Camera mics have noise suppression software so loud noises don't drown out all of the audio.
You can barely hear the gunshot in the middle of the scuffle at about 1:40.

Odd protocol having the suspect step out of their vehicle before running their license. They would have learned he was a felon then handled it more safely and cautiously. Glad officers are ok but took unnecessary risk.
Scanners mounted in newer police vehicles can automatically run license plates and alert the officers for Code 37s (stolen), BOLs and the criminal status of the RO (Registered Owner). Probably got a hit on the plate, officers were just confirming the ID of the occupant.
Might be because many times these suspects take off in their car, creating a new and risky chase?

They investigate an officer who uses a gun. More than they investigate a criminal that uses a gun.
A convicted felon no less.
Placing the officer on paid administrative leave and another organization performing a detailed investigation is standard procedure after a use of deadly force incident in all 50 states.
This will obviously be determined to be justified and the officer will be back on the job.
The suspect is going down for aggravated assault on a police officer and with his record likely won’t get out of prison until he is in his 80s.

Yes, often they sentence the criminal after just a short investigation, while they let the cop go free even when they were clearly unjustified and after gathering heaps of evidence against him. That says something about lady justice having lost her blindfold. It's really sad.
This case has nothing to do with any of that though. Not sure why you'd bring it up. Of course they should investigate the cop even in these cases. How can you know if it was justified if you don't investigate?

I thought the same, things escalated because he was carrying a pistol illegally and knew he would be in trouble when she started searching him, but having reached that point, how he thought attacking her, with another officer there, who was definitely going to stop him one way, or another, was his best option is beyond me. However that is just a reminder of how dangerous criminals can be, they are generally not deep thinkers and prone to impulsive actions.

The officers broke the first rule - never leave you partner alone on a body search and pat down of a suspect.
That's absolutely one of the most important rules. People don't want to talk about it but that goes especially for female officers.
This is a 56 year old guy that's out of shape and if she were alone, who knows how bad this could have turned out. Yes, we're going to hear comments about how there are smaller male officers and there are women that can take on men, etc., etc., but the vast majority of the time that's not the case.
