll definitely be getting back there!
Looking At a landscape is also a part of Photography. From Watching over a landscape You can learn How to make a photo of it.
Very true mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Very beautiful pictures
Thank you so much 🙂
One of my favorite locations to shoot (I'll not name it) stoating stuff sir! There is a lovely big boulder that lies in the Loch at the other end from where you were. Also one or two good locations in the local area one of which is meant to be a roman bridge, probably a pack horse bridge though. Oh kudos for always pronouncing Loch properly.
Thanks mate, I’ll definitely be back round there it was lovely 🙏🏼
Man, you gotta stop going to all these beautiful places... I'm getting jealous! 😀 Great video as always.
Haha thanks mate!!
Another great video, your one of the few channels that keep the interest to the end of the video. Lovely photography and full of tips. On a slightly different subject what is the app you use showing the sunset line and identifying the peaks.
Many thanks! Photopills 👍
What is the App you are using for the sunset location please?
Another brilliant 'adventure' Henry - kudos to you again. BTW - and the boots? How are they bearing up?
They are great Dave! Looking after them so that may be the difference haha. No leakage at all in all that bog
Beautiful images Henry. What's your thoughts on the Montane jacket incomparison to Rab? Keep up the good work 📷❤️
Thanks Lisa! Always preferred Rab gear
Love you first intimate shot, Simon Booth style , well done, Henry
Great video Henry. Question.Whatscthe reason for the Hippopotamus above the rear doors. .I think it's a Hippopotamus? Just wondered 🤔👍
Thanks John! No idea what you mean re: hippo
@@HenryTurnerphoto That small Brass animal ? like in your van above near roof looking from inside at 24:07 onwards on video it's actually behind front of cab on the plywood . If it's not an animal ?
Another fantastic video!! What did you do differently with your camera that you use for video? Did you change the frame rate or image quality? I mean 30fps to 60fps or from 1080 to 4K? It has a different look, but the landscape is simply amazing!!
I’m not sure I changed anything tbh, unless it was accidental!
I need that orange jacket in my life. Just look at my logo lol
Oh yeah absolutely haha
Henry, which lens did you have on for that oak leaf at 8:20 (plus-minus)? I don't think you said. Am curious though. Really nice image. Thanks, as always.
24-200!!
@@HenryTurnerphoto Okay. I thought that is what you had on, but was not sure. Thank you so very much for answering my question. I'm still watching actually. About 2/3 of the way through. Lovin' it.
Van looks very " homey"...Maybe find a small burning fire in a fire place video?.
The video did not play when I clicked on it. I will try again.
Mate, as you get older, fatter and far less flexible, you'll find ALL your grub ends down yer front 🙂
😂
You missed your mouth!
Nice to see you visit this often ignored corner of Scotland.
There are some beautiful hidden wee spots.
I moved to Dumfries from Argyll over a decade ago and love it here.
